Hey man , You saved me . I just bought a KW , shop closing down .... But he said the truck has to leave now or within a few days . Started up and no air . So I will try this tomorrow but I am 99% this is it . Your videos are extremely helpful . Thank you for your expertise .
Ezra, just have to say to you one thing, when you are working with chemicals PLEASE WEAR GLOVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. My Father was a Mechanic for 35 years and died of bone cancer due to the beard hands parts cleaning. the gas and thinner gave him cancer. PLEASE PROTECT YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry for your loss but my grandfather died of bone cancer too. He wasn’t a mechanic. If you live long enough we all will end up with some form of cancer. Our preservatives and food colorings we allow in our food is more responsible for cancer. In almost every country the dye we use and most of the preservatives are illegal. And should be.
It's the Benzene in the gas and the thinner that causes bone cancer. But Benzene is in A LOT of stuff. It's in the grill marks on grilled meat. It's everywhere. You know what they say: something has to kill ya
Imagine how many OTR drivers get stranded besides the road each day because of such small problems, and how much time they waste and how much money they spend to alivate these small issues. In Iran, there is a general thought that says before you become a truck driver, your should be a mechanic.
Excellent fix Bro, damn satisfying to watch you make the call then be proven right , the best part was the fix and how well those valves moved afterwards. Its why we watch , thank you EZ 👍🇺🇸
What causes a 2016 freightliner Cascadia to lose air pressure? It takes a while for the air pressure to build back up. The air bag, airlines, the dryer and air compressor have already been changed out.
Great job, when you're a small fleet owner (in this case a fleet of two) you learn as much as you can about your truck or trucks. I'm a fleet of one myself and do probably about 90-95% of the repairs and preventative maintenance myself like you Ezra. Its a must in this line of work, if want to be successful and have some money in your pocket at the end of the day. If you are going to be in this line of work and own, operate your own equipment, it's pretty much a given you need to learn to turn a wrench on your stuff.
Im a fleet of one. Just took my dump truck to the mechanic for an electrical issue. Got it back to the yard and the brakes wont hold air now lol it never stops man 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for posting!! Had the same problem only was a different style compressor on 14l Detroit. Changed the dryer thinking that was the problem.. still wouldn’t build air… cleaned this the same you did now it builds air!! Thank you
It’s funny that you start the truck and walk away to let air build, cause gray motors take FOREVER to build air. Nice job on the fix, learned something new today. 😎
Great video!! I’m gonna do this to my truck today... I have problems with it charging air... I can leave it 30 40 or more minutes and when I come back it’s only at 30psi.. this is been driving me crazy! I’m gonna try this today for sure!!
Fine job EZ I learned something new today I was always kinda afraid of messing with the topend of the compressor because I always thought I'd have pieces parts flying all over the place.
You're right the egr engines are much worse for carbon build up on the unloader. The Cummins engines in our Prevost busses are especially bad to clean because of the location of the compressor. Great video
EZ, great work. I always figured, if it was already broken, I could not make it worse. I never drove big rigs, but I have traveled in a rig. Once I saw the driver slipping gears, I would do the same on gas trucks and diesel cars. I had a clutch blow up, on a diesel Jetta. I drove it for a couple weeks. The starter would run it in 1st, once she fired, I was away. My sweetheart tried to do it, but she told me to go see my friend and "Get IT fixed" Cheers to you!
I live in Canada, that usually happens when it's -30 in winter and you usually end up getting your hand froze real good before you can get the truck to build air
Worked as a welder for a trash and demolition hauling company , 100yrd live floor trailers ,trailer dumps and the like .About 20 trucks and a bunch of heavy equipment. Glad your channel came up in my suggestions! Love this kinda stuff. 👍🏻
Used to drive an old RD model the compressor would not kick out and I would get out and a few good knocks with a hammer would get it working again. Finally took it off and had it rebuilt and no more beating with the hammer. Ahh the good ol days...........
That's where I always need help. Diagnosing the problem.....It's always satisfying for me when I don't have to spend a lot to fix something. Great video.
