Ive always had this weird view, where watching the trailers come in, unpack, crews work and such, was always more interesting than the racing sometimes.

62 years old and remember the days of open trailers, the thought of something this big hauling a sprint car is mind boggling to me...lol

Sammy Swindell had the first enclosed trailer that I ever seen with a sprint car in it. 38 cars all on open trailers and Sammy in his enclosed. Now look at what they travel in. Takes some very tall dollars to run with the big dog's. From the first sprint cars that bolted on roll cages then came the plywood wings.......no kidding... actually pieces of plywood then the down tube chassis and then alien bars and the extra bars on top of the cage. What they call them I cannot remember right now. So now it's incredible rigs pulling awesome custom built trailers and what is really crazy is there is probably $250,000 worth of engines in there. Takes a lot of work to get a 1000 hp out of a small block. The cars are just so quick, the engine spools up so quick it is making power all through the rpm range. I'm not sure how fast they are turning them but a family friend of ours ran a 410 sprint car at least 25 years and back in the 90's he was turning his motor at a 8600 rpm limit.

To a degree I kinda miss the days of just loading tools and parts in the pickup and towing the car on an open trailer.

Too bad Ocean got rained out but I had to work anyway. Could hear the sprints down in Seven Trees area but I liked it when stocks were running. Hannigan's lived next track over. Damn county tore down grandstand after decapitated it. Neighbors crying about the noise a few weeks during the summer but not a peep when a dirt bike track was out in? Been to Eldora a few times

So I have been around dirt racing my entire life but it’s only been Modifieds and Late Models. Why do most sprint cars teams not have a toter trailer combo that they can stay in while on the road? We have had 1 and they would have more than enough room in the trailer part for storage…

With the fuel prices this year your "winnings" won't even pay for fuel to get from track to track. Totally asinine that a truck this size is needed to haul a little sprint car. How many more acres of land does the track owner have to have to fit 40 of these monsters? I prefer the days of pick-up trucks and vans pulling open trailers. This is just nuts! How much cooler was it to see that stock car arrive on an open trailer. My God, those tow rigs cost more than an average house.
