My first experience of European haulage came about by accident. I was tramping around UK delivering meat brought in by the European drivers for Eldridge of Silvertown. I would then pick up fresh beef from abattoir around the UK and take it back to the yard for the European drivers. One day I called the office to let them know my ETA and the manager asked if I had a passport. I said yes although I didn't. He told me to deliver the load to Dordrecht, Holland. I went to the main post office in Brixton High street and got a visitors passport and then drove to Farthing Corner services on the M2 and got my ferry ticket and caught the midnight ferry from Dover to Zeebruge. After tipping I was directed to Antwerp for a load of bananas for Sainsburys. I spent several years tramping around Europe with a reefer.

They were the real trucker's the 1970s was a fantastic time for trucks.

A time where none drove with " super single" on the front axle 😉....Thank's a lot one more time 👍....

At the 2⁴⁷ it s two Berliet of Transports Sisternas de Troyes F-10. The Transports Mahe were spécialised on tobacco's betwenn France and Danemark. 6⁴⁸ La Brujula and ⁸ 8⁴¹ I think it s the autoport du Mont Blanc in Cluses F-74
