My grandfather started out with a mule team in the 20's, had dozens of dump trucks and drivers when he retired in the late 70's. Lot of pictures of trucks and dirt moving equipment from the 30's to the 60's in the photo albums. I appreciate it all a lot more now than I did as a kid.

What year was the first diesel engine used in a heavy truck? And why were gas engines used in military trucks during WWll when the diesel engine had already been around for a while?

@@chessleyrichardson1075 I don't know if you build plastic kits but I think you'd like Monogram's 1/24 Mack AC stake truck, OOP now (the tanker is still available). I found the stake truck on Ebay for a good price and have done a bit of basic work on it: filling sink marks and removing flash. It's a large and impressive kit.

Virtually all trucks in the 20's had gas engines and hard rubber tires. It looks funny you talking about pneumatic tires while showing a picture of a truck with hard rubber! You might want to be a little more careful with your "facts".

My great great grandfather retired from driving in the early sixties with over 2 million miles from what I'm told, it's really interesting to see the type.of trucks he drove. I obviously never met him but still cool to think about. I've been driving for a year now

Two million miles in the type of trucks he drove I think was a pretty good accomplishment. After forty five years and I figure just short or just over 4 million miles it’s been a industry that has been good to me overall. My early years were definitely a love/hate relationship with trucks , they were also the best years.

O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 My dad was trucking in the 1930s & had some of these trucks even then. I learned that Volvo made trucks back then, but why mention them since they were made in Sweden. We’re they imported to America? What about Ford, Chevy, REO, etc? I think they had their share of trucks as well. Some good stuff! We sure made some unique looking trucks back in the day! My dad even used an old chain drive truck back in the 1940s. Thanks for sharing this info.🥰🤩✌️

Most truck innovations were solidly in place before 1920.These far fewer units set the path for the next 130 years. In 2021, the product is clearly degrading and the costs rising for your average owner.

Hay Jack. Is this your daughter doing the voice-over or your wife?. Here's a friendly tip. Find a new announcer. I'm sure her mother loves her and you do too but she does not make a very good narrator for this subject. Let her read stories for children, not men.
