Talon. I would love to see a video explaining your road to minimalism while living in the van. My favorite season of your channel was when you were traveling around the US. Been supporting since your WRX days.
As a former owner of a Kimbo camper, better, be careful, taking advice from a guy who says buying older Tacoma, and put a kimbo on it! You have to make sure that the Tacoma will take the weight, which is close to 1000 pounds. Then you have to buy E rated tires and most likely airbags for the back suspension. You’re better off buying a sport version of the Tacoma for the ability to carry more weight. It’s always best to talk to the manufacturer.
Man, I think both of them are super dope. But I have to say when you first came out with the Kimbo, I was in love haha. I think the Kimbo setup is really dope looking, and the wrap on both is awesome. Love the new wrap on the van, and the little bit of orange really sets it off. I've been watching you for a good minute. Keep up the good content, bro.
Kimbo would be my choice for off-road getting way back in nature. However, gas mileage would be my concern, so I’m thinking of converting a Toyota Sienna minivan which gets 36 mpg. Stealth camping would be an advantage of a Sienna.
Haven’t caught your show since you had the all-black Subaru Crosstrek; I liked that build. Recently I bought an all-black 2022 Jeep Willys Sport to get a 6sp convertible that with the Deep Sleep system and a Goose Gear Tailgate Table my wife and I can go traveling and camping with; yet use as a daily driver. Glad to see your channel grew; and thanks for giving me the basic idea with your Subaru for what we eventually bought & kitted out.
Very informative video. For me, the van would be preferrable but for the cost. The truck would be more realistic because of my budget. But I don't like truck campers because of having to exit the camper to get to the cab. That makes me uncomfortable, from a safety point of view. I may hardly ever feel the need to bug out, but that one time may be critical. Many years ago I traveled over North America in a VW camper bus. It was slow but with the proper maintenance (which I could often do myself) I would always get there. I got spoiled being able wake up and hop into the front seat and drive off.
Your sentiments with regards to safety ...ie able to get out of kimbo into trailer would be an asset ( who knows may Kimbo might address this in a slightly more expensive model!!!
I like the capability of being able to-if needed-roll out of bed and hop in to the driver seat and drive off. Not having to go outside to operate your vehicle is pretty big. From stealth considerations to it maybe even saving your skin.
Thank you ( more info for my decision)....Kimbo is still my choice for 2 reasons, I will only be using it 5 to 6 months in the winter with a dog (full time), and back to a trailer for our spring summer fall season in Canada!!! The more I learn about the Kimbo the more I know its the right choice for me!!! Cheers, and hope you have an amazing winter season!!! Keep the content flowing....your community rocks!! @@edgarmarks-franks2620 Done my homework...already know where Kimbo trailers are made but thank you!!! I am in Eastern ontario and close to retirement!!! Still leaning heavily toward the Kimbo!!!
Haha, when you said you aren't concerned with a cleaning method for the outside 👍 I imagined I would have to clean my solar panels constantly when I first installed them but they've been pulling in the sun power the same no prob since day 1; it's been a year. 😎
Thought a rooftop tent would be enough for the taco build, but now here I am budgeting for a kimbo AND a van. RIP my wallet. Great video, love the quality content! As always, huge inspiration.
Talon, Great video's, Thanks To Mike, that's how I found you, I have a question for you, what made you pick a Kimbo instead of a four-wheel camper which I like because of low profile and probably a little better on gas also fights through the winds when traveling on Highway?
Your question, to me, is a lifestyle choice. Cruising vs. extreme over landing. Elijah Craig vs. Jagermeister? Maybe the Discovery Channel can run a special featuring you and your channel. 😂. Safe holiday travels!
@@TalonSei Same true for repairs...drop the Kimbo in a nearby RV park or campground while the Taco is in for repair and you still have a place to stay....take the van in for repairs and well... not so much.
BTW, I have that black out emblem in the steering wheel too. They had to stop making them due to copyright. (I have a billet devilhorn toyota emblem for the grill too, but won't work on the pro grill.) You have a unicorn piece 😁
Hey Talon, question, how much work would you say needs to be done to a stock Tacoma to be able to put a Kimbo on it safely? As someone who is familiar with the truck and mods, what would you advise a novice do?

I've never heard someone say they get worse mileage on the highway.. I get it with the truck because of the flat front but not the van..I get 17mpg stop and go and 20mpg highway in my sprinter.
It's odd hearing someone say a truck, with a high center of gravity and a heavy-ass camper on the back isn't top heavy. How many of these things are you selling?
Disappointing, my comment was deleted. Again, The Blues Brothers, I'm just say'en. (Look it up, tried to give a link, but I guess that's why the comment was deleted.)
