One of the most common challenges I see with my clients is pain during chest pressing, whether it's with barbells, dumbbells, or other equipment. Too often, as trainers and physical therapists, we jump straight to corrective exercises and breathing drills, removing the strength exercises clients love. But instead of taking things away, we should find modifications that allow them to keep doing what they enjoy while addressing any deficits.
In this video, I'll walk you through several modifications that allow clients to keep chest pressing without pain. From using a towel under the back ribs to adjusting range of motion and alternating presses, these strategies will help clients stay strong and make progress while you work on their mobility, rib cage, and shoulder issues.
