Best part about every new Xenoblade release is watching how Enel figures out how to utterly break the game in about an hour before you even get the entire party lol
I feel like the speedrun of this game could get very interesting. Since side content is not mandatory this time, there might be quite a few different options. Either just book it to the end or take some detours to get accessories and affinity points to make later fights go by quicker. This might be one where the routing changes a lot, especially in the early days of the speedrun.
I'd reckon that optimal route would be something like: -Blitz the game with only "necessary" upgrades until you get Rex and Glimmer, but grabbing AP when the opportunity arises, -Invest everything into Rex, A, and Glimmer, -Win. I imagine equipment routing will be of the utmost importance. Rex is particularly important because of the free launch he gets in regular combats. This allows you to farm Enemypedia points with amazing efficiency. He's also important because he's the most broken character in the game. However, he really only needs the Exploit Weakness gem, and his equipment isn't too important either, outside of an accessory that increases damage to launched enemies. A and Glimmer, then, exist to keep Rex alive and get him back up. They could definitely use the gem slot. Matthew, Nikol, and Shulk, then, exist as combo bots, and also keep A and Glimmer from taking too much damage, so they would likely get the leftover equipment and gem buffs.
To anyone wondering: if you equip a chain attack accessory that gives a completion bonus rather than a heroic chain, then the healers will still be able to hit the 99% point limit! :)
@TheRealZura if the manual equipped has a Heroic Chain effect then the class effect (First Blood/Point Limit/Back in Action) will not occur. If it has only the completion bonus, class ones will work. If it had both a completion and heroic chain, then class ones will not occur.
One small thing you didn't mention is that if you use a Unity Combo on a launched enemy to get the bonus effect both characters involved also get the Awakening buff, which is especially important for Shulk who has multiple arts that get bonus damage when Awakened
The combat was pretty sick. The lack of daze streamlined combat so well (I mean who used daze once they had launch and smash) and making it so the only thing that mattered was launch made it a lot simpler. Especially when rex has Break-Topple as fusion
She does "DPS" damage with some amazing buffs for pops, good AoE damage and great amounts of healing, with some debuffs added on for flavor! I say "DPS" with quotation marks cuz Rex redefined what that acronym ACTUALLY means, so..
After nearly 100% the game gotta say, the variety of customisation makes grinding the side quest/exportation so much fun. Also matthew cancel recharge is just as fun as spinning edge rex
Enel once again being the hero of the Xenoblade community since Blissey+Typhlosion raids make it near impossible for me to boot up XC3FR atm, but that will change when Inteleon releases.
I did with A what you did with Rex. It’s now at the point where she consistently holds aggro and it doesn’t matter because of how much her auto attacks heal her.
Plus her talent art is literally the best "save your butt" kit out there. I thought being only to use it once would make her suck but I imagine once you max out everything, battles will be over quickly anyway.
Matthew ended up being super solid. He became an art spammer by using the accessory that gives a chance of keeping his arts, stacking it with his innate talent. Then add on the chain guage item on art usage and the break brooch and you get the ultimate chain guage battery.
A strategy I really liked (as someone who explored and progressed all the characters equally) was pairing A and Rex for CLEAVE HEAVEN AND EARTH (the only pairing name I remember its so sick) and have Rex built with his launched up fusion art and an increased dmg on launched targets by 110% accessory, so Rex is just demolishing launched targets which ofc makes him a powerhouse in chain attacks. Give him the damage ratio multiplier hero chain and use orders that boost the dmg ratio by 100, plus another character with the boost dmg ratio by 50 hero chain, the damage goes absolutely insane. But that's not even the crux of the strategy, pair Shulk and Mathew on top of that and they start with (or if its not upgraded are close to getting) their unity combo, and since you're likely going to be getting a launch towards the start, that lets you start a battle off with quite the bang. Start as Shulk, save your break for if Mathew's (or Rex's if you have him built for it) break doesn't pop, then while waiting for the launch you can arts spam as shulk and get aggro for your damage mult skill (canceling his keves arts charge his agnus arts with just the right amount to where you can cancel almost all his arts together like that I find it so sick how perfectly he was made to start a battle with), and then you can unity combo and use shulk's awakening boost (on top of his one art with it extra dmg for it he also has a fusion art with it) and can pretty easily get in a monado buster before the awakening's gone. If you used Mathew's battle start ability for fast recharge and after the unity combo get your break to proc instead of Mathew's then you can get in two, or if you're in a fight with multiple enemies aggrod on to you. After that you can arts spam the rest of the awakening with mathew or if you have accessories to charge it faster go right into a chain attack, where A/Rex come into play. Haven't found a great use of Nikol specifically in this strategy and honestly I try to keep him from getting aggro for Shulk's damage mult but I did stick a hero chain that reactivates everyone but him on him and that's done me good for round 1 of chain attacks, and ofc Glimmer buffs are appreciated, but that's about all I have for those two so I'm probably underutilizing them. But yeah you mention you weren't clicking with Shulk in the video so I just wanted to share my strat somewhere and since I've been loving Shulk in this thought it'd be good to add. Haven't watched your character guides yet but I just beat the game today and starting post so I'm about to, looking forward to seeing what you came up with
Oh Yeah it's all coming together it's going to be great to know we're getting Guides on Best Accessories/Chain Attack Accessories Class Guides yet again & a Class Tier list & more others.
