On December 2nd, 2023 I was heading to my yard where I park my truck in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. As I reached my yard, I saw 4-5 police cars and 2 ambulances that were blocking 500 meters of the yard’s entrance. So I parked my car in the parking lot beside the yard and walked over to my truck as usual to make an inspection of my vehicle since I was leaving the following day for a long haul. As I approached the yard, I noticed 3 fire trucks lined up that utilized the fire hydrant outside of the yard to channel water through the hoses, leaving the parking lot covered with webs of hoses.
I approached the firefighter near the entrance, asking if I could check on my truck that was near the smoke-filled area and was directed to speak to the sergeant who was wearing a yellow helmet. As directed, I went inside the yard heading towards my truck and was pointed in the direction of the sergeant by another firefighter. On arrival of the scene, I asked the sergeant if I could access my truck for my usual inspections and was told I could proceed doing so. Before heading towards my truck I ask what happened to the trucks that caught on fire in front of mine and was told that the owner of the 2 trucks informed the police officers near the entrance that he had 2 mechanics working on his truck for welding projects. The owner is not aware of when and how the fire started since he wasn’t present at the scene and those who were: the two mechanics went to the hospital immediately. However the sergeant assured me it was safe to access my truck since the fire was under control and the fire fighters were just figuring out what started the fire. After hearing about what happened, I remembered I had a dash cam in my truck that would’ve recorded the fire and was directed by the sergeant to retrieve the recorded footage.
Then I retrieved the video and showed it to the sergeant and posted it here so the video is accessible to be watched anytime if needed.
