My favorite Hip Hop Group of all damn time. If someone asked me if there was one sound that I could best think of that is the purest literal example of what untampered Hip Hop sounds like, without hesitation I would say "The Lords of the Underground".
I wish the young hip hop heads today realized that hip hop is the culture, not the brand name clothes, not what you drivin, not what you poppin,... etc
He is right, We are all older now. Middle aged!!!! I'm pushin 40, have kids, but the Hip Hop is still in me. I Djayed in the clubs from '93 til 2002. took 6 years off, but the music was callin me. Rockin a party today is nothing like it used to be. Im always playin the older music like Chief Rocka cuz it's the best stuff! Todays music has nothing for me.............sigh. Dj Cas. Lawrence, Kansas
I keep telling my friends there needs to be adult contemporary hip hop! It's true. Anyone who grew up to rock, can still listen to those bands to this day. I have no connection with what is hot now. I WANT to listen to rappers I grew up to, or artists with more mature content. Do it UP! Take back what the record companies high jacked!
i believe you have no connection with today's Hiphop with regards to the 90's Hiphop because the 90's was so good and these days artist don't have to pay the dues that say LOTUG or Wu had to pay, they are like the baby boomers they are given everything and its probably why they are not around for long, Look at Wu Tang or Red and Mef how many ablums have they released since their break out in 92 ? i doubt ' today's mc's will be even come close
I can still remember how the whole hip hop world went crazy when Lords dropped Chief Rocka! They literally kept the Jersey wave going!Don't get me wrong Naughty was taking the hood to Mtv n Red was the father of the off your rocker flow(ask Eminem!)plus the Queen was reppin for the ladies but when Here come the Lords dropped it seemed like other regions starting recognizing Jersey (New Jeru) as a force, especially our stuck up cuzns across the bridge!Ctfu
+Marvin Bennett I'm from Jersey.Trust and believe he don't rep me but these young boys luv him fam.Young man's game I been bowed out just bump my old mix jawns n k.i.m
I still listen to this group...I relive my teenage life every time i play any of their songs....I Love them....❤Here come the lords and Chief Rocka are my favorites
I grew up in this era. just watching again in 2023 and when i heard him rap at the beginning i thought i could listen to more of this. The style they had was so poetic, rhythmic and lyrical they could easily come back right now and do a striped down unplugged set. Thats how good their rap was. I would love to see something like that.
Man I ran up on this series by accident and I'm just glad to hear these guys and girls tell their stories on the old days of hip hop. Thanks for posting 'cause I'm oldschool too.
This is straight dope D i dunno if you did it-but you should enter this into film Festivals! Tight tight tight thanks 4 presenting this to us! Taking me back & schooling me on my hip hop lessons!
ACHH, Word! I loooooved the Lords. Did a show with them and Redman at at Colorado University in Boulder back in the early 90's. That show was banging! Peace to Do it All. I played the hell out of that album.
The thing that I remember the most about this album back then was that they made a video for at least 7 songs off the album...back then, nobody did that. You might get three videos from an album but the lord just kept on making videos.
early and mid 90's had great artist and groups come out like Lords, Cypress Hill, Tha Alkaholiks, Beatnuts, WU, OutKast, BlackMoon, UGK, Black Sheep, Biggie, Funkdoobiest, Souls of Mischiefs, Fugees, ect... from the start of Hip Hop up to mid 90's was the best now its to much people sound the same , not enough balance on the radio
I agree yoakimraps, but u need to extend the peak era of hip hop to at least '96 - thats when jay-z, the fugees & camp lo arrived on the scene along with underground southern hip hop going mainstream (master p, ugk, 8ball & mjg, 3 six mafia)...back in that era there was so much diversity in the hip hop genre - so much to appreciate...
chief rocka was the jump off...I always thought the singer brandy could have sampled that ....slow the tempo down and make it a R&B/hip hop street ballad
One of my favorite songs of all time. I used to lace rappers up on this instrumental. I'll lace your favorite rappers favorite rapper over this beat any day. Facts
He's speakin the truth!!! i just bought REDMAN's new album and is stays in my IPOD. I need the artist of my time to put out more records in our style of music. LIL wayne is good but that's my daughters hiphop. Sadat X said the same.