Thanks from Australia! Glad to learn something new. My Bendix D2 governor is going straight to bypass, even when I swap it with a new unit. Gave this a try - didn't work but hey, I learned something new and my valves are clean again so thanks!
This dude needs to be in the next Mad Max movie. He would be the guy that tells Max that his car is 99% totaled and that he would need at least 8 hours to fix it.
I'm just a farmer with one truck but that was a good video for me. Don't know if that is my problem yet but at least I learned something more about my truck. Thanks!!!
I wanted to thank you very much for creating this video! Most of all, glad I found it & you on RU-vid. I am now subscribed! Today I was removing wet heavy snow from the runways and taxiways of our local airport that my family operates with a 1985 ford L 8000. I was noticing air pressure wasn’t holding when doing short back and forth work. Figured I needed to get the RPM’s up a bit so I took the first swipe on our longest runway. Something wasn’t correct and air pressure was not building, sure enough brake lite came on and I was out of business. I got a ride back to the building and did a quick search on RU-vid to learn about air system on these trucks. Sure enough I saw this video and figured I needed to give the fix a try. It worked! You are my hero! Thanks a bunch!! I fixed it in the middle of a snow storm out in the middle of a runway!! Also, the gasket broke in several pieces, I figured I would make one later, and focus on getting this truck off the runway..not only was I able to move the truck. The air system was working great! Didn’t even need a good gasket, fished the day clearing all the runways and taxiways!! Thanks again! Tony
love those quick easy no cost fixes....they dont happen often but i sure do appreciate it when they do!. i have one that is leav=king at the compressor head right now.
I'm going to give credit where credit is due. This video saved my beans today, couple of love taps and got the truck to build air. Sad part is I think on my mack granite you have to take the head off the compressor to access the unloader valve 😔. You the man Ezra, thank you for your content always enjoy watching.
Hard to beat a Bendix compressor. Easy to work on and pretty reliable for what they are. Not what you planned to do but at least it decided to stick an unloader in the yard and not at a job site!
It will biuld air in 2-3 mins. Just started it and walked away to do something else rather than sit there twiddling my thumbs for 2-3 mins. Generally leave the fridge on over the weekend to so doesn't hurt to let it run a little while to change the batterys
Thanks pal that really helped looking for the governor all that time, peer pressure only went to 60 and stayed there and went crazy thanks really helped out a lot
Great video Ezra thanks for uploading this video great educational knowledge I am gaining knowledge from your videos keep them coming God bless be safe out there
Very simple to understand brother that's what I like about your video's sir. Did you have a good Fourth of July? I hope you did and be safe brother your friend from Larned Ks Eric Houser.
Love watching this guys videos real trucker with imperfect equipment like the rest of always has fix to get ya where you need to go.any time I see it I click.
Hello Ezra cheers from Canada.. keep on truckin brother keep teaching most don't have a clue like us ole steel cowboys that cat sounds great in the ole red
Years ago had a truck build air slowly and loose air fast. Couldn't hear no leaks. Finally got a squirt bottle with dishwashing liquid sprayed from compressor thru entire truck. Main airline made more bubbles than bubble blower 😂
Dammm you’re Chingon man “badass” thanks for doing this videos for people we don’t know how to do it in keep making more videos. Hey the truck runs good to be over a 3 million miles 😎
You are the Charlie Daniels of the torque wrench I only work on cars n pick up truck but I don't know a thing about semi but anyway you are knowledgeable
i would so love to see three channels come together for one truck build , you , twin sticks and westen champlin as this ever been done before ? with you three doing a monster build over say 3 weeks it would bring tube to a halt
Only had that happen to me once. But the problem wasn't the uploading valve, I had put the truck in the shop for a new clutch. An come to find out there was an airline they forgot to hock up on the back of the transmission for the high/ low shifter. Didn't say much about the shops quality control but they assessed the problem and fixed it almost immediately.
I'm taking about an hour to build pressure. Picking up a new governor tomorrow and gonna grab an unloader rebuild kit while I'm at it. I'm thinking your video might just have saved another ass.
