*Funnily enough, we met Ben on the flight home from Alice Springs earlier this year and after falling in love with his earthy beats, I reached out to him and he was kind enough to let me use his music in the vid. So please check him out and support him. A great guy producing some killer home grown beats.

The things I like most about your videos are the length and chilled out vibe, really gives a sense of isolation and actually feels like being out there with you somewhat. Great work, you're always an inspiration to jump in the car and head for the hills when I need to escape the city....watching your videos stuck at work is the next best thing lol.

Just a quick tip from a fellow colonial, just a Canadian haha- I'd recommend a hook slightly smaller than the jig you're using in the video as the trout you nabbed really had to commit to chomping that hook. That's my 2 cents and love your videos mate🤙🏻

I love your channel Scotty. Just one small issue is your lack of audio leveling... I have to listen to your music at volume 12 and your talking at volume 20. A good rule of thumb is set your tunes at 30%. Otherwise, great to see you back again!

Nice stuff Scotty. Didn't want to read the other comments - although they may have said what I'm going to. In those tiny streams you only need the lightest of light gear. A smaller lure, a rod without that great big surplus bit below the reel (the butt) - far too much weight there and you'll never meet a fish so big that you need the leverage to fight it. BTW, they were both brookies - Salvelinus Fontinalis

Again I am impressed with the different landscapes you go to. Glad to see your luck change with the fish. Even a missed fish is better than no fish at all. You got 2 and that's awesome. Keep them coming. Here in the state we are hitting winter. I'm in Florida and it's now cool enough to start camping. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Man, I feel like you could have caught so many more fish with a proper fly rod setup. Maybe some day eh? Also, not sure if anyone else has mentioned in the comments but it's always a good idea to wet your hands before handling trout like that. They are covered in a mucus layer that stays intact better if you handle them with wet hands. Overall awesome video and a great looking spot. Cheers Mr. Scotty!

Hi Scotty, just to say they were brook trout,browns are pretty little fish with black brown and red spots with gold flanks. They do change as they get older and vary in different environments.
@straubdavid9
@straubdavid9 4 года назад
Definitely Brook trout ... the lighter colored ones are females. I would definitely take a tent with you and zip it up tight. Maybe you can hang a pair of really light wading shoes off your pack. Every trip is an experience and an opportunity to learn what you need and what you don't. Certainly the location will dictate some of what you will need. All the best on your next adventure ... take care and have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

a general rule of thumb is brookies have lighter spots than the body colour and a white edging to the lower fins browns have darker spots than body and no edging on lower fins, good to see you back . it might be worth looking at a bait caster rod and reel for fishing in tighter areas once you get the hang of them they can be a hell of a lot more accurate.( with a lot and lot of practise)

From what I could see on your trout caught on the third cast, you are correct with Brook Trout. The trout in the video appears to have the distinctive black and white colors on the outer edges on the fins. The second trout has the same light orange fins with the distinctive black and white outer edge coloring of a Brook Trout. The pale yellow spots are also an indicator of the Brook Trout. Nice video, Scotty!

Another great video, I was wondering what had happened to you. Good to see you finally catching some fish. Tip for wet boots, heat fist size rocks in the fire and drop them inside your boots the other is to build a tripod and suspend them over the fire upside down so the heat will get inside your boots. obviously with these techniques you need to be careful of plastic components in your boots. Also any tarp can be strung from corner to corner you just need to do like they have done for centuries and run your ridge line under the tarp instead of above, I prefer this method as it gives you somewhere to hang boots or cloths to dry without get dew or rain on them. Good to see you giving Sam's gear a plug, it is good gear and he is a great bloke. Look forward to your next video.

The Snowy Mountains are an amazing place I have been camping and fishing up there for about 50 years the scenery is unbelievable but it can be a dangerous place if you are not careful the weather can change really quickly and plenty of people have been caught out .also you need to be careful when walking around in the hollows along the streams some areas are quite swampy and you can be walking along near a stream when all of a sudden your leg can disappear down a hole it happened to me up at Ogilvies creek some years ago I was lucky not to break my leg but it is a beautiful place and I love every visit never gets boring
