Thank you for this. We are liking this idea for our Tacoma, could you share your T-track lengths you used for your rack? And they do not shift side to side if not fitting tight length wise? The links you shared are showing 3/4" x3/8" size of T track so want to confirm this is what you used? Not a gear head so please excuse me if dumb questions....
I used 48" rails. 3/4 x 3/8 is the size I used, for 1/4"-20 hardware. Be sure to check the nuts you buy to make sure they fit, as some 1/4-20 nuts are slightly too thick to slide into the rails (my local Ace had some that worked, some that didn't). The rails don't move around when there are bikes on them as the weight keeps them down. I usually slide the rails/bikes so that my longest bike's rear tire is against the truck bed. It also helps to attach 1/4" plywood or something of that sort on top of the rails that run back (behind the fork-mounts) as this keeps the flex of the rails to a minimum so the bikes don't sway side to side while driving. This is only an issue if I'm not careful and mount the bikes close enough together so that a brake lever or something rubs on the next bike's frame.
