These trucks are pure engineering marvels.....what they do knocks my socks off.....and the drivers have to be a bit crazy to do this but I have huge respect for all of them....
@user-mp9rd4hg8b that was the axles you are referring to, not the suspension. The guitar string axles allowed for faster and smoother movement over matchbox's thicker axles
Yes it is. Amazing tech in shocks and springs making it all work. A little off point. Just bought a RC desert buggy just to get a four link rear suspension and independent front. Just watching it work is half the fun of running the car.
The trophy truck a couple hundred thousand, the truck and trailer that got it there a hundred thousand more, That one clip of dude waving to someone then rolling his truck not more than 3 seconds later.. priceless.

Seeing that hood flap in the air like that makes me wonder why no one has developed break away panels yet. Small sections secured individually made to look like one piece (good, fender, etc.) but is made up of several pieces that break clean away so as to not be dragged along until the whole piece is eventually ripped off.
How to trophy truck: Take a truckload of spending money Add fancy mechanical stuff you don't entirely understand, blend thoroughly Add one tuned V8 and a heaping teaspoon of borderline insanity Shake until roughly consistent in color Add tablespoon of sand and garnish with cactus and evergreen trees to taste Pound flat and leave in Sonoran Desert for two days minimum
It's kind of strange watching some of these drivers and seeing a younger version of yourself doing the same things, particularly the extra aggressive side by side passes at speed where there definitely wasn't room but you made it work. In the heat of battle, all you can think is this guy is in the way, I want the clean air, this seems prudent and necessary. But long afterwards, that one moment will come back to haunt your every waking moment for a week!
I think the only equivalent to trophy trucks are offshore race boats. Just the unknown of the course/water. You can prerun it but one race day you just don’t know what conditions will be
seems like someone a little older, such as myself, would actually finish the races and be in the top ten by the end of the year:) I've broken cars, SUV's and Semi's, no need to break a race truck!

under the front clip. Theres a lot more room under there then youd imagine. The truck is pretty much a mid engine truck in this form, they scoot the motor back probably a foot or more into the firewall to help balance the truck out so they will usually have quite a bit of room under the front clip. Then they use the kind of air filter youd see on a tractor or heavy equipment. A big canister type filter, sometimes just a regular mesh type filter with a dust sock over it depending on the terrain and type of dirt theyre in.
