This was a fascinating demonstration. The test is a useful one, and while as a vocal coach I could only ever use it to recommend a student or friend seeks qualified assessment, I'm still glad to know it. I was also really interested by the patient's ability to speak, however marginal, when the scope was subglottal. I would have expected a 4mm obstruction between the vocal folds to have prevented sufficient adduction for phonation. So it was interesting to see that, however hoarsely, he was able to attest to the difference in sensation.
