Levi Cowan creates videos and blogs pertaining to tropical cyclones, primarily hurricanes in the Atlantic Ocean. Posts occasionally concern other, non-tropical weather events around the world. Levi is currently working on his PhD in tropical meteorology at Florida State University, and completed his bachelors degree in applied physics with a concentration in atmospheric physics at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

As always, learning so much from your discussions. Thank you! Oh, an folks, storm surge watches all along west coast of Florida: stay out of the storm surge water! Red tide (mosaic & fertilizers), all those tons of dead fish & marine animals, people getting sick, pets dying; remember! This is not a good storm for us!

The cold front that they say will intercept the storm and influence it's easterly turn to PCB is literally going Eastward at about 5 mph, and still in the central part of Texas and Oklahoma.. unless that front speeds up to close to 35 mph, I don't see it being anywhere near Mississippi by Michael's landfall. Which means the storm will continue it's Northward movement some time after landfall... I don't know where these people went to school at but whoever taught them math needs to be FIRED! The cone is wronggggg! Alabama needs to prepare NOW!

Levi. I was wondering what happens between major hurricane at landfall,and storm 24 hrs later in South Carolina. How far north does the probability of hurricane force winds travel? (I remember Opal).

Storms don't think, but the government does. The military has been able to steer hurricanes for decades. These are not natural storms.
