A tractor-trailer has gone off the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel and an active search for the driver is underway, according to the Coast Guard.

As a tractor-trailer driver I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often. You're working 80 hours a week from start finish. Easy to fall asleep or make a mistake.

About 4 years ago a cloverland dairy truck driver went in and died there also. His body washed ashore in the carolinas

3rd semi to go over in the last few yrs.. when is VDOT going to address the rails and make them Higher and more reaistant????

Either that or find another route for trucks if possible. I’m not familiar with where the bridge is located, but from what I’ve heard from truckers and watching news clips it doesn’t appear to be a big rig friendly bridge.

That bridge is not for the faint of heart. A narrow bridge over 17 miles of water that sits relatively low from the water, then dips underneath the water for a tunnel then up again, then underneath again, then up again. As Shaggy used to say..."Zoinks!"

I live right beside the beach and we were just there a minute ago. Also theres abunch of trees in the water i guess it was inthe trailer

Was it windy on the bridge yesterday? My brother hates the bay bridge tunnels, one wrong move and you're stuck on it for hours. I remember when I was in the Outer Banks, Someone broke down in the tunnels and I told my parents about it and they weren't surprised because of my brother hating those tunnels. RIP driver 😢.

No divers searching?? Doesn't it make sense to first check and see if the driver is stuck inside the truck?

9 out 10 he ain't make it out the seat imagine truck going over rail with weight of load and tractor it's going to take the truck straight into the water but when truck hit the water sure he was unconscious that's a hard hit pray for the guy and fam

By the time they call for divers and got them in the water he would have die. The only chance he would have would be if a divers just happened to see the accident and happened to have his equipment in his vehicle. To many ifs.if he didn't die from impact he would die from lack of oxygen in a minute or 2.

The max weight of a semi is 80,000 lbs...if the windows were up..he might have a lil time, if down...well. prayers for him and his family. ❤🙏❤

I used to use that bridge tunnel at least once a week when I drove over the road. It's something you dont think about. It would be difficult to do your if you did.

It's both bridge goes into under ground tunnel shit scary fr the guard rails aren't high one hard gust of wind it's a wrap I'm a trucker and don't ever wanna cross this again puts fear In your heart

@@wesleywalker8058, my aunt hates tunnels, they make her claustrophobic. My mom took pictures of the bay bridge tunnels to show my aunt, I guess that made her anxiety worse and she wasn't with me or my parents 😢.
