Hello I have a 2023 X-Track 300 and have it plated. I am up in Arlington WA and was thinking of buying the JI819-8521N water pump kit like you did but wanted to make sure that's what you installed and what other parts to order. When I am on paved roads between trails and doing 45 MPH the bike heats up. I have a trail tech temp gage and shift back into 4th gear when I hit 185 degrees which then cools it back down. I also have the crank case vent blowing fluid issue and I have mine routed almost like yours. I can send you pictures of my mods which are a fair amount. How do I contact you?

Hey thanks for the comment. I don't have a temp gauge so I don't know if the pump kit actually helped, but I believe that is the part number. 185º wouldn't concern me, I'd probably start to back off if it was creeping over 200º or so. 45mph is pretty fast on these, do you have it geared up? Going faster than 30 with stock gearing on mine for a sustained period is too many RPM for my taste. How much fluid are you using? The manual says to use 380ml when refilling a e-start bike but I and others have found 350ml is better, that's how much drains out of mine after it finishes puking the excess fluid out, I still think it's a TRS design problem. I just machined a little catch can to give a place for the oil to accumulate and separate from the venting air. How did you get the bike plated here, did you add all the equipment the state "requires"? You can email me at kennethnoisewater42@gmail.com if you'd like.

I have a 2022 Xtrack and i have had the same issues you have. Pushing oil constantly. Mine also overheated from day one and i had to replace the same sill at the water pump, the impeller and the sills in the head. I also had issues with the fan as it was not installed correctly from the factory and it rubbed bad. I also had to replace the thermostat as it would not kick the fan on. My bike has 16 hrs on it and i am frustrated with the issues. I hope i finally got it dialed in. Hope your bike runs well for you. The bike runs well but it ran hot.

Great video, actually considering the trs xtract and nice to know the quirks! Seeing a lot of these in CO, but never stopped to ask these guys questions. Quick question though, how is the sitting down comfort getting to the trails? Im getting into trials bc i suck at enduro lol...but mainly the great crowd behind it! It takes a while for me to get to the trials playground and just standing up for 30min straight wears me out a lot!

Not very comfy. On a perfectly smooth road it's manageable. I've found if I use the seat too much, my ass will be sore for the next couple days. The longest continuous time I've sat was 8.8 miles over about 20 minutes on a paved road.

Do you plan on competing? This is obviously not your first trials bike. Im a good mountain bike rider. I’m looking to expand and trials riding looks like fun. I’m not going to compete. Those days are behind me. How did you start and maybe give me some advice on entry level bikes you’ve had. What worked for you.

I've considered attending local club events but have never done so, mainly as a way to improve my riding skills. My style has always been about going out in the woods and riding awesome technical trails and playing around in gravel pits and hill climbs, that type of stuff. I started riding when I was 12 on my dad's clapped out 1975 TL125, then I got one that was bored out to 145cc which was a big improvement, that bike got sold and we bored out the original TL to 145cc. I was 18 when I got my heavily used 2000 TXT 280, and now many years later I have this TRS, I've stuck with trials bikes because I love how low and light they are for the riding I like to do. By about 2000 the bike makers pretty much had the formula down, the newest bikes are better, but it's not a crazy difference like the difference between 1975 and 2000. If you want a modern trials bike, stick with early 2000s+. Some of the bikes you'll find have been ridden pretty hard, but it's also common to find them hardly ridden because dirt bike guys buy them thinking they'll use them for training and they get bored. The 2000-2003 Gas Gas TXTs (not the pro model) are quite solid bikes, however many of the parts are no longer made and hard or impossible to find. I believe the older Shercos are decent bikes and I think most parts can still be had, but not sure. The Montesa 315R is a solid bike, most parts are available. The Montesa 4RTs are also solid bikes (except for the peg hanger mounts on the frame) and the 4 stroke is really quite good, but they hold their value compared to the other bikes so you'll pay for it, you can buy pretty much every part for them still as they are still making 4RTs 18 years later, they weigh a little more than most other bikes except for the 00-03 TXTs I mentioned earlier. Betas are supposed to be pretty good but I don't have any experience with them, the left side kickstart on the 2 strokes is a big turn off for me, they also have a steeper fork angle than the other bikes. I'd recommend a 200-250cc for a new rider (the 315R and early 4RTs are both 250cc, the other brands have multiple engine options).

@@PNW_Trials_Adventures thank you, thank you. You could be a good salesman. I had some dirt bike experience out of high school. I worked in the bicycle industry for 15 years. Grew up in the mtn bike explosion. Learned it all at 45 years old. I Fell a lot. Now im just not crazy about the climbs. Down hill bikes are to specialize and are poor climbers. I still like to get out in the woods. Again thanks for a comprehensive answer.

Have you done anything to the suspension? Changed the fork and shock spring? Revalve?

Looking at buying one what ar they like on the road, I have around 3 miles of road before I can get in the forest saves meeting about with trailers and getting the car out whats your thoughts ?
@PNW_Trials_Adventures
@PNW_Trials_Adventures Год назад
I mean, they're not exactly road bikes, but I have cruised a LOT of gravel logging roads, it is what it is. 30MPH is about the max cruising speed, any faster for a long period of time and it's really too many revs.

Interesting thought.. I'm at 53 hours now with the new seal and high flow impeller kit with no issues.
@JohnRamos-x3s
@JohnRamos-x3s Год назад
I had to replace all the seals related to the water, at the water pump impeller and in the head along with the thermostat and fix the fan as it was installed wrong from the factory. Along with issues of pushing oil constantly. Hope you have better luck with your bikes.
@PNW_Trials_Adventures
@PNW_Trials_Adventures Год назад
@@JohnRamos-x3s I have completely solved the oil pushing problem, I have a video of the fix on my channel. As far as water pump seal, so far I'm at 77+ hours, (10x longer than the original seal) with no problem since, when I replaced it I used some silicone grease on the shaft and used the high flow water pump kit. Despite these couple minor problems I really love this bike. My dad bought a new Gas Gas TXT in 2002 and had a lot more problems out of the gate than I've had with my TRS, however he worked through them and still rides that bike.

I'm 6'1". I can maybe do that at some point, but I can't stress enough that the seat is only useful for cruising on roads or very smooth trails. Don't buy this bike expecting to sit on it like an enduro bike, because that's not gonna happen.
