New builder here and was freaking out because my computer wasn’t posting. I removed RAM and placed one back to try it and it worked. Thank you so much!
@@SCOHunter you had any luck, my pc is freshly built today and my mouse and keyboard receive 0 power and neither do my front fans or graphics card, please help
Just wanted to say thank you so much for this video. This is my first foray into a desktop PC and ran into issues with the boot but this video helped clear the issues and now I'm finally able to enjoy the PC I just spent a whole bunch of money on. Thank you for not only saving me from scalpers, IBP, but also for awesome support videos like this!
I just decided to put together my own video on building a computer, but quickly realized I am not the best guide, especially for as complex a topic as troubleshooting. So I went looking for a video to put in the description for further troubleshooting tips. Can I just say these videos are super well done? Like above and beyond what I was expecting to find for a mid sized channel? Take my like, you've earned it.
Dude thanks so much for this video, I wish every single computer trouble shooting video was this flushed out. Going through this troubleshooting over the phone would have been a nightmare for someone like me, who barely knows anything about computers. Thanks again!
FOR NEW BUYER WITH NO DISPLAY. I just got mine to work following this guide, but with some added self diagnosis. My model was one with an rtx 3070 in it. The card wasn't fully seated because there wasn't enough physical space on the motherboard to have the giant of a GPU not run into one of the cables underneath it (is it called a SATA cable? Anyway...). I had to flex the cable connection down while being sure to not bump into the release tab of one of the rams when I reseated the graphics card. It...barely...fit and seated deeper than before. Not too happy with how flexed that cable mount on the mobo had to be, but there it is. It helps having a mechanical background I guess. :)
So, I decided to pull the gpu out and switch the ssd with the os on it to the lowest possible sata port and remove the other hard drive all together. Guess im going external with that hard drive now. :/
🙌 thanks for leaving this comment here! I bought my pc a while back and hadn't have time to sit down and set it up and now I finally have time it won't display (at first thought was the monitor/ cable) but after plugging the monitor to display a mac it had no issues) kind of quietly freaking out that it's my brand new pc!!??!! will be following these guides!
@@svartyc Turned the PC off, removed one RAM stick, turned the PC on. Do the same with the other RAM stick. If nothing happens, swap their positions and hopefully it should post
FYI. For anyone watching this video... IT REALLY PAYS TO WATCH IT IN IT'S ENTIREITY. I tried removing the graphics card. Tried removing my RAM sticks. It wasn't until the VERY LAST suggestion that it worked and regardless how insignificant it might be, it's worth trying. The only thing that worked was me removing the CMOS battery for 5-10ish minutes and then putting it back in. Trust me, this works. I was going to go to my neighborhood Microcenter and probably buy and get installed a brand new motherboard which is what I thought was wrong. This saved me a chunk of change. Thank you!
Thank you, thank you, oh, and THANK YOU! I have never, not one time, regretted purchasing from ibuypower. The customer service and tech support is second to none.
If you aren’t seeing any lights on the board try changing the monitor. This is the second time I’ve fixed a no post by changing monitors. You can switch back later.
It can be a DVI to sub adapter cable issue, it could work for a day or 2, but then it no longer worked for unknown reasons, so better idea is test it on another screen that use HDMI or direct d-sub cable.
I really appreciate it. Followed your steps and my PC turned on and communicated with my display. Now backing up my PC incase it's unfixable next time.

Some PC could shut down due to static charges when your hand is only touching the power button to the PC that’s made of plastic (not pressing the button). Some PC couldn’t POST, just wait a 3 days without using it, then it return to life of POST, this could happen once in a few years of use, like seeing a comet going passing by! Unplug the power cord and HDMI cables to the PC and let it sit there for 3 days …
There's one more simple check you should make if your PC has been in use for several years: If it won't start, or it takes a very long time to POST, or it shuts down again almost immediately, check for a bad power switch. That just happened to me a few weeks ago. When pressed and released, the power button remained stuck in the down position. Read your motherboard's manual to find out how to "jump" (short) the power connectors to start the PC. If that works, you can buy a replacement power switch.
Thank you for this helpful step-by-step video. I just bought a PC from you folks and while it would eventually load the BIOS, then subsequently Windows, would take about 2+ minutes of black just to get to the BIOS splash screen. Which I was like, "That can't be right." Tried reseating the RAM, Video Card, and motherboard battery, and it's now getting through POST to the BIOS within a normal time frame as expected. Thank you!
