VRU, Vapor Recovery Unit. It is used for vapors and fugitive gases. Brings it from a really low pressure back up to a pressure they can continue to compress and get it into a pipeline or to a compressor station. Also helps keep down on venting LP gas which then becomes an EPA concern. Like others have mentioned of the Dangers on Natural Gas i'm not gonna hammer you on that. Just never take "someones word for it". If you do or did get this contract i would look into investing in portable gas detectors for who ever will be working these fields. I was a little disappointed to not see a company representative accompanying you, since obviously this is something you were not comfortable with. When you said "but its got 60 lbs" i was thinking no that is temperature. haha. I work in the oil and gas industry in the gulf of mexico.
I'm sorry but is the lack of understanding and proper procedure giving anyone pause? Not knowing if the system is purged, clanking tools around, is where is the power shut off?, Lack of communication from client to the dangers of the job and multiple other concerns happening here
Be careful using power tools around natural gas. It should be ok if system is properly purged but any sparks can be a real issue. Brushless tools reduce the risk too. If the system is live you really want to be thinking about non sparking hand tools too. Love the videos, very interesting work. I'm a marine engineer by trade (I was an engineering officer aboard merchant marine ships) but I have worked in the offshore oil and gas industry too.
Chris Ryan yeah the system was purged and locked out even at the gas valves the guys there told me I should be fine with power tools so I took their word and I'm alive but I do realize sparks can cause a accident so I asked before I used any of them thanks for the tip though it's appreciated and glad you enjoyed the video and my channel!
You're a Marine Engineer? I always wanted to be one. How did you get started, did you go to school for it, or were you an HVAC tech and transitioned to Boat Mechanics? Are you the ones that are away from home for 6 straight months on a ship, then home for 6 months? Thanks
pretty cool man. I never knew you guys used so much SnapOn tools. I gotta let my step-dad know about this as he is always trying to find more customers as a Matco driver
What's up dude, you should make a vid of you're journey into this line of work, like steps you took, schooling, training etc! I'd appreciate it, I'm sure others would to!
Ricky Gonzalez.O it would be a short video to be honest I'm still in the middle of my company sending me to different manufacturers for training but I will still do a video because a lot of other things come into play
Hey man I don’t even know if you are still using RU-vid because I seen where it has been a year since you posted a video but man I love to watch them wish you would make more
James Williamson hey I’m not making videos but still active on my channel in the comments I’ve been meaning to make a video as to why I haven’t made one in a while just haven’t had or taken the time to do it but as for compressor videos they are at an end for now would love to do them and who knows with my employer maybe one day if I can talk to the right person I can do videos on compressors again.
James Williamson anytime man! I mean pretty much my employer is so big at the moment I’ve all ready been told me recording at work will not be allowed they knew of me through my channel and they let me know up front when I applied at the company doing videos with them will not be allowed at work at least my own videos on my own time is fine but I plan to one day in the future if I can get in contact with someone so high up the food chain so to speak maybe I can get permission to record jobs again but honestly it’s a long shot.
Hey Man, I appreciate your work, as I am compressor serviceman myself. Is there any way to reach you with e-mail/social media? You could save me from getting fired, as I am out of ideas about malfunction of one of Matteis.
KC LE Possibly might be getting videos out soon again will definitely be doing an update video within the next couple weeks a lot of things have happened since my last post
