He has enough money to have chosen his family. Shows his true character that he chose a job he’s done horribly over his children and wife. He is everything he said he wouldn’t be in 2015.

Let's be serious, Sophie leaving had nothing to do with his job. It's all on him. If he gaslighted his wife the same way he gaslights Canada with his version of "reality" I totally get why she fled.

I think everyone would have respected JT more if he focused on his family. He knows he has put this country to ruins but he thinks he can save it. He should of focus on his family at the end of the day it’s just a job his family needs him more. And we need a new prime minister it would of been a win all over.

Whatever woes Canada is going through most of the western world is going through. Housing is an issue everywhere. The post pandemic world is just difficult. Did JT make mistakes? Sure, as will Pierre P will make, if elected. Pierre is all slogans and talk. Will he have action? I doubt it, he's too busy being sarcastic. I think JT needs to resign so he can regroup. I am someone who is 6 degrees separated from him. I know someone who worked with him, and she was very impressed, and she did not even vote for him. Personally I think he should resign so he can work in something more international, it's a better fit for him.

Andrea is bang on re: single vs married people running for office

Please stop saying that a woman does not get a choice. She does. We all do. We just often seem to pick the 'nurturer' role over the other. While there has been a huge societal pressure in the past, it has fallen away somewhat. Many female politicians have separations and divorces. I wonder...if Melissa has a crumbling marriage, would she leave her career and choose her family ? Does Andrea know that Mexico is part of North America ?

I was thinking the same thing...isn't Mexico part of North America? LOL

But she is right most women don't get to choose work over family. Everyone would've lost their mind if a women said I chose my job over my family. Who said "nurturing" is a female trate?

@@saly4762 You pick one generalisation and I will pick one. I would go so far as to say that men are the ones who don't choose. They have never collectively been nurturers so it was not even considered. While on the other hand, women have always had the family angle because of the biological imperative (they are the ones giving birth after all). And I think we can trace child rearing to cave paintings...so ? Now in more modern times, women have had opportunities to be outside the home. They are the ones with the choice.

I'm with Andrea. Its a North American thing. Iceland's Prime Minister Katrin Jakobsdottir, Greece's President is Katerina Sakellaropoulou and Hungary's Katalin Novák etc.

Greece's president is more of a ceremonial job, such as a Governor General here in Canada. You don't have the pressure of having to be reelected and you're non partisan. It's a much easier job than being PM. I am not downplaying her work, but it's just the same pressure.

In July 2022, Japanese video game company Nintendo announced its support for same-sex marriage and that it would recognize employees in same-sex partnerships as identical to opposite-sex marriages, in defiance of Japanese law.

I'm sure a lot of people would have appreciated that. But no, his arrogance won't let him. He should have taken the hint months ago and resigned. He is not wanted nor welcome anymore. At least Macron had the sense to read the room. Trudeau can't see through his "I'm a rose" tinted glasses.

Trudeau is the worst Prime Minister of my lifetime! Should have resigned a long time ago. We need Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives in power ASAP!!!

You must be young. Harper was terrible. Remember when Pierre and Harper raised retirement age and cut pension benefits at the same time? Remember when they sent body bags to reserve during H1N1 when the reserves asked for medical assistance? Remember when they gave tax rebates to folks to renovate cottages while child poverty was increasing? Pierre will be the worst PM, you'll see. Enjoy working longer for even less. He's not talking about cutting taxes, he'll cut services. His proposal is 'save a dollar to spend a dollar", which means the budget isn't going down, it's just the same but spent differently. Like "investing in cleaner tech", that means your tax dollars will be donated to corporations to invest instead of going back to you or a service you use.

We did have a female Prime Minister in 1993-Kim Campbell. Under the rules of the House of Commons, the Progressive Conservatives did not have enough seats for official party status. It was the worst loss for a federal government in Canadian history. Campbell was defeated in her own seat and announced her resignation.

Women can also choose - they just usually choose family. Men choose career over family; women can also do this. Women need to choose the partner that will support them. All are choices. Please don't put women down as victims.
