Good to see them trying to get up but even better now they have a better chance with the fish pass

Avon's fishing well right now, I got a nice seatrout, missed a take off a salmon and got a gorgeous wee 1/2lb brownie around the cement works area last week in a short 3hr session

It's brilliant watching them head up to spawn amazingly powerful fish when you watch them pushing through the current

Thankfully it's recently had a new fish pass installed so hopefully that will help the fish up stream

@@wildfishscotland6207 yeah, it'll help. But the whole thing would make an interesting set of rapids if it happened to fail during a flood. Didn't one of the Esk weirs do that awhile ago? It was good to see the weir on the Logie Water getting removed, that's opened up a huge amount of potential spawning habitat for the Avon migratory stocks

I know the are your talking about I've fished it a few times myself I normally do well with the French leader and weighted nymphs

Hi Lee no I've not heard about the changes the last I heard it was put on hold due to access if I had my way I'd blow the middle and give the fish a decent chance of getting up stream

Had a few from it year's ago and the odd sea trout I mainly fish for brownies nowadays so tend not to target them. it's a good water for the trout fishing worth the 15qd. a lot of the bigger runs of fish tend to be after the season finishes

No not many do it's a major obstacle thankfully its just about to get a new fish pass installed so hopefully that will help getting them up stream

It's supposed to be getting a new fish pass next year it does have one in the middle of the weir but most fish tend to go to either side due to the water flow hopefully the new ones a better design

Well I sincerely hope they give it careful consideration...

Hope so I some times wonder about the people that design these type of things I don't think they know where fish will lie and what's required to get them up stream successfully
