I remember Glenwood Canyon as a kid in the late 50's and 60's, the 2 lane road before the Interstate was built, Glenwood Springs was such a small town and Vail didn't exist, it was just a ranch before the early 60's. In the 70's things started changing fast but it was a wonderful ride on motorcycles, now all the good open spaces are developed and pretty much gone, it's still a beautiful canyon but nothing like the Colorado of over a half century ago. Your "through the truck's windshield" video is a pleasure to watch as I'm pretty much a home boy nowadays, Thank You for your efforts.
I watch several driving channels, but you're the best. Excellent photography and magnificent views. Needs a little more fishing, but that's the cherry on top for me. Keep up the good work, we appreciate it.
The mountain man is back! You're awesome brother, Praying shoulders feeling better-thanks for inviting us on your videos 👍👍👍💪💪💪🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸let us know how you're feeling 🙏🏼
You're showing me places I'll never get to see. Too old and sick to travel. Thank you so much. Please be careful. Now days if you have a pulse they'll give you a license. PEACE.
Thank you for letting us ride along with You. I've always wanted to go out west and ride through the mountains. Don't know if I will ever have the finances to do so. Thanks to you I've got to see places I may never get to see in person. Thanks again, safe travels and God bless.
Been many year’s that I’ve driven through that canyon! Last time I went through it was 1997. Loved blasting through that canyon back in the 70’s when it was two lane, did it so many times I lost count. Beautiful drive, but the four lane takes away a lot of its beauty.
I'm from Aurora, Colorado (near Denver), and I really appreciate this video. I missed seeing the beautiful mountains. I'll have to go for a drive soon. These fires were horrible
Hi Mike, been a minute since we rode. How are you doing? Pain level under control? Something I’ve been wanting to ask you. Does your company support your activities in so far as the riding shotgun program is concerned? I thought that maybe the drop off in videos was created because of some issue the company may have had with them? I hope not because you provide a valuable information service to all of us and we look forward to seeing every video. The fire did considerable damage to the hillside. Hope there isn’t enough loss of tree growth to cause future problems with land slides and other issues. In any event I’m enjoying this one and await future rides. Hope your along with your recovery and on the road to painlessness. Be safe till next trip , thank you. Edward
Thanks for taking me along and giving me a chance to see some beautiful scenery even if some of it was burnt. I am so tired of being of being couped up this summer and having to look out my windows.
Hi.Be safe out there. That is a beautiful view love the mountain's. Looks like a good spot to go fishing I'm ready to go I'll grab my pole and let's go. I'm a country girl
Thanks for the video through Glenwood Canyon. It's always hard to figure what things look like from news reports. I'm glad you're back to posting videos. Take care.
Thanks for posting this. Beautiful scenery - now I want to plan a trip out to that area. Been to Vail in 1975 so another visit to those cities between Denver and grand junction off I-70 is ow on the bucket list. Safe travels.
Traveled this highway for the first time a month prior to your video. Came back east a different route or we would have needed to detour due to this fire. Thanks for sharing,,, love seeing your travels.
It was just a 2 lane highway following the river when I started working on it. Beautiful drive, but it would be hell trying to drive it like that now, with all the traffic.
I believe about the 13:00 mark is where the fire started, from video a river guide took when it was really small and between the two levels of highway. Thanks for sharing this; some of us Front Rangers haven’t had the chance to get out there yet. It’s good to see it’s not as bad as it could have been.
Hi Mountain Man Mike. Glad to see you are still trucking. I thought I smelled smoke when you went by the burnt area then I remembered I had my window open in the room I was in. The smell came from outside.
Hey, Granby, Colorado. My sister and I drove through your town in 2018 on our way east. We drove that incredible road through Rocky Mountain National Park. Unforgettable. Love your road trip videos. Best
When I watch your videos, actually I move from my couch to your passenger seat and watch the road as I am your assistant, and when you're telling stories I listen as if you're talking to me. It's funny. I do really enjoy the rides with you, one more thing I enjoy your driving skills because it's similar pattern to mine. You are strong hearted and master in assessments. God be with you.
