So true ! There's always a slight nervousness as you approach the first toll, will it won't it work...?!

Great Video, was a nice watch. I used to watch some of your older vlogs of Alsace and Dordogne . You make the actual journey to the destination a real feature of your trip, with the scenery becoming more interesting the closer you get to the Alps. I can see your camera work has evolved, using the pole and rotating camera . I'm a big fan of France and go myself at least twice a year, usually leave on Brittany Ferries from Poole which is where I live. keep up with the vids!

Thank you Thomas ! I love the journey as much as the destination, France always impresses with the variety and beauty of its landscape. The 360camera is a new addition, I hope you and the viewers like it. We plan to have a second trip to France in the summer, but we have yet to decide on exact location. Thanks for coming back to the channel and the kind feedback it means a lot. Cheers JT

We’ve learned over our few experiences with the euro tunnel to always go late at night if possible! It’s way less traveled and easy going for sure! Beautiful location to stay it for sure! Cheers from the UK 🇬🇧

You are absolutely right, the last few times we have been over, we have taken a late night, around midnight crossing, and all bar one it has been a lot quieter as welll as cheaper. That wouldn't have made any difference to the issue our train had with its brakes though...! Thanks for watching and taking thr time to get in touch. Cheers JT

I live near the eurotunnel and use it regularly …. The best crossing I had was at midnight in summertime … there was no traffic and I got from Folkestone to Calais AND back within 2 hours when I delivered a car… the other 3 times I’ve been across in the day time I’ve had 3, 7 and 3 hours delays

We stayed there 2 weeks ago in our van with our grandchildren for the skiing. There was no snow at Huttopia when we were there. The slopes were patchy, even up at 3200m

Nice video, we were in Bourg the same week and has similar travel plans to you. If you do it again I’d highly recommend trying to get a ski on the Saturday. Transfer Saturday is the best day it’s very quiet compared to mid week in school holidays. The first Saturday we skied les arc and the second Saturday we skied La Plagne. If the best part about driving to the alps - 8 days skiing. On the last Saturday we stayed just north of Lyon and the roads were completely clear on the Sunday..
@CampervanJourney
@CampervanJourney Год назад
Hi Mike, that's a great tip, thanks for sharing. It had not occurred to me to try and ski on the Saturday, we had already booked our passes to start on the Sunday for ths trip. The idea about travelling back on the Sunday is a good one, I can see how the roads could be much quieter. Thanks for sharing, watching and getting in touch ! Cheers JT

We have just done the same trip but I think our half term was the week after yours. We saw you guys driving into the site as we were going to the Super U. Maybe you spotted our van? It was the black California parked to the right of the toilet block (on a quite muddy pitch as there was no room on the tarmac) pop top up and Pucer roof screen on. We also stayed one night in the van then a week in one of the chalets. Hope you enjoyed your weeks skiing.

@CampervanJourney
@CampervanJourney Год назад
We didnt Ski on the Saturday after all as had already bought our passes to take advantage of a preseason discount. Having seen what some people have suggested, Saturdays are a good day on the slopes as they are quiet due to changeover, perhaps we'll try that next year ...

Hi JT Have a great holiday, I’ve just looked at the campsite you are stopping at, looks very nice. Can I ask how you are getting to Les Arc each day? Are you going up in the Beach or is there a ski bus service that can take you up and bring you back? Kind regards D
@CampervanJourney
@CampervanJourney Год назад
There is a shuttle bus that you can book from the campsite to the Furnicular railway, in Bourg St Maurice it’s free. We drove the Cali down there, it’s only 5 minutes away and costs about 3 euros for the day. The furnicular railway takes you up to Arc 1600 and then you can get ski lifts or another free shuttle bus to Arcs 1800, 1950 and 2000. I’ll have more details in the next video… hit subscribe so you don’t miss it if you haven’t already! Thanks for watching and getting in touch, Cheers JT

i’m a little confused. why do people who do roadtrips in europe refer to travel distances in miles? don’t you guys use the metric system?
@CampervanJourney
@CampervanJourney Год назад
We do, but we still think in miles...it would be much easier if we all used the same metric for distance and speed !
@ln8605
@ln8605 Год назад
We’re British and we use miles. In Europe they use km. We also talk about ‘miles per gallon’ even though we now don’t have gallons displayed at petrol stations.

Did you need winter tyres for this trip?
@CampervanJourney
@CampervanJourney Год назад
We had All season tyres with the 3Peak certification, so would pass for areas where snow tyres are required. They are Michelin Agilis Cross Climates and I have a review of them on the channel. The weather was dry but cold whilst we were there so no need to try them in anger. You do need to carry snow chains with you just in case, some areas they are a legal requirement. Thanks for watching and getting in touch. JT

@CampervanJourney Год назад
Thats why we opted for All season tyres. The Michelin Agilis Cross Climates we have fitted have so far lasted 35,000 miles, are three peak winter rated and have proved a great all rounder. Our snow shains have remained firmly in their storage case ! Cheers JT

Strange that you should have been smuggling illegal products into the EU. Do you disregard all the laws that don5 suit you?
@CampervanJourney

Absolutely not, we had a few rashers of bacon for personal consumption that we cooked up for a breakfast roll on our trip down. I am sure we are not alone in this. Thanks for watching and taking time to leave a comment.
