My school also had the forbidden closet too! Ours was off limits because we later found out it had a stash of female under garments (we were at an all male school) and not so subtly, the head PE teacher quietly "left to pursue his dreams".

I remember a teacher screaming at me, I'm basically saying "what" like in Pulp Fiction because I'm so intimidated or "yes" when I should say "no". End up at the principals office and I still don't know what I did 20 years later.

We had a closet like that. It was connected to two different science rooms, and the freshmen always wondered what was in it. One day our teacher said “dead cats”, which scared some people but everyone else thought it was a joke. When I was older, a different teacher told us that there were, in fact, dead cats (and frogs too!) for dissections that the seniors do.

At my high school, the librarian had me and this other kid bring a cart of something or other into the Forbidden Secret Teacher Room, and we found it full of unopened books for classroom reading and SAT prep books that they “suggested” we go out and buy. We were both so irritated by this that we helped ourselves to at least one book each.

It's funny to think that my school's had these as well but then I got a job as a substitute custodian and it really just destroyed the illusion of them. I will say though the first time going into the teachers lounge, or calling my principal by their first name was quite strange.

it's usually because there's school property there and the teacher doesn't want students breaking or stealing stuff. in my middle school, some rooms like for music or science class had those type of little rooms, and they were locked, with the teachers for those classes and the janitors being the only ones with keys. and it was school property for the classes. so like instruments in the music class one, beakers and chemicals in the science class one. so obviously students weren't allowed in because those things are expensive and someone could steal or break them

There's also the matter of not wanting the kids to be in places that are unsupervised, because supervision is part of the duty of a school.

the only teacher i remember giving the "don't ever go into this room" speech was our 7th/8th grade art teacher. It was the supplies closet. But all the kids were like "she hides her weed in there."

One time our teacher had us leave our bags in a classroom. He told us to retrieve them during the break. So we go to the classroom. There were 2 teacher ladies in the classroom. And they got upset that we entered it, that we weren't allowed to enter the classroom! We told them that our teacher sent us there and we refused to leave without our stuff. We didn't know those teachers so who cares if we yelled at them for being idiots.

I've seen too many teachers power trip because it's their "honorable" word against some dumb kid. Probably because a lot of teachers were bullied as kids so they came back to rule the school.