So you see my pc has power so what is happening it won’t display on my monitor and it won’t get signal so what I’m thinking probably a cable is disconnected or something from let it to get signal or it’s something else
THANKYOU!! I just spent 1800 on a behemoth of a system just for it to stop turning on Literally the first thing you tried was it. Damn thing was loose. Thankyou for saving me potentially visits to a pc technician
For the first time ever a video worked without any problems I reseated the RAM, Graphics Card, CPU power connecter. Took out the CMOS battery for 5 mins Slapped it back in and it worked. Thank you, liked and subscribed with the bell on
For people that bought through CyperpowerPC. Just bought a prebuilt, also lasted about 30 days and the computer would turn on for a few seconds then shut off. Keyboard, mouse and Monitors did not turn on during this. Checked all the above. Turned out to be the round battery under my graphics card on the motherboard. Left it out for 10 minutes, then put it back in and the PC started working. I had initially thought it would be the PSU, but it wasn't! Wanted to post for anyone that might be having a similar problem and to save you from buying a whole new PSU!
I went through these steps and still couldn't get last Post. Just wondering what comes next in advanced troubleshooting? Don't wanna give up on the PC but I think it's a CPU or motherboard issue at this point maybe?
I spent 5 hours trying to figure out why my ram wasn't working and all i had to do was push on both sides instead of forcing 1 side. Feel stupid 😂 Thank you for clarifying that for me
Can you post a link to your advanced troubleshooting 201: Advanced Power and POST issues? For those of us that are still not POSTing after following these directions from the basic guide.
I had this issue for like a day. As it turns out, I had forgotten to plug the CPU into the PSU. I can't stress this enough. Check faulty connections and anything you've forgotten to connect. I was stressed sick for the entire day.
Mine DIED after two weeks. None of the steps changed anything. In addition to no display the keyboard doesn't fully power up. The keyboard works fine when plugged into another computer though. I end up returning it on the Air Base where I purchased it. Even the top USB ports were super flimsy loose.
@@triliner254 you're right, mine needed some components replaced. I was just upset at the time because how long i waited for it and it finally coming in broken 😩.
@@ikzou2789 it helped me get the old card working again, and figure out what I did wrong with the new card. I plugged in the 8 pin without also plugging in the six pin on my GPU, I was a dumbass.
So my pc will basically go through the stage of fans spinning and led lights coming on but it never fully boots. Led lights come on and fans spin on for about 30 seconds but then it just shuts off and then the process repeats.
@@jo4696 well for me the problem was that my cpu wasn’t compatible with my motherboard so try and make sure all your parts are compatible with each other.
No luck with Ibuypower support for 4 years. Every time I contact them with the issue, it’s zero help. My PC will power up with no display. Then hours or even sometimes days later, my mouse will light up and boom, good to go. Issue is I have to put it into sleep mode, because if I shut it off it’s the same issue over and over. No idea what to do, since if the power goes out or the PC shuts down, most of the time it’s another few days before it comes back on. Have even paid a PC repair person $100 to tell me nothing is wrong with it. Of course ibuypower has helped zero at all. Never been so frustrated on spending $1400 on something that had an issue the day it arrived and was never fixed :(
My pc won’t boot. I built it yesterday. All the cables are in right I’m pretty sure and then only thing that is turned on is a white light above the pcie connector to my graphics card
I tried all three of these but there’s still no signal When I turn my pc on My leds light up, fans kick on, AIO pump kicks on, graphics card lights up but there’s still no display
I was playing on my gaming pc when my power suddenly went out for 5 hours. When the power came back on I turned on my pc and nothing happened no fans no lights. What do I do 😭

Well I did all the steps but after taking the cmos battery out and putting it back in after 5min doing everything shown on video (it was unplugged and power switch off) now my computer gets no power at all lol
so, i just found out that contacting support is the best way to find out what your problem is. for me my pc needs the CPU to be reseated. it depends on what light is ON. If you can seem to find it, look for these : DRAM/BOOT/CPU/VGA.
