Hello and welcome back today we are looking through some off denominations. In this run we will be hunting 2ps, 5ps and 20ps every fortnight ith a podcast with my good friend Grosey from Grosey Coin Hunts.

I got a new Olympic Games 2024 #2 coin today. I didn't know there was one! It has the green and gold colours on it.

Commemorative coins. This is where the RM revenue is coming from now and for years to follow. Why stick a commemorative into circulation when they can produce BU coins, charge well over face value for them, and mint them in a range of metals with extortionate prices. Coin collecting will start to wane, and I've seen comments from some collectors who have abandoned the hobby because no commemoratives are being put into circulation. It may be just the first nail in the coffin. 😬

Prior to decimalisation the farthing was the smallest coin and there were 960 farthings to that pound. Since the half new pence coin was discontinued the smallest increase in price is a one hundredth of a pound. In Australia the 5 cent is the smallest increase - one nineteenth of a dollar. Presumably when the government discontinues copper coinage (as will be costing more to make than face value) the 5p will be the smallest price increase that is feasible (if not using electronic bank transfers etc) May explain the rampant inflation going on since 1971??😊 I know the problem is more complex but won’t have helped!😊 Overnight prices went from 4d to 4p and smallest increment went from 1d to equivalent of 1.2 d (1/2 np) ie minimum of 20% rise

As an Australian I must admit I find it strange that you still have 1 and 2 p coins. We haven't had them in circulation since 1990 I thin. Various ones were included in "not for circulation" sets after 1990.

Do the copper plated steel 2p coins look significantly different to the older bronze ones.

it be sad if they get rid of coins and be sad if u made these videos in 60 years but no one watched them because there was no coins left or being made or used. ill try to. also i always like when u both make a video together

Is Grossey in a room of kryptonite Or lord Percy Green 😂😂😂 I think there is probably another bout of inflation. On the way hence a lack of lower Dom coins. The worlds . money markets are on the edge

Copper Coins? They aren't even copper any longer, just cheap plated steel, I wonder how long they will last before severly deteriorating?

Will they rename the royal mint to 'the royal novelty coin mint' Sad to say I'm loosing my interest in coin collecting now since there are none going into circulation but yet they are spitting out so many new commemorative coins that you have to buy it.

In latest news, the British Government has sold the Royal Mint to the Chinese, who will be making all future British coins out of cast mazak and plastic
