It can be very frustrating. You have replaced the valve and screwed back on the handle and then you find that your handle is going backwards to turn on the water. If you follow these simple tips you will get it right first time.
This example here is for a two lever kitchen tap . The trick is to make sure your valve is fully open. Keep turning the top of the valve (the ridges / splines) towards you until you can’t turn it any more . In the video we use the handle itself to turn the valve . Then fit your handle on to the top of the valve horizontally. Fix and tighten the grub screw. When you raise your handle to the correct upright position your water will be fully 'off'.
Take a look from a few angles to make sure you have it lined up correctly i.e that it is fully horizontal before you fully tighten the screw .
Now screw in your grub screw and tighten with your allen key.
Your water is turned off at all times while doing this.
