Troy Aikman " Was and will always be the BEST quarterback the Cowboys ever had ... Romo is not even close to being what Troy was " He is the greatest . I miss them years we had with Troy "
Would have loved to have seen Ol’ Troy play in an above average team, slinging it 2nd halves of games or playing from behind. Would have been an all time statistical great under those circumstances. He truly gets lost in the QB conversation because they didn’t need him in those ways. Can’t forget the pedigree. #1 overall pick in the stacked draft class of 1989. 3 Super Bowls and the glue of that crazy Dallas Dynasty.
Lets end this argument....Aikman would've set records without Emmitt Smith. Period. The most accurate passer of the football. Period. He has to supplement his throwing for one of the Top 5 Greatest running backs ever. Period.
I remember reading in the Jeff Pearlman book that Aikman was one of the best timing-route passers ever. Not necessarily a rocket arm--but perfect at putting the ball in a certain tight spots. I wish the Falcons could do something similar with Ryan. They did so last season, but that's one out of 10 seasons they've used him effectively. Not a very strong arm, but Ryan looked incredible running the no huddle with lots of quick passes.
I would agree with most of what you said, except that NO ONE was more accurate than Troy Aikman. Steve Young was accurate. Drew Brees is accurate. Aaron Rodgers. There are a few others that can be in the discussion and maybe about equal. But no one that could put pin-point accuracy better than Troy.
I remember listening to the night games on the radio with brad sham and Dale hansen. Described Troys throws as having (blue lazer streaks trailing the ball)..man I miss those days
Troy is the game of football. A side note, I don't know why, but I was shocked - SHOCKED at the footage of him going off on the sidelines at the end of this piece. I had to replay it several times...he seems so stoic most of the time...I just wasn't expecting so much...emotion...LOL!! GREAT footage - I'd LOVE to see more of that!
He was one of the best QBs to ever live and all you haters pleas tell me when you have 3 Super Bowls and make it into the hall of fame because actually he was the second best behind joe Montana
who cares about stupid Bradshaw troy aikman is hall of fame QB and has 3rings thier are QB s in the hall of fame with no rings so STFU bitch !!!!!!!!!!
Troy never gets the praise he deserves because of all the handoffs to Emmitt. That arm was a gift from god and when he got to sling it, it was truly a masterclass.
Didn't have the stats - didn't need the stats . Best money QB ever . I like Romo , but he's not Troy . Thanks, Troy , for making all of us Cowboys fans proud !
5 rings? Well, things have to go right and that 1994 NFC title game started off with Troy and Michael giving San Fran 14 points. That being said, that is my favorite Aikman game. I remember the quote from Rocky II when Creed's manager told Apollo, " I saw you beat that man like I aint never seen a man get beat and the man kept coming." San Fran beat on Troy, but #8 kept coming. Give me that pass interference penalty that shoulda been called on Deion and we all know Dallas wins.
Troy had a look of LEADER.. Thanks God for giving me the opportunity to see my Cowboys win 3 Super Bowls. Thanks to my Father for teaching me to love this team: DALLAS COWBOYS. Cheers from Mexico!!!
Most under-rated QB of all time. When Troy was under center, the Cowboys always had a chance to win (3 Super Bowls, 6 Division Championships when the NFC East was the top division).
I honestly don't think he was that great. Cowboy's offensive line was so dominating in the 90s that Aikman had forever and a day to throw. Rarely did he ever get sacked or was under pressure where he could stay in the pocket.
Sinbreaker he only had a dominating line for about 4 to 5 years his first 3 yrs in the league they beat the shit out of him... and they still made the playoffs his 3rd year.. footballs a total team game nobody does it on their own they all need each other to succeed
I think he’s awesome but to call him underrated is crazy he is remembered as being the QB of one of the true dynasties in the nfl the cowboys in the 90’s were the shit everyone loved them that’s why they were ‘America’s team’. Shit I lived in Kentucky and I loved them too
fuck you and tom Brady cheating bastards plus this is a troy aikmam video why are watching if you're. Going to talk shit bitch go cowboys we don't have to cheat. to win
If Brady took half the hits aikman sustained LOL! Aikman personified leadership an toughness in an era that would chew up an spit out glass jawed pussies of the modern Nfl . The man has three Superbowls without an * next to it . No comparison .
For sure. Aikman is a real nice guy, but when it comes to football, he means business. Great leader. Aikman still has the highest Super Bowl completion %, out of all multiple winners.
I love all the Romo haters on here. We're lucky to have him. Look what he's done this past season. Everyone counted him, and the team out at the Giants/Chargers game. He carried the team this season. When not covered, he gave his 100%. Even the embarrasing loss against the vikings, he ran a mile by himself, while his O-Line did absolutely nothing. If we draft a few more key players to protect him, we'll be able to let Romo rise up and win his ring.
