Trucker Jay in the UK: I got searched while working 

Not sure why you’re getting upset by the security guy - surely that’s part of his security responsibilities?

Hope your campaign to clean up road sides goes well, but here is a radical idea that you might suggest to Highways UK, provide bins and get them emptied!!! Here I am not on about the plastic bins that fill up within 30 min and get vandalised but large metal ones., Put them near the start of service area slip roads so you can just stop and throw your rubbish into the bin from your vehicle.

Just remember with the security guards that they are just doing as they're told. I highly doubt the guy enjoys frisking a bunch of blokes all day, especially with the responses he gets. Imagine some people's hygiene... I've found that they always appreciate it when someone is good natured and even a little lighthearted joking. I flew with work mates for a convention one time and our flights were cancelled. By the time we secured flights and were able to head off we had to go through security about 4 times. One poor bloke's ticket was flagged for searching and he was searched by the same guard every time. When he came through the last time everyone was rolling laughing because they were joking about getting a flat together just to be funny. It was an irritant to be sure but being kind and even funny made everyone's day a little more tolerable.

Idiot in his phone, I've reported a tanker driver a few weeks ago on his phone, put it bluntly his boss wasn't happy at all

Body search as your carrying a high value cargo, bog roll seems to be highly prized at times. On the news there was someone hording a garage full of the precious paper.

That trucker on the phone will kill someone one day. I have seen it too many times. People like him are the reason that the hard shoulder is such a dangerous place to be. Also, I can understand port security...much of the apparatus of organised crime comes through sea ports.

I was surprised at you being annoyed at being searched, as an ex Forces man I would have thought you were used to stupid things like that. I am a former Royal Marine and would have just laughed it off, poor bugger is only doing what he is told.

does your yard not have a banksman to tell you where to leave trailers and stuff?? Also if all them pallets and stillages where sorted out you and other drivers wouldn’t need to block trailers in all the time

I'm a Security Guard. We don't make up arbitrary 'rules' to inconvenience the public. Usually, we have to follow company guidance regardless as to whether we agree with them or not. In my case, I work at an inner city supermarket. Imagine the joys of having to police Covid 19 mask wearing during the first and second lockdown... Apparently reasonably mellow people go from chilled to ballistic at the question of 'Good afternoon, do you happen to have a mask'?... Yup, there are a minority of security guards who love to ruffle feathers and incite conflict, but most of us would rather facilitate through passage of customers, even giving the 'benefit of the doubt' (CCTV footage can be reviewed later), rather than trying to be the big 'I am'- yup, we've all seen them- spiky haired 22 year old strutting their stuff in their glorified school uniform like they've joined the SAS... Personally, I'd rather catch thieves discreetly, and if in doubt, let honest looking punters pass. I'd rather hassle the guilty than harass most punters- better to review CCTV and be sure to get them next time. That said, 90% of human communication is non verbal, so usually thieves give themselves away.

Another good idea would be big signs warning of hidden CCTV catching you throwing rubbish & a fine system set up to none UK drivers 3 strike ban f UK entry but the 1st big fine should go to council for not supplying large bins

sadly it's just every man for himself these days, this is the type of thing a union would be good for, collective bargaining. i'm sure you wouldn't mind being random searched every now and then if it had been agreed upon by all parties involved.

Great video Jay, the security guard was a bit ott ! I used to work at RNAS Yeovilton and only had a vehicle search twice in nearly 5 years, I certainly didn't get body searched😳 I am finally on the road doing agency work in a 7.5 tonner, first day was a baptism of fire but hopefully better today

I had an issue a few years ago with an RDC security guard wanting to check my cab. I told them no and they reported me to my company who then informed the security guard he is not insured to go in our vehicles. It soon stopped. All it takes is enough drivers to say no.

if they are licensed security then they can do a basic security sweep of any vehicle that is entering a secure area, any illegal things found in the truck the police are called, it sucks but thats the rules, at least you know the security are doing their jobs correctly, still ... that security guy looks like he cant fight his way out a wet toilet roll bag
