Truecrypt plays Schumann - Symphonic Etudes, Op.13 (1/4) 

Yes, obviously behind Truecrypt is hiding a cultivated man with an excellent ear, and a profound musicianship. There is a lot of things highly interesting in this interpretation. Thank you.

You can't imagine how happy it makes me to hear you play. You've brought such wonderful music to youtube, and now you bring life to it with your own hands and feet. Truecrypt, my hero.

A truly special performance, Maestro. After drowning my mind in the bottomless void that is Financial Accounting, your performance of, probably, my favorite of Schumann's pieces has completely lifted my spirits. The interpretation is a seamless and elegant whole and yet has many memorable details and moments. Blagodaryu vas, uvazhaimyi Andrei.

Bravo! Big tone, big line, big heart!! For the information of all you youtubers (or youtuberians), the Symphonic Etudes have the reputation among pianists of being perhaps the most slippery, i.e., difficult to negotiate, of all Schumann's large piano works. Encore TC; your conception has marvelously prevailed over the recording conditions you faced. I would love to hear your Kreisleriana.

@dgaranin Thank you! This is a new "recording"... self-made 3 weeks ago. The result is not what I hoped for, but it's not entirely my fault. ;)

@truecrypt Congratulations with finishing this recording in spite of all odds, André! This is a major work every pianist would have in the recorded repertoire. The result is very decent, IMO. Is it an old recording edited now or a new one?

This is a wonderful interpretation! Full of poetry and emotion. Are you a professional pianist? The only thing I rgret is the "tottering" sound, maybe it's due to mp3 encoding?

Very much enjoyed your playing. In fact - for some reason - I prefere the slightly imperfect performances. As someone before me said: you do convey a deep love for music. Could listen to you for hours. No need to thrive for absolute perfection!

The recording process of Op. 13 was a DISASTER - everything that could go wrong, went wrong - poorly (if at all) tuned instrument, extremely heavy piano action, "knocking pedals"... I was left with 3 unedited "takes" - this is my self-made compilation. I'm very grateful to Erwin (pianopera) whose help and support made this possible. Thank you, Erwin and... Happy Birthday Dear Herr Schumann! I'll try to do better next time!

here we have the proof that a very important pianist/musician is behind the pseudo truecrypt. Someone who makes such a good choice and comments its not otherwise possible... I only had the chance to hear and see teaching Mierzanov and Richepin, Both were reflecting the big tradition behind them. (russian and frech school). But diamonds like Sofronitzky were hidden for me, thanks for training my ears and touching my soul....

@truecrypt I think you could repeat the attempt on another piano. Nowadays recording on a semipro level is so easy! What was the recording setup? I personally have two cheap flash recorders, Zoom H2 and Zoom H4, plus Audiotechnica AT800 stereo microphon, and the results can be pretty good in a good hall with a good piano.

Not one of your better performances, Sir. Too 'objectivist', right from the opening notes. Not even your copiously pored-out Russian pathos can save it. Even Russian Pathos needs charm, something of which you, in person, have plenty, and yet - here it is not. That said, I am sure the conservatory-trained reviewers 'adored' this performance. Moreover, there is too much 5th tuned into this piano, thus making many passages, which ought be otherwise lyrical and evanescent, ponderous and heavy. The treble on this instrument has what I refer to as 'Steinway-itus', this because, again, of the unbalancet way the bars on the soundboard are tuned - 5ths. That said, all is not lost, as the tumultuous sforzandi in the middle of this video help liven things up, a bit. A reminder that even the performer is a human, no doubt:)