Love the video you said I could ask for help. First Post so bare with me: I am not getting a POST. Do I have something that is not compatible with my motherboard (see below)? I attempted to do my own build: My build: 1. Corsair 4000x ICUE rgb case 2. Gigabyte: B450 I AORUS PRO WIFI (rev. 1.0) motherboard (AM4 Format) 3. AMD Ryzen 5 5600x with include Wrath cooling fan 4. RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 32GB (2 x 16GB) PC4-25600 (DDR4-3200) in motherboard DDR slots 2 & 4. 5. Graphics card: MSI Radeon R9 280 in first pcie x16 slot 6. PSU: Corsair CX550F RGB, 550 Watt, 80 PLUS Bronze, Fully Modular RGB Power Supply 7. SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250gb: in the Sata3 slot 2 (0, 1, 2, 3 are my options) 8. Monitor: Dell UZ2315H (resolution 1920x1080) Issue: Fans are spinning colors are changing. Light is on the motherboard indicating that the CPU is talking to the motherboard. Other 3 lights do not turn on (DRAM, VGA, Boot). Any reason why I can't get to the Post screen on my monitor? Things I have tried: 1. Move the DDR memory to slots 1/2 2. Removed the CMOS and put back after 10 mins. 3. Removed Graphics card and plug into the hdmi slot on the motherboard. 4. Removed the SSD 5. Downloaded Windows on a USB drive hoping to boot off of it. Help is needed. Thanks, in advance.
I reseated my Ram, and my Graphics card. But it didnt work. The Mobo's fan is on so I assume it isnt the Mobo's issue, But my Graphics card fans wont turn on.
I don't know if you ever solved this issue but your gpu fans don't turn on until they need to. Unlike case and cpu fans that run all the time. Try playing a graphics heavy game and seeing if they automatically come on.
My Alienware aurora r7 works great, but sometimes it wont power on, but usually after a while sometimes hour or days its starts back working!?!HOW!?? i took it to 2 pc shops so far trying to fix this problem I replaced the power supply and installed a SSD with fresh OS and HDD, the original power supply had a button to test all fans and they spinned before i swapped it so i know its getting power when it does this not powing on thing im typing this on my pc but i dont wont to shut it down anymore cause of this problem if anybody has any idea, suggestions that help please i dont know what to do?? been trying everything,
My optiplex does this weird thing where when it overheats it will not enter post. It usually comes back to normal but it can vary between a few hours to even weeks. I just wish I knew why it does that and how I can make it work again and how to prevent it.
for me it only works by clearing the CMOS. the issue tho is that the PC boots but after a couple minutes freezes and the when I turn it off and back on, there is no post again. any help?
I recently just bought the trace mr pc from you guys and there is a blinking red light on the case I am unsure of what it is or how to fix it please help
How do I know if my ram stick is in the right way? I did all these steps with the element mini and still doesn’t show. This time I took them all out to see if it’ll work
so i power on, everything lights up and fans spin. My motherboard led lights begin the boot loop. White led(4 seconds), yellow led(4 seconds), then the red led comes on but only for a second then it goes back to white led and being looping in that order. My manual says red light indicates CPU but it’s supposed to stay illuminated if there’s a problem with that hardware. I reseated everything, cleared cmos and redid bios flash, still no signal. My monitor works on my laptop, but it takes a few minutes of being plugged in for the image to show. But it works none the less. any ideas? asus b550f wifi ii and 5800x3d. brand new build so ram isn’t dirty and i tried reseating didn’t work

I bought a ready built PC and received it today. Unfortunately, it has a VGA LED on which supposedly indicates the GPU is having an issue. I made certain that all cables were nice and snug, I reseated the RAM, I reseated the GPU, I even tried several different HDMI cables all to no avail! Dang VGA LED stays on and PC will not POST. I tried calling tech support and received "We're sorry, we are closed"! Not a good day so far. I have a feeling it's going to be a bad GPU. What I don't understand is, they supposedly build it, QC the build, run it through burnin and QC it again before shipping. I was surprised it was shipped in the regular iBuyPower box without any other boxing material to protect it. The foam inside to protect the GPU was a joke. I spent several hours trying everything I could think of to no avail. I guess a call is in order tomorrow. Sigh!
i shut down my pc , and the shut down loading freezes, its been like 10 minutes and nothing, y hard shutdown pc, when i turned on , the fans spinned but my keyboard and mouse was not working and my display either.
I think I have another problem.... My computer turns on, no post, fans change to a weird rainbow effect and ram lights up, stays like that for 30 seconds and then shuts off to do it all again once the fans stop
Hello, My name is Bernard and i'm having some issues with my PC and would appreciate your help if possible. I have an AMD FX-4350 CPU that i just swapped to a FX-9370 cpu. I installed the cpu but after installing it i waited a few minutes then went to try turning on the computer but my computer seems to not want to stay on. When i press the power button it turns on for about 5-10 seconds then it turns off automatically. I get no video display either. Is there a reason why its doing that? Its never done that before. This is actually the second time i change a CPU so i'm not sure if i missed something. Your help is very much appreciated. Thanks
