Thank you. I just practiced fixing a flat and noticed my tire was wobbly. You were the first recommended video that popped up after searching. Thank you very much. You are highly appreciated. Ride on!
Thanks so much, i spent hours on the internet and in person trying to figure out how to fix it. Seems like your solution worked with the soap method! Thanks!!
I wish I saw your video before I tried to change tires on my Triban RC 120. I didn't pay any particular attention as to how I was mounting new tires on my rims because it was a non issue with all my previous bikes. But these rims were fighting me from begining to end and the tire ended up crooked like you showed. It took a bunch of dish soap and massaging but the end result were several satisfying loud pop and a straight tire. So thanks for the video, it was on point.
Thanks heaps for the info. New to mtb. I was struggling to fit some new folding tyres. Couldn't get that bead even. Seems so simple now. Happy New year....
I had this problem recently when I bought new foldable tires for my old 26'er mountain bike. I think the tire beads were slightly smaller than then rim was meant for because at the flat spot the beads were actually down in the center valley of the rim. I didn't think to use soap water, I simply pumped the tube up until the bead finally pressed in at about 80 psi on both wheels. Then I deflated back to regular pressure and the bead stayed set.
@@Thestripper1 these days I would recommend soap water as well, or even just water if you're on the trail. Overpumping the tire too much can blow the tube, it's happened to me a couple times since I made this comment 3 years ago.
Good info. Rim was true, new tire not. Reinflated and reseating bead at at a few tire pressure to what I needed at max. Came out good and your video was just what I figured.
Excellent video and as far as I know - the only video. I am very aware that the tire needs truing as well because everytime I set up the tire, it is so evidently that oftentimes the tire does not look/feel true, right now I am trying to true the tire and thought to check online whether someone else realized that the tire needs truing and voila - I found this excellent video.
God bless u!!!🙏 I was asking some the one I bought from fat bike & a “bike mechanic friend!”🙄 & they would say , ITS NORMAL!!😈 I told them it wasn’t like this when new! & they would insist on their answer!! Ur advice , is rarely addressed!soo much thanks 2 u🙏🙏
Just spent hours messing around trying to get my tyres to sit properly. Gave up in the end & took it to the bike shop..... All they did was inflate the tyre to around 80psi popped in like a dream. So there you have it over inflate does the trick !!!!
I've just had the same problem. I just put plenty of lube on and inflated to 65psi and the tyre pop's it's self onto the rim perfectly. A bit dangerous but it works.
@@HurditHere yeah took me about 6 attempts kept getting braver with the psi each time until it worked I did it with a motorbike tyre the other day that worked 2 but it was seriously unnerving.
i have same problem, but i'm wondering if this can be a broken tire? maybe some carcas failure? wheel is new, tire is old (more than a year of hard enduro). i checked the marker and it is mostly ok (maybe 0.5 mm of difference in 29'' 2.35'' tire). does anyone experienced a destroyed tire that looks exactly like this?
do u have a tips or experience with skyway tuff mags, i have same problem, the tire did not fits properly on the mags. it's a brand new wheels the problem happen both on front and rear. Skyway tuff mags/ rim doesnt have edge to lock the tires on the rim
i dont wish changing the tire and tread on a decathlon triban rc 120 on my worst enemy. Terrible experience but the bike itself is seriously amazing and impressively low cost. I had just changed my tires and treads to a gravel set and am now watching this video before I get on the trail :D
I just got a RC 120 as well and wanted to change my tires. I've changed several bike tires in my life and it never was any issue but these rims seem to stick to the sidewall so bad that you end up with something way worse than in this video. Good to see I'm not the only one struggling with these Triban wheels. Next time soapy water will be in order.
right at the end, using soapy water did the trick for me for a bead that wouldn't seat. used about 1 part dish soap to 3 parts water; brushed it on,,,,and pop right in place
My gravel tires are extremely hard to put on true. I have to use isopropyl alcohol which is slippery and dries quicker than soap and water. Then I fill up to a high psi (80 for these) and then drain the air back up to slightly higher, drain. I continue to do this while making sure the pressure isn't to much. Works for me but always nerve racking.
One portion of the tire just wont fit correctly, i see the bead line goes inside the rim and then back out after 4 spokes, tried fiddling the tire by hands just like you are showing but didnt work. I am still trying
@@e3361 I have the same issue as Chris and the rim is not dent. I think I just messed up the tyre itself because on the first attempt after fitting the tube I inflated it to max without doing any massaging to ensure the seating is correct. this seems to have morphed the tyre and I know that because I can slide the tyre while on the rim and the same spot always caves inside the rim like Chris explained. Oh well, that was the cheap factory tyre which I wanted to replace since day one but waited till winter. They always seem to fit cheap tyres on factory bikes, cheeky bastards.
5 days ago i bought new tubeless front tire to my motorbike and faced exactly what u r showing! later puncherman set the inner tube but it doesnt work too 😟, he advised that sometimes this problem occures due to storing, sellers stack the tyres in long vertical column and that was wrong.