Hi Mike, I'm new to your channel and I gotta tell ya, I now want to drive through Colorado! Its so beautiful. Thank you, thank you for letting me ride shotgun with ya. Be safe
I drove that road so many times, we came back to Texas but my heart is in the rockies. So sad to see the damage done by the fire, but I witnessed other fires on the area and I saw how that country can be so resilient and come back to life.
Good to see I70 is back open! That's great to hear hanging lake is ok! I have been up there many times! You ever hear of the burning mountain story? It's a good one!
So glad to have you back, & get out to ride through the canyon see some of the fire damages, listen to you talk. Hope you continue to feel better. Peace always be unto you as well.
Hi Mike so nice to see your ok got a worried about your health still nice to be riding along with you and to enjoy those views thank you so much cheers mate Jim from new Zealand
Hey Mike, figured you would video the canyon. Not as bad as i thought but still burning away north and south. Glad the canyon is back open. They shut off the concrete paving on 13 while the canyon was closed, but still traffic through Meeker was alot more. I understood 40 was a zoo from Kremmling all the way to Craig. Wonder how bad 50 was. Anyway i'll be traveling back to Denver next week for Labor Day and will get to see. Maybe i'll see the chicken on my ride back and forth. Keep truckin and video'n we all love it!!! Be safe.
Amazing ride through the canyon. Tragic about the fires, the unburnt sections give flavour of how used to be. Ignoring the fire damage though, those rock faces just awesome.
Nice to see your video thru the canyon. I used to run thru there for ten years going from Grand Junction to Denver 5 to 6 nights a week running line for RAC.
Wow thank you for uploading this. I was planning on going to Glenwood Springs and sadly my plans have changed. We had also just went thru the Glenwood Cayon July 28th! Again thanks for the post
An advantage to my old age is remembering the road thru the canyon being 2-lane, some still dirt. It was a hippie paradise to park by the water and enjoy some herb as the day and world passed by sloowly.
This a pretty route and has made me eager for our December road trip... our ongoing lockdown here in South Africa has given us cabin fever. Be safe out there.
Hello Mike! Hope all is well with you and your family. Such a shame about the fires. The scenery is so majestic. Hate to see it damaged. Bless you my friend. PEACE!
@@spikespa5208 It depends what they're doing. I-70 is completely worn out almost all the way to Denver. It hasn't had much attention since I was a teenager and I'm about ready to retire!
@@TheBandit7613 That's because it's the only east-west interstate route through the rockies in Colorado. If not I-70, it's I-40 in New Mexico or I-80 through Wyoming. HUGE number of trucks beating the hell out of the interstate. Too much traffic, and too few dollars in this poorly governed state to keep up with mantenance of the roads here.
Bud i hope your doing better, your vary good at your videos and i have seen most of your videos and i must say your a vary good Driver. Keep the good work up and be safe.
Storm King Mountain fire (South Canyon Fire) west of Glenwood Springs occured in July 1994 and killed 14 firefighters who tried to outrun a fast fire rising up Storm King Mountain, on the slope that faces i-70. Now there is a memorial park and mountain hiking trails you can take to the sites of the fallen firefighters.
Hey, so glad to see you back, hope you found out what the pain as been.you were supposed to go see your doctor. Sending you lots of good thoughts and prayers. I had no idea that fire's where in Colorado still a beautiful place. Never had the chance to travel out there.as I've said I like setting in my easy chair being in the passenger seat while you drive, but I truly miss being in a truck seeing the country. Hey would you please stop hitting those bumps so hard.that I don't miss.lol. be safe out there in all this craziness. Until next time.
I know that there are a lot of fires in the mountains. Are there fires on the prairies. This looks like Glenwood Canyon. Didn’t realize you had fires that close to where you live. I take its the dried brush. Glad to see you back. Really enjoy you informative and relaxing secessions.
When are going to Rock Springs Wyoming again? I know your company delivers to us and our neighbors . I have ask many a driver if he was Mike Yes I get a lot of weird looks. But someday.ya never know. Happy trails. .
So glad to get to see another video Mike- Been kinda worried 'bout ya- Get those others posted so we can ride with ya- Always enjoy your videos & get to remember my younger days when we vacationed in Colorado EVERY summer in the 60's & 70's- My Dad & 3 of his buddies hunted on BLM & private land in the Rifle area for over 30 years straight- None of them ever missed a year- Hoping your feeling better- Stay safe buddy!!!
