It’s ridiculous that we can’t smoke weed even for home off duty or on vacation in a different country. Yet I see drivers every day after work grab a six pack of beer at the loves, which is totally fine as long as you’re going off duty and not get blatantly drunk.
In the DPS crash, the death penalty should be on the table. Weed should not be allowed, how would those people feel about a driver going down the road high as a kite with a hazmat load. Stay safe
Drivers that choose to live a clean sober life have everything to gain from drug testing, in-fact I think I want more of it, I think random hair follicle testing should be mandatory, every year. The tighter the eligible driver pool becomes, the more leverage I have when negotiating compensation. That's what they're really crying about in that article. They want to keep the working mans pay in the gutter.
I also read where they slapped the cuffs on ole Marky Mark Staite! Looks like it'll be quite awhile til we see him racin' on down the road in that Prime rig!
Cash, where are you going, shipper or receiver, that does not have "something" tore up on their property from drivers? if not the damn gate before you even get in.
I think you should be able to smoke on your home time you can drink as much as you want on your home time, Should you be smoking and drinking on duty hell no nobody should be sitting in their truck smoking or drinking, I think it's going to be a matter time before they start putting breathalyzer tests in trucks don't come in with a hangover.
Another reason to enforce existing laws. Cdl holders should be able to read all signs on the road. Not being able to is not only dangerous it's potentially deadly!!!
I'm conflicted on the marijuana topic. Yes, the THC stays in your system up to 90 days or more. But that doesn't mean you are intoxicated for three months. You can get piss drunk on your home time, like destroy your liver drunk, and as long as you haven't indulged in a few drinks 2 - 3 days before hitting the road again you're good. But if you smoked a joint a month ago while on vacation in Las Vegas and fail a test, how is that fair when marijuana is a superior alternative to alcohol. On the other hand I appreciate the safety aspect and the fact the majority of people are irresponsible as shit. Driving an 80,000 pound semi while high, you deserve jail time. Until the laws change we have to adhere to what's on the books today. In the end I agree; if you can't live without weed, you can live without a CDL.
I agree with you. While I wouldn't mind being able to smoke every now and then I don't do it cuz I take my trucking career as a priority meeting. That's how I supported my family
