I once owned the 1999 VHS copy, which didn't have either one, but it did have part 1 of the Movie Surfers' Behind-the-Scenes look of _Tarzan_ before the feature.
If you got the dvd you can get jackie chan (i think) singing the mandirne version of be a man, the spanish of this song (which i prefer and knew better) and a chinese version of reflection
You said it. If Stevie's duet with Ariana Grande last year Faith for the Sing soundtrack proved one thing, he maybe getting old but he can still make good music.
So, now that Disney has asked Christina Aguilera to re-record Reflection for the live-action Mulan, can we PLEEEAAASE get a new rendition of this song and reunite 98 Degrees with Stevie Wonder?!?
@@Lumina_Kay Yeah...I just...that wasn't a remake, that was an desire to ruin the original...I remember seeing this in theaters and nothing can replace the original.
+Soccerooss hehe for sure. Back then when the good times were awsome 8D. Of course i would know since i am a 90s kid myself xD after being born in 1990 :3
@@arvillajones3121 Oh yes it will. The Retro Decade Revival Project is gonna bring the good old days back into the mainstream. The good stuff of the 90s will be no exception, like Playstation, Nintendo and Hand Drawn Cel Animation.
I think the best part of this music video is Stevie Wonder appearing as some kind of Chinese Spirit Animal... with the most Stevie Wonder look on his face.
I agree. the classic one is better than the remake. Idk why there's no singing and dancing like the original one?? Seriously!? Whats wrong with Hollywood??!
We'll bring back the days when Disney was Disney and Music was Music. I'm planning to put together a Retro Decade Revival Project. Our goal is to bring real entertainment, true talent, pure originality and diversity, old school and more back into the public mainstream, starting with the 1980s. That means putting an end to cheesy entertainment, auto tune, mumble rapping, political correctness and other awful trends for good.
@@NurseInTraining You can help out if you want. You can contribute by creating campaigns to help fund the project. You can also list down the things you would like to bring back in the project.
I remember watching this video premiere live on the Disney channel during the world television premiere of Mulan and dancing around my room. Good times.
I didn't know Keke Palmer data version, I put Ravens version on my watch later but I definitely will have to check out Keke's. Somebody good needs to redo this, it's about time.
Baby, I knew at once that you were meant for me Deep in my soul I know that I'm your destiny Oh, though you're unsure, why fight the tide Don't think so much, let your heart decide Baby, I see your future and it's tied to mine I look in your eyes and see you searching for a sign But you'll never fall until you let go Don't be so scared of what you don't know True to you heart You must be true to your heart That's when the heavens will part And baby, shower you with my love Open your eyes Your heart can tell you no lies And when you're true to your heart I know it's gonna lead you straight to me (Got to be true...) (...To your heart) Ah, someone you know is on your side can set you free I can do that for you if you believe in me Why second-guess, what feels so right Just trust your heart and you'll see the light True to you heart You must be true to your heart That's when the heavens will part And baby, shower you with my love Open your eyes Your heart can tell you no lies And when you're true to your heart I know it's gonna lead you straight to me (You know it's true) Your heart knows what's good for you (Good for you) Let your heart show you the way (You know it's true) It'll see you through (Got to be true...) (...To your heart) Girl, my heart is driving me to where you are Well, you can take both hands off the wheel and still get far Be swept away, enjoy the ride You won't get lost with your heart to guide you True to you heart You must be true to your heart That's when the heavens will part And baby, shower you with my love Open your eyes Your heart can tell you no lies And when you're true to your heart I know it's gonna lead you straight to me True to you heart You must be true to your heart That's when the heavens will part And baby, shower you with my love Open your eyes Your heart can tell you no lies And when you're true to your heart I know it's gonna lead you straight to me (Got to be true...) (...To your heart) Sing the closing, boys When things are getting' crazy (crazy) And you don't know where to start (to start) Keep on believin', baby (baby) Just be true to your heart When all the world around you It seems to fall apart Keep on believin', baby Just be true to your heart (true)
I KNEW IT! Stevie have something to do with this song! I always heard this and thought it sounded like a Stevie Wonder song, but some parts of the song didn't sound like his voice. Now I know why; it was a duet! He must've mostly wrote and produced this. Really, he should've just song the whole song....
