Trucker Jay in the UK NO I won't run illegal! 

I’ve heard so many truckers say “you don’t need to strap that, it’ll be alright!” Never chance it!

I'm a van driver and we got a fleet of vehicles. Usually we would be assigned different vans each day. But now with COVID they do their best to give us the same vehicle all week!! x

At 7:45 - bugger. Having to change vehicle in these times with the corona virus doesn't seem entirely wise. And stay safe out there!

Not only that from what I see is that you are really dedicated to giving 100% in what you do I think you deserve your own unit

I retired five years ago after 40 odd years of trucking. when crash gearboxes and British Trucks where common place. rope and sheet gave way to the tilt. 32 ton moved to 38 soon 44 ton came about. log books was a drivers friend. the then dreaded spy in the cab the taco-disc arrived. T1, T2,s Avis de passages also trailer carnets for international working. Paper maps from local filling stations was the equivalent to GPS. Then satellite data. tacho cards and no clutch pedal (two pedalers ) Was where the Drivers freedom was clipped. Saying that I recognise the FH Volvo today. I managed 200+ different trucks through 15 countries n millions of kilometres. Volvo and Scania are the very tops. The Magnum is the best from the French. the Daf (AEC) is a nice Dutch wagon. The Fiat and Iveco both have a good heritage. ERF & Foden were also unbeatable wagons but cold because of fibreglass cabs. MAN n MERCS ( Megga-Space) were always boring utilitarian (Govers Wagons) Reliable but mmm There was Always something missing. Seeing the FH in this vid confirms it,s still comfy today but the mirrors look improved. Alan in Dover = Laser - Eurotraction - Roland Barton - Geoff Hart - JHT - Active TSP to finish with. thought I'd give you a tip for if you get another Volvo but when pulling off you do not need to manually release the parking brake as when you put it into drive and press the accelerator it will release for you automatically

Good for you sticking to your guns, I once picked a load up and started throwing the ratchest straps over, bloke comes back out and says, no good that driver, can you use your internals your going to damage the stock....me ''how much does a pallet weigh?'' he says about 800 kg i say ''no i cant use the internals if they are that heavy it has to be ratchets'' he wasnt happy but didnt have a choice. The irony is that at that collection you have to sign that you have secured your load.

With all the virus stuff at the minute they should just give every driver a truck as they must have enough to try stop the spread of the virus through the company if another driver or you gets it

Hi Trucker Jay, A good check round before starting your day, Nice. Im an x trucker, started driving trucks in the 1970,s. Im also an x instructor, you,d make a good instructor in time. To the point, Don't start your engine and then leave your cab on the queens hi-way, Its an offence, Im not getting at you chap, but the police will. I feel sorry for you boys & girls that show everything you do, good or bad, Didn't have cameras in my days.LAUGH We winged when from logbook they wanted us to use a spy in the cab (Tacho).

When i arrive in UK on the road to London the first interest thing i saw its Trucks smooth and clean like new, good luck Jay for your channel and your job 👍

I thought of that lady from your Class 2 days, running out in her dressing gown shouting "You hit my car. Look at the damage you did. Give me your details, and the company's phone number". Jay calmly reply's, "I did not hit your car", and "The company's name and phone number are on the side of the truck". Quick review of the footage when first driving towards her car shows damaged lower passenger side rear panel. Visible damage before you was even near her car, and if i am not mistaken the damage was too low and under the curve of the panel on her car for the truck to have made. (Failed insurance scam).

Dodgy deliveries are all part of a truckers life i would imagine anyway great vlog again Jay keep them coming.

Your right about that area of Dewsbury, I believe its Ravensthorpe, from what I see, Live not far away, proper dodgy area, you won't see me down there after dark lol once upon a time it was good for a pub crawl on that main road, their was a pub every 200 yrds back in the day.

The traffic has been an absolute joy over the last 6 weeks, I did have a run in on Tuesday with a traffic jam on the M6 at Stafford though, I wanted a pic as a remember ace as they are a thing of the past at the moment. Defo made life easier fo me and my B&M colleagues!

Another fantastic video. That was definitely some freaking skilled driving going though that narrow road to make the collection and coming out again, very impressive. Enjoyed the walk through of the daily checks to start your morning off. What was that little device on the trailer chassis at the back end when you flipped the cover up? It looked like some kind of thermostat monitor (Not that it would of been haha) :P

That your own sat nav? Or supplied by company? Financially can’t afford a good one yet. So it either google or car sat nav. Mark one eye ball. Will get one eventually along with the rest of the important stuff but until I dig myself out of the home I’m in I’m buggered!

A Mars a day, helps you work rest and play. Well that's what the add said. Wow that was a rabbit warren not an industrial area, if that had been a construction site H&S would have shut it all down. So much tat around the place and the car parking was terrible. It would have helped if some one had assisted you, strange how some places won't allow reversing without a banksman and others are like that place. Would not fancy hot bedding a truck, especially with guys not showering every day. I'd also need a Portaloo fixed under the passengers seat somehow, fitted with a double airtight lid. On a truck swap all the safety checks need to be done again to satisfy the driver, so it the reason can't be time. Is it the camera making the trailers at the yard appear to be packed in rows at odd angles, IE: Not at right angles. Seams that yards are chosen on what's available not what's needed for efficient trailer/truck parking. Your a better man than me or just crazier for sticking that job, thanks for posting and stay safe. PS: A loose fuel cap in a layby would mean an empty tank near Gloucester.

Its a shitter having to de kit every time , the only time we changed units was mot or repair

If fuel cap was loose do you think that some one sucked fuel out also did you leave door open so that thieves could see inside t being empty

So why don't you ask for your own unit all the time I drove in uk I always had my own unit not that I complained but I always took care of any vehicle I had and was not going clean another drivers mess even when I was agency and then spare driver I took care of the vehicle sometimes they got their truck back cleaner then when I got it and in this covid 19 you should have your own unit