Yup, the good ol' days of Troy "Long Arm of the Law" Aikman, back when the Cowboys were actually GOOD. Unless Aikman were to be the personal mentor of an upstart quarterback, we'll never see days like this again.
@Ironside 287 yeah man I remember that game I was depressed after that loss to SF and Aikman is also my alltime favorite player. Love his passing form.
I have all respect for Aikman, but i loved how he got rocked by the Eagles. I seem to remember him getting sacked alot by us, but hes won 3 rings we havent lol
I think what's missing with the Cowboy's is a dominating O-line. They should focus on that as priority. They got the talent in WR, TE, QB, & Murray is a solid RB with a great O-Line his production will improve even more. Romo would be less likely to throw picks because right now he's always trying to stretch plays with the mediocre O-Line he has.
Ummm...this isn't a highlight reel. This is a Troy Aikman lowlight reel. The whole first minute of the video is him getting sacked and fumbling the ball. Looks more like a defensive highlight reel. It gets better, though. Love the song, too.
conor gibson bunch of blazed cowboy fans in here. Aikmen threw the best ball out of those guys but he’s not really a goat. He’s up there though. Maybe three the best ball in history. Josh Rosen has one up on him now though.
That would be nice. I like Alex Smith and Turner. I just wished Alex had a better arm. At this time we need a true superstar QB, that's what this team needs and deserves. It's been hard rooting for my favorite team knowing I hate the QB.
I'm not going to look back for the rest of the conversation B5, I'm just going to say that I voted for Obama and I'm a lifelong Cowboy fan. One love, yo.
That is true. But in all fairness you misread the guys comment. He said multiple winners. Simms only played in one. But he was almost perfect in it. Jeff Hostetler was the Giants QB in 91 against the Bills
Um, airman had over 9 concussions in the nfl...at least the ones they recognized as concussions....and he was on a shit team his first two yrs....and he played on concrete turf.....oh yea, he won three Super Bowls and was an MVP....what has romo done? Besides break up with two of the hottest blondes around? And drop field goal snaps?
@09164 AMEN. Its like I say, Romo's good, but he can't be good unless his teammates help him. O line needs to protect him and his receivers need to catch his passes and not let them bounce off their hands to get picked off.
THE difference? No. Troy had way better talent than Tony ever thought about. Troy didn't have to carry that team like Tony does now. Looking at Tony's running game. Compare it to what Aikman had. It's easy to lead when you've got a loaded team like Aikman's Cowboys. Oh, it wasn't Jimmy Johnnson who built it. It was the doofus GM from Minnesota, Mike Lynn. Jerry Jones was right when he said 500 coaches could have coached that team.
Jokerman4383, there is more than statistics when looking at a quarterback. He didn't care about his stats. He did what he needed to help his team win, not make himself look pretty.
I think the salary kept was gonna hurt 'em, but they should have won 4 straight. That team was so loaded. I give Jimmy and Lacewell credit, but Mike Lynn gave them the keys to the hen house and they picked some golden eggs, buddy.
Nope, you're wrong. It was built by Jimmy Johnson and Larry Lacewell. Jerry was right that 500 coaches could've coached it, AFTER Jimmy built it into the masterpiece that it was. The 1 coach that did coach it after that cost the Cowboys the glory of winning 4 SB's in a row. Tony is not a leader, and the Cowboys will never win a SB until Jones gives up the GM spot.
Yeah.but traditionally Superstar Qb's don't win much superbowls and even if they do win one, they get it at 34. Smith has a better arm and is more accurate than Aikman , in Short throws and Mid Rang Throw.and is way more mobile, Aikman was more smarter tho and had good QB/WR chemistry. What they have in common is, they allow RB to run better, they make crucial and important OLine Shifts, call good audibles are unstopable in the 4th quarter. Smith would of had a ring if he had a decenWR lastyr
Tony Romo should take a page out of his book from 3:09-3:19, Romo is too quiet on the sidelines...One thing about Troy he would take the Leadership role as a real quaterback should! GO COWBOYS!!!!!
Best cowboys QB ever? LOL! . . . LOL! Not even close. YOu see, Troy's teams never had to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. But if you grew up in the 70's and watch Roger Staubach work his magic, then you'd know who the greatest Cowboy's signal caller was. See the way we're losing games now? When you to win like this all . . .the . . . time. It's why they call Staubach "Captain Comeback." Oh, Staubach just didn't do it in regular season. He save his best for the playoffs.
