Really great video. It's the next best thing to being there. I watched with the closed captions on and I had to laugh when the caption transcribed "Watch out for the psychopaths" instead of "Watch out for the cycle paths". 😀

Yeah, I heard psychopaths also, and I find that many cyclists are… indeed… psychopaths.

Thanks for making this. I've spent the last few days in the city. Really enjoyed the tram ride and walk around the lakes and woods. As a swimmer the Pirbadet complex is fantastic and you are lucky to have this. Rockheim pop museum could perhaps have been mentioned, I spent a fun few hours in there while it was raining outside.

Glad you enjoyed it! I do regret not including Rockheim but perhaps I'll make an updated version next year :) I've spent many an enjoyable morning in Pirbadet too! Thanks for watching 🙌

Yes, the psychopaths really turned me off, but the beauty of the city told me the psychopaths may not be so bad. I like the bar that had the sign, "Live by the sun". I'm pretty sure that's wishful thinking. I can see why you chose to live there. It's gorgeous! The cathedral reminds me of Chartre in France. Love vids. Love the podcast. Love the weekly writing. Thanks for all you do.

Trondheim looks a stunning place. We will be heading there in early February for a railway journey along the coast to Bodo so we will be in Trondheim for 3 days looking to do some sight seeing, you have certainly given us some ideas-weather permitting 🥶. Thank you

When it comes to sports, I would also mention Granåsen, which is a Nordic skiing (cross-country and ski jumping) stadium towards the southern end of Byåsen, west of town, that is hosting the 2025 World Championships (as it also did in 1997). Pretty much all year 'round, the area (the entirety of Byåsen and Bymarka it borders, tbh) is popular among hikers, amateur skiers (both on snow and roller skis in the summer), as well as being the stomping grounds of several world and olympic champions. Other popular hiking areas include the Lade/Ladehammeren area, which used to be the power center back in Norse times. Today, the area is a mix of suburban residental and commercial, just a 5-10 minute bus ride from the city center, with a really nice hiking trail (Ladestien) along the shores of the fjord. Lade also has a botanical garden and a classical music museum. Between Lade and the city center, we have Nyhavna. Here you can find the Pirbadet water park (a bit pricy, imho), Rockheim museum of Norwegian rock and popular music, a pretty large conference hotel (with what I believe is the most expensive "cheapest" beer in Trondheim 😅), and quite a few tech companies and other businesses. This is also the area of town where we can find the La'mon and Buran neighbourhoods, the first being the closest we have to a hippie/punk commune in town, where we can find UFFA-huset (really at Buran, UFFA being the punk/anarchist "The Youth for Free Activity), which holds concerts, workshops, café, etc. The Trikkestallen indoors skate park (inside a disused tram depot), also is to be found on Buran. There are quite a few festivals being held in/near Trondheim, including: Pstereo - a "student/young adult" focused pop and rock music festival down by the river at Marinen, the park behind Nidaros Cathedral, UKA - a biannual student festival, with two(?) weeks of concerts, even more weeks of talks, workshops, etc, etc, Trondheim Rocks - a two-day rock music festival, at the old brewery grounds just east of the city center, focusing on 70s/80s/90s hard rock, NidaRock - a newly started (and for now) one-day hard rock/metal festival, also at the old brewery grounds, albeit indoors (at least for this first year), Festningen - a pop music festival up by... Kristiansten Festning, Olavsfest - a cultural festival, with music, food and drink, talks, etc, held mainly in the Archbishop's Palace grounds and the cathedral grounds, with religious undertones, Nidaros Blues - quite self explanatory, Trondheim kammermusikkfestival - Trondheim Chamber Music Festival, Various specialty food and drinks festivals, Etc, etc