Oh god. How good it must be to sing like Steve Wonder. All you do is open your mouth and this beautiful, swingy sound comes out naturally. And it is palpable the much he enjoys to sing. What a given.
And the movie. But there is hope. I showed this to my baby cousin (6 years old) and OMG! She loves it! She has played the song on replay like 60 times.
Stevie Wonder was amazing but this song hits me really hard - it's motivating, meaningful, and also such a bop! I listen to it when I am too anxious about life.
I remember I was in highschool school in China when Mulan aired and this song and reflection were popular among us even it's in English. Today it will be considered culture inappropriate in the U.S. What a sad time we live in.
"Hi, 911? Yeah.. there have been 4 white males who have been following me since I got out of the Subway... They keep singing so they should be easy to find once you get here..."
Man this brings back memories of watching the entire credits just to watch this music video along with Reflection and it just brings so much happiness thinking of like 4 or 5 year old me constantly fast forwarding to see this
Hands down the most under-rated Disney movie song ever!!......and one of the most under-rated songs in general. Awesome collaboration between Stevie Wonder and 98 Degrees.
This video brought back wonderful memories for me. This video and the song took me way back; they brought me back to when I was a kid watching the original VHS of Mulan back in 1999 and listening to this music playing under the end credits sequence.
Until I watched this music video on my Mulan Special Edition DVD, I had no idea that Nick Lachey was a member of 98 Degrees. I only first heard of him when I heard about his marriage to Jessica Simpson but my dad pointed him out to me when I watched this video. And I never knew until a year or two later that Drew was a member as well. The things I learn, lol!
I remember the first time I saw this movie at eight years old, it was in a two story cinema and my seat was the front row on the balcony. My sister and I would quote the funniest bits for weeks after seeing it. Then I saw this music video on the Disney Channel to promote the movie I became a Stevie Wonder fan for life. Thank you Disney for a wonderful childhood, and please get back to the basics so when my kid is eight I can take him to a movie like this: cheesy, sappy, and memorable.
God dang, it's been nearly 20 years since I've seen this. Brings back so many memories, gives me the feeling that a Disney Channel Original is coming up next, and then Vault Disney.......Man do I miss those days
Jeez. I remember this from when I was a kid. It is crazy to think that yesterday, this film turned 20 years old and it seemed like the world didn't notice.
Three things as a child watching the music video, 1. Amazing how 98 Degrees collaborated with the legendary Stevie Wonder 2. The song's wonderful message of believing in yourself and trusting your heart like Mulan herself did 3. The fact that music video acknowledges and respects Chinese culture and traditions, especially with the sets, dragons, parade and lanterns. It reminded me strongly of the China section at the World Showcase area in EPCOT
I remember when the VHS was all we had and I would always rewind it 100 times to listen to this song even if I didn’t want to watch the movie bc that’s before RU-vid and I couldn’t just listen to it anytime I wanted and I didn’t have the soundtrack on CD I only had VHS lol thst was the good days and this song is a classic!!!
Mulan: thanks Mushu. *Mulan kiss Mushu forehead until Little brother chase bunch of chickens into the ancestors honor house* Grand Ancestor: MUSHU!?! Mushu: Oh boy. I remember that at the end.
After 13 years, RU-vid recommended me this lol Tbh I slightly forgot about this song but when I heard it now, the nostalgia is amazing because this and Mulan was my childhood.
GOD I love this song. Mulan was on TV this past weekened so for the past two days I've been, "I'll make a man out of you!" and "Why is my reflection someone I don't know?" and today in the shower, I was like, "TRUE TO YOUR HEART. YOU MUST BE TRUE TO YOUR HEART- THAT'S WHEN THE HEAVENS WILL PART AND BABY SHOWER YOU IN MY LOVE" lol this is my one of my favorite songs
My big brother bought this single back then. There are 3 versions ...including 1 an instrumental version in the single....which is the exact music but without any vocal or background vocal. He will blast it at high volume and sing like a maniac and pretends he is Stevie Wonder ! LOL. The funny thing was when he wasnt around, I started to blast the instrumental music too..and wow...it sounded amazing without any vocal too!
