I just wish the other seasons had this level of dread and pseudo-paranormalness that season 1 brings with it. Y'all have helped me appreciate how great this season really was
Season two kinda had some, Collin Farrells character had some for shadowing his death while he was unconscious. But not like you said, not the other worldly aspect like this season did. I loved this season. It is my favorite season of any show. Like season two. Season 3 was a snooze fest, 4 is okay. 4 is just a detective show to me, they add the paranormal stuff but it only strengthens the somewhat okay plot.
good analysis of why "we owe a debt" works on marty. i hadnt thought of it from his point of view. It was obvious why rust thinks there is a debt but good point that marty is looking back regretfully on that period too. it's cool there's still new things to think about with this show all these years later!
Great work! Please dont lose hope and keep grinding. Your breakdown on True Detective has been amazing so far, i only have 1 more episode to go. Then ill check out the rest of your content.
I just found your channel today and I listened all your True Detective Season 1 videos while I was at work. You guys do a fucking great job. Loved the videos.
I had so many questions about Dolores' character. She seemed indoctrinated into the cult. Did she witness the rituals? Seems like she was more than just a housekeeper for the family.
Yeah there’s no way she just overheard a few things. Had to be at least tangentially involved or maybe she saw something inadvertently which got her wrapped up into it.
When Rust is being interviewed in 2012...he looks so unhealthy. Pale, miserably mottled skin. Dry, stringy, thin hair. But after he connects with Marty, he starts looking a whole lot healthier. It happens, well, fast. How does one grow hair that fast? And he's tan! Like, in one day! By the time he's tracking the scarred man through Carcosa, he's almost healthy. Healthy enough to survive major surgery! Yowza! That dude has paranormal powers. ;-)