My Schwalbe tyre has stretched in last 5 months since a bought the thing, can’t even fit it on the 26’’ rim just slides off where as usually a tyre is tight well this is loose as n pops out when riding
First of all, thanks by heart for such a wonderful explaination. It really helped me alot. Can I use Nlgi3 grease( which is not too thin or too thick) on the corners of the tires to make it set? I had been having the same problem and I thought that it might be because of the bearing balls or probably because of the spokes. I changed the bearing but still the problem didn't solved. Then I realised that it's a problem related to the tires not fitted well on the rims. I deflated and inflated and the wobbling reduced. My tires are still not perfectly in sync with the rims yet because of which I am still having the problem. Thanks to you for explaining really well. Now I know what the root cause that have been and I am gonna solve it :) Just wanted to ask if it is ok to use a little bit of grease rather than soap if normally I am not able to make them sit in sync with rims?
3 hours trying to fit Schwalbe Nobby Nic 27.5x2.8, so I had success only with plenty of soapy water on the tire and the rim. Inflated to max pressure and it just popped. Good luck ;)
Who's watchin' this 2020? (ps I might repeat some of the pts from the vid) If you not sure if it's the problem of the rim or tire, get yourself a zip tie (as an indicator). ------------------------ Imagine it ain't the problem of your rim also the tire itself, then try to put extra soapy water, and pump extra air in it. Don't worry if it ain't sit properly at first, that happens when you don't have enough air pressure (15psi may not enough at this point)! Keep pumping! Usually, inflate to your avg #, if it ain't sit properly still, then try to inflate a lil bit more!
I have this problem with my rear tire and whatever I try to do it doesn't fix it. I think the wheel isn't trued and the spokes on that spot are too tight.
Freezing temperature and a new gummy tire do not mix. I had to lube the rim with warm soapy water, inflate to max pressure, and it popped. The tire is correctly seated now. I got a workout. :)
I'm sorry but did you say 50 psi? Mountain bike tires should be pumped up to around 35 psi, maybe even lower on a full suspension. It will give you much more grip on the trail and a little extra cushioning.
This never happened to me on my road bikes and I had a lot, I mean a looooot of flats. Never “massaged” a tyre before . WTF :). I think not knowing this is a problem with wider tyres (the widest I had was 30) I inflated it on my new hybrid to 4.5 bar immediately after placing in the new tube, and that seems to have ruined the cheap tyre because I cannot get it to fit even after messaging and even after I tried to sooth it with some champagne and strawberries!!! Its good that I saw this video because now I will not repeat the same mistake with the new better tyres I just ordered. Hybrids are such drama queens and high maintenance, literally. Road are the best, actually single speed are.
This happens a lot on the Kendra kwest cheaper tires ($16-25$) range. It is a manufacturing issue and it means the tire itself ( 2 half's) does not have a centered glue line ( middle section around tire. You can true your wheel with the tire and tube on but you have to true the spokes in 1/8 turns very slowly. Cheap tires you sometimes get this issue but can happen also on more expensive tires. This issue happens even if the tire is mounted properly.
That’s why Jenson had some wolverines at $10 ha. I did everything, I even measure the sidewall and nothing. Pump to 85 Psi move up down, massage the tire, nothing. Will this break something on my bike like he said any experience on that. Thanks. No more Jenson.
No matter how good your wheel or tire is, there is deviation existed, sometimes the deviation is too big the tire just can't sit(soapy water/more pressure) . That happened to me, I end up swap two sets of tire to make it work.
Actually the fix is pretty simple Pumb the tyre to its MAX pressure it will align itself immediately and then decrease the pressure where you please You are welcome
Defectordrunkzone thank you I’m going to try this ASAP I just got a new bmx and the tire bulged and it’s very noticeable especially when riding so I’m going to try this
So I bought schwalbe smart sam 2,1 tire and no problem like with that wtb ranger 2,0. It's a bit narrower than wtb, so I'm going to buy another 2.25 and put it on rear rim.
I had to use washing liquid as lubrication, to get the schwalbe marathon winter tires, to pop onto the place on my merida cyclocross 500 rims.. But even by using that soap, I could not get them absolutely right. I hope the soap won't damage the tire rubber.. And those Schwalbe tires were actually not so bad to mount, because they had wired beads. The folding tires that bike came with... I do not know, how the guys at bike shop had got them straight on.. I just couldn't get them straight back, no matter what.. Increased pressure to max and, then bouncing against floor, hoping it will pop onto place.. Nothing.. Only after some hundreds, kilometers of ridding.. they had somewhat settled to almost correct place under load..
Seating tires properly can be real pain in the ass. Just get a rag and soak a bit of it in some soap. Then run that same rag around the beads and use a compressor to over inflate it in a blink of an eye. It. Works. Every. Time. Haha Cheers
This is my first road ru-vid.comUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and I have taken it out a handful of times and so far it is exceeding all of my expectations. I didn’t want to break the bank on a first bike and the herd is a great option for getting a fast bike with reliable components. I plan on riding this bike for many years to come. Thank you Sava!
Now, I'm almost certain companies like Wiggle are selling faulty tires cheaper. I've just spent 2 f...g hrs trying to seat a tire properly I bought from them. Never again will I buy another product from them.
Just tried this and still can't get my tyre to sit right. Ended up piercing my inner tube, also. My thumbs are killing as I've been at it for hours trying to work out why it won't sit right! Arghhhhhhh!
thanks for your info but it didnt work, i ask the mechanic he said i need to use the compressor, coz my tire need a fast and high pressure to push the seal of the tire to the canal of the rim. thumbs up and sub. to u my friend.
