Today I would like to show my truck camping box. This has the essentials needed for a 2-3 day trip, always stocked and ready to go at a moments notice. This kit also doubles as an emergency kit, providing the basics in case I need to be self reliant for a time.
For those building out a box and looking for the items shown in the video I will try and list as many below as possible. Some of the links below are affiliate links that provide a referral rate to me at no cost to you.
I am using the Olight classic mini, the code below will give 10% discount

I’m actually quite proud of my Chuck Box.. ugh I’m still saving for a truck with a topper. But when I finally get a vehicle worthy of off-roading I have a hole setup for it. 👍🏻

Idk if you like Jeeps or not but the 90s Cherokee XJs are good for a budget trail rig, I have one and my best recommendation is try to find one with as little rust as possible, the 4.0 I6 with the auto AW4 transmission is the best setup that’ll last 300k+ miles with regular maintenance (no synthetic oil for any vehicle with flat tappet cams) 👍✌️

@@thefisherman1127 agree with this 100%, the XJ is probably the best all around vehicle Jeep ever made. There was a time you could pick one up for near nothing, everyone wanted CJ or TJ. I have had 3 XJ over the years. 2 1996 four doors, and a 1991 2 door. The 2 door was my favorite by far, Gunmetal grey with grey interior. Slight lift and 31s. We drove that thing all over the place. The nice thing is being able to fold the seat down and sleep in the back. Power to weight ratio better than my TJ and the turning radius was a bit better. Hard to find them with less than 200K in my area, and people still want near 10 grand for a running one.

Great tips. Having multiple uses makes it even better. We have a backpack we use for road trips and it fits back into our camp set up.

Assuming 2 -3 cooked meals a day, how long will the one fuel pod in you kit last?
@Scablands_Scavenger
@Scablands_Scavenger 11 месяцев назад
Easily 3-4 days if using it conservatively and depending on what I am cooking. If just using to boil water for dried or freeze dried food and coffee it lasts quite a while. If you want to actually cook meals it will take more fuel, it also depends on what you are cooking in/on. Some pots are more efficient. The little kettle in this video will hit a boil in about 3 minutes, so for breakfast I can boil enough water for oatmeal and a cup of coffee in one burn. I normally carry a folding stick stove in my backpack, the box or truck. I have another one in my water bottle carrier along with a few esbit tabs, a little redundancy in case I need to boil water.

Sorry cant be much help here, I have a few tents but they are very specialized for each use. Most any name brand tent sold at a reputable sporting goods store should work well. Look for one that is easy to set up and choose the proper size for intended use, large enough to store gear etc. Big tips for water is have an extra tarp on hand to suspend over sleeping area and camp. If you can manage to cover your cooking area that will help keep clothes and other gear dry and help avoid tracking mud/water into sleeping area. Always look for high ground area to pitch camp on, and if lots of rain is expected trench your tent and dig an outlet at lower elevation away from camp. Make sure to have a larger tarp than tent to keep rain away from tent walls if it is windy. Biggest thing, in my opinion is to set your tent up and test it before you ever need it. I set mine up and run water over them to test for leaks or other issues. When you buy the tent pick up some water proofing and a bottle of seam sealant, most leaks are easy to fix at home before camp or emergency use.

The reality is all you really need is food, clothes, and a place to sleep. Lensatic compasses and CPM3V fixed blades are nice and all, but that doesn't help your actual daily needs.

D0 you carry water with you or just depend on what you find?

I generally carry 1-2 gallon per person per day and try to have several methods to make water safe in my truck and my day pack. Typically a filter or two and means to boil as well.
