It has been a while since we were last up here filming, not far from where I live. Mt Messenger Taranaki region, North Island New Zealand. Mt Messenger with all its corners and steep climbs is an enjoyable place to drive a truck over and film I hope you enjoy this video Copyright Will Bishop

Thankyou Will. Fantastic videography. I enjoy watching truck traffic on Mt Messenger. I grew up in Taranaki and left when I was 50yrs to live in the South Island in Westport, Buller region.

Big beasties. The axle arrangements make me curious about regs there. As a truck driver shunter with 50+ years experience in UK, Europe and the old Russia you tempt my curiosity.

10:47 those Alexander Scania G540 are good looking trucks, 8x4 with the low cab. We had a 40' generator transported by one of them, it looks really awesome because it was the same colour as the truck same height, very tidy.

Quite a lot of the stock trucks have dogs to help load the trucks make good companions

Strange to see European trucks in 9 axle configurations. What kind of weight are they typically pulling in New Zealand? Axle limit is 8t like in Europe?

i see some of the trailers have short tow bars others short ones is there any reason why

Short draw bars for more length in the unit for more freight. long draw bars mainly for the bulk units so they can unload both truck and trailer without disconnecting by jack knifing thanks for watching.
