This is a quick tip to troubleshoot your canister vacuum when there is no power in the rug nozzle Ken more, Bissell, Electrolux and more Monroevacuums.com
I have a Filter Queen and you just showed me on this video helped me figure out what is wrong with my filter queen beater bar. You Are absolutely amazing, Sir. I can not tell you much I appreciate you. You describe the fix Clearly and thoroughly with easy to understand directions. I’m a 70 year old female and you helped me figure this out. Thank you so much.My problem is in the wand.My husband an electrician and when he gets home from work I’m going to have him test the power on the two cords.Thank you 😊
Monroe you're the man!!! I have the Kenmore 200 and the carpet power attachment stopped working. After checking out your video I checked the continunity between the attachments. I started lower and worked my way up to the wand, where the switch to the carpet is. One of the two wires to the switch came out of the connections. After inspecting the wire it appears that the wire connector wasn't even crimped to the wire connector and the insulation wasn't even stripped away to make a hard contact. I stripped the end of the wire reconnected the wire and put it back together. Works perfect! Thanks for the help!!
Wow this was very helpful. Wish I watched this before buying a new motor and spending hours banging my head against the wall, ha! My issue was the wand.
thanks for the tips. This helped me sort out what had to be checked. I just had to clean the connections with a bit of sandpaper (older model) and everything works again.
You started on the right track with the exact problem I have. But you stopped short in explaining further what if it's not the wand that's the issue. What if the wand is fine and the beater bart just wont go! I cannot connect direct to the Beater bar as you did in the video. So my problem still exists. Good to see you were able to help others though
Try disconnecting the wires from the breaker (located) in the head and connect them together. Then try turning te machine on and see if the nozzle works. Consider this the issue is going to boil down to either the switch the grip, or the wand ( you said it’s ok) then the breaker and finally the brush motor. Just a process of elimination.
How do you reassemble the height adjustment mechanism on the Kenmore canister ? The next video please have you camera aimed at your hands where the action you are describing is. Thanks for the videos.
So helpful. Very common sense and I'm embarrassed I didn't think to try. That said, on my Kenmore 200 series, the female power plug on the hose end is narrower than the male plug on the nozzle part. I can't plug it in to eliminate the wand as the issue. Is there a workaround to this? The unit looks virtually new. I'm a reseller, but I'm sort of stuck because I have three parts (hose, wand, and nozzle) and don't know which one is broken. I don't want to sell something I'm not confident in. I think I'm local to you. (Monroe, NC?) Do you have a another 200 series we could interchange parts with?
I tried this suggestion as I thought it was a great suggestion. Now the main motor doesn't work either. Looking for a repair shop or a new vacuum to replace this 2018 Elite model. We really liked this model too.
Our problem is no power on the motor that sucks. The roller is working and has power. A little different that this video... Curious if you have a video for that motor or curious if you can suggest where to start? The bag was very full and wife didnt realize how full it was.
Thanks. I have a power nozzle issue, so I took out the extension wand out and connected the handle directly to the power nozzle and I have the same issue. My nozzle plug wire came in the mail today so I will try to put it in. Hoping that solves the issue and the problem is not in the handle/switch etc.
Hey and I am a new subscriber. Question for you, I have been taking my Kenmore Whispertone Powermate apart and cleaning it inside for years and the last time I did so, the light came on but the power nozzle will not come on. All the electrical inputs and connections seem to be fine so any suggestions for me to check before I order just the reolacement powermate which I found on ebay? My model is a 116 Green Whispertone from the 90's. Thanks much!
Thanks for your expertise! We have a newer model of the vacuum you show in the video; we followed your suggestions and the wand is fine. The problem is the "carpet" function on the switch - very low power. What would you suggest?
before watching this video, I did try to connect it without the wand, but connector wouldn't allow it, so I put a multi-meter and it was giving me 30V is a Kenmore 400 Series Hepa Media Filtration, do you know if that's the correct voltage that is supposed to give out?
can you do a zoom consult to tell me if my Kenmore brush roller needs to be replaced? it looks fried and smelled like it was burning when the roller wouldn't turn.
My Miele canister is bot getting power to the nozzle. I have ruled out the wand, hose and power head. As I have 2 vacuums. Could it be the part were the hose connects into the canister. I believe its called a socket. Thanks
thanks - but note - that my kenmore canister handle will not directly attached to the powermate to check if it's the wand is the issue - will not fit down enough to engage the elec connections ?
Hmmm! Other than using a multimeter to test, you can MacGyver the issue by using two wires (sold in either Lowes or Home Depot) to connect link one end to the handle and the other to the prongs on the nozzle. Note: do this at your own risk. Low voltage but still proceed with caution. Probably need two people to insure that the wires don’t touch. If unsure then it’s best to take it to a service sender
@@monroevac tried another Way to isolate issue. Unplugged hose from canister AND performed continuity test from end of hose to prongs at control handle. Results only one of the two worked. Took handle apart no loose/broken wires. Played with switch and worked? Put back together worked - then died! Bad switch, or wire someplace I can't find, but issue is located along hose and control handle. Ordered new switch $6.00. - I'll see. If not can purchase hose/ handle, or for a little more a new one - this is 12 years old.
Watch this video, it may help -Troubleshooting the Rug Nozzle Part two- the reset switch ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RsvokR3EB_4.html
Thanks for the video. Have Kenmore 600 series that the power nozzle is not working. Checked continuity of the wand with multimeter. What I found is that I have continuity with the wires, but it appears that the same side connector has no continuity. However, continuity with wire to the opposite side. Is it possible Kenmore purposely crosses the wire for some reason? Also, as per your video, I cannot get the handle to fit directly onto power nozzle. Any help and opinion would be appreciated.
I have the exact model and it is doing the exact same thing. when I tried what you said . I still cut off and on so it wasn't the wand . When I move the wire around the base it goes on and off. How would I repair that
Was told the motor probably burnt out, but inspection and the nose knows it didn't. Just wasn't getting power because in the handle there were two pulled crimp connectors trying to connect the solid wires in the hose to the braided on the selector switch. Hose must have turned. Not impressed with the over engineering, when it comes to opening to gain access to the belts, etc.
I almost thought I had found the problem when I saw this video… but I didn’t 😢. The carpet attachment cuts off and on as I manipulate the wand (wish I could attach a video of it doing this)… frustrating 😢. I’m sure the problem is within the attachment itself…
Try this video Troubleshooting the Rug Nozzle Part two- the reset switch ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RsvokR3EB_4.html maybe it will help
Consider all the active parts. Brush, belt, brush motor, breaker, wiring. One or more is the culprit. Testing each is the heart of the project. Multimeter or an sister vacuum can help isolate the problem.
