Ok! At request, here is a basics at true DDK level! ●New Store● teespring.com/... ●Twitch● / battsgo ● Support the videos and get rewarded! ● / dwyrin ●About● dwyrin is a full time U.S Go player and teacher
Learned SO MUCH in this one video: how to count quickly, OK to ignore a one stone loss if you’re gaining big territory elsewhere, the power of not trying to kill, connecting solidly to protect cutting points... you are an amazing teacher. I observe now that the Go tactics apps I have downloaded all focus on killing groups, so I mimicked that in my games much to my detriment. I’m having far better results with this approach!
This is so great, thank you very much. And this is exactly what I've been trying to improve on since last week (I'm 12k-ish) : try to have games where your shape is solid and none of your groups die, don't try to kill anything ; and the hardest part : respond when needed, and ignore and take big points when it is not. Seeing games that actually look like mine and being able to see which moves do you ignore or not is very useful.
Just remember, you can attack as well where I do not. I simply hold back to show the greater lesson at work and so people cant say "this only works cause you killed them" etc...
I keep accidentally getting to 14k. Scared I might show up in one of your videos. (lol). Thanks for the DDK love. Reminding me to keep things simple and go for the large points. #DDK4LIFE
Hey batts i have got a question for you... on 16-15kyu i can win without a loss and Rank Up too 14-13kyu on tygem without a Problem but there i only have straight losses because of all these weird invasions and weird sequences they Play i have never Seen before. My Basic approach often doesnt Seem enough because i Always try to live build protect my cuttingpoints but they Always try to manage to live everywhere what should i do? Study Life and death? I donno anymore
Try a higher difficulty with a handicap Cut your handicap until you start to lose again Then go back and try 14-13 K And good luck Remember to forget the ranking and just enjoy playing... and a Tsumego app wouldn’t hurt
I just wish when I play a "large" move, that it really is large. I have lost quite a number of games trying to play big moves and then either die, or not gain enough territory :( B.T.W. are you using a green screen for your recordings?
17:05 I'm not sure I would have seen the S8 tesuji as a 5k, but it's a cool one now that you point it out. On that note, I know there are a lot of books and other resources out there for improving endgame, but I'm curious if you have any favorites or ones that you've found helpful for SDK level?
Name of the wind. Respect *nods* Also, how do you get better at this game? started two weeks ago and I blow more than I think i should. Is there some standard I could compare my ceaselessness to? Thanks
Getting good at go is a long journey that depends on the person, but that's also a large part of the fun! I personally have played on and off for about 4-5 years at this point and I'm still only 9k. Just keep playing games and having fun
thanks for thinking of us ddks. maybe take more time in the reviews to explain simple tricks that you have not used in the game to win by an even larger margin...
Definitely don't do the AI stuff if you don't know what you're doing. Played a 13k who was really into AI stuff the other day. Was up by 40 points after 50 moves. AI gave me a 99.9% chance to win, too.
Just play. Get used to the flow of the game. Concentrate on playing big points and making your groups strong. As ive been told my basics series helps some beginners get to 10kyu
Also, watch all of dwyrins basic games before going to bed. It is part of my day routine. After ~2 years of watching and some fun 9x9 or 13x13 with a 5kyu at work, I started now on ogs. Currently 14kyu and pretty confident I get 10kyu by the end of the year. Only play basic style
@@jaroslavoswald7566 hi :) yes I still play. I am 6 kyu (sometimes drop to 7), but play mostly 19x19, and sometimes 9x9. And of course I am still watching dwyrin.
@@dwyrin been playing off and on for like 10 years and didnt know anyone that played. I love the game and only wish I was more consistant in my play and learning of the game this whole time I probably wouldnt be in the Kyu league lol
