As a tyre fitter myself, I loathed fitting these wheels to a vehicle when I first started out fitting tyres. within a year these became my favorite wheel to fit up and even to this day they are still my favorite. Nice job Gordan. I quite enjoyed watching your skills.
You've mastered that! That's a good trick with the hammer handle as a square. I see a lot of sea-vans here in Commiefornia that still use that spoked type wheel. Sometimes they are so un-true it looks like the wheel's ready to come off.
I need more seasoned veterans from the trucking world as friends. I've only just started getting into my own heavy duty truck and trailer and keep finding newbie roadblocks that most people nowadays would just pay someone to remedy and old heads are just used to. Something as simple as using my damn tools to act as a square for my wheel alignment, I swear I'm afraid of simplicity, because something so simple went right over my head.
I'm not up on too much new stuff, although I am not by trade, a truck mechanic, I'm a owner operator driver who was a pro car mechanic about 25 years ago, I do have about 40 years experience doing a lot of different kinds of repair work, I don't know if you're a subscriber, if not, then my videos are mostly big truck, Bobcat, excavator, small engine, welding, electric, any DIY repair even on the house. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@57bagre I just had some tires put on my passenger side rear and of course the tire shop did not true them when they put the tires on and remounted. I'm curious if you had both rear wheel jacked up when you did this? Or did you have the drive shaft or axle shaft disconnected so you could spin it?
+Jaime Armendariz Bueno que estas mirando mis videos Jaime, no se si entiendes todo que dije en Ingles, espero que si, no olvides que dame un like. Espero que todo esta bien con su familia y manda saludos a todos. Cuidate.
These type of rims only go to maximum of 250 foot pound. any tighter they start to bend the studs inwards and often will completely snap off, once they are fairly tight they really don't move too much further inwards, therefore it really won't throw the balance out, even if you did go over the recommended torque settings. Just ensure the wedges/clamps/cleats are cleaned, the wheel spacer/cleats are in good conditioned and cleaned, also clean the rim where the clamps/cleats/wedges will sit firmly on the rim and you should have a nice true rolling and secure wheel.
Sometimes they true up quick, sometimes not so quick, the important thing is it is true, not like those tire guys that do those rail container chassis.
How come you never bothered with a Manual Snipe type Torque wrench on the Wheel lug Nuts ? , impact gun is not the safer way to do something that kill hundreds of people worldwide when Both wheels decide to leave the neglected thing.