minor correction (not sure anyone mentioned): in union combo, no one get s. But that the enemy will stop attacking (but the current attack animation won't be canceled), and the two participant cannot die (leaving at least 1hp).
Enel dumping all resources into rex is the "actual" JRPG equivalent of using your overleved starter for the entire pokemon game It just works I did matthew but thats bc i have what i call main protag syndrome (Dump stuff into MC, then everyone else based on based factor, that would be Rex and A)
I've been going through this game at my own pace! The progression is so addicting and hard mode is making me love the combat even more. However...im currently stuck on a certain level 33 boss and I NEED that story
i am gonna be curious to see you run this, unlike the base game this looks like a good game for speedruns also i'm on hard mode and can confirm that Rex still carries everything
I hit damage cap a minute ago and I NEVER would’ve thought I’d hit damage cap on a game BEFORE seeing your guides. I’m so ready to see what these characters can really do!
Idk what it is but I always feel like I've never really understood the combat in these games. With certain fights especially in hard mode it feels like levels aren't the priority, but instead the items and gems play a huge role in every game and if you're missing something in your set up everything just falls apart. I could be 5 levels above a unique monster in normal but depending on how tuned the enemy is none of that matters unless you have what you need at the time.
I too invested a lot into Rex early! His burst combo with Glimmer at times would result in some unique monsters just losing half of their entire hp at one time when that happens. Looking forward to your "superbosses" and grinding guides because i am stuck on those unbreakable sparkers
Sadly it’ll be the last Xenoblade understanding of ombat guide, I love your work even if I prefer to finish these games by myself at the max difficulty, but you certainly helped a lot of people get trough them and have a great time. The speedruns of this dlc will be crazy.
Well, assuming Enel continues to make these types of guides, this probably won't be. They confirmed that the series isn't over, it's just that all of 3 + DLC is the conclusion of the Klaus trilogy storyline.
this is more of a xenoblade 3 question, but why do accessories that boost crit by a certain percent (not percentage points) show an increase lower than expected? is it boosting the base crit rate before the other crit increases?
Thanks for the info. Really great video as usual. One question, I have heard that 2 heroes are unlocked in the main game by completing the dlc, are they good? Can you change their completion bonus in the main game as well?
Shulk and Rex are unlocked via a time trial after beating the DLC. They are a little unique because their classes cant be learned by other party members, nor do they appear in event cutscenes. They're also near identical to the DLC in terms of stats, but you cannot choose their completion/hero bonus. (Completion bonus and Heroic chain info are in the Read More just in case) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . They also get their original game music to play when you have them chosen (like Nia and Melia). Rex has the completion bonus, Deliverance Hew: "Reduces enemy physical defence by 75 percentage points during Chain Attack." with the heroic chain being "Multiplies TP by 130% when first in line to attack, and makes all attacks critical." Shulk has the completion bonus, Liberation Edge: "Increases damage ratio by 100 percentage points and grants Power Charge to all allies." with the heroic chain being "When character completes an order, adds 20 to the TP of the character with the most TP and reactivates them." one of shulk's arts still has the effect "Awakened Boost", but i'm not sure how he gets the Awakened buff in this.
Has anyone else been having a lot of trouble with FR? I don’t know what they changed specifically, but it’s really difficult to win against anything on level.
FR really feels like a game that rewards the side questing addicts like myself as lots of AP/ and kits are hidden behind either quests or relics, just make sure to explore more and get your affinity level higher (or just use Rex 😂😂😂)
@@zedleeftw6695 After I got Rex's crit rate above 90%, it started to feel a lot closer to the difficulty of regular XC3, so I guess they were expecting us all to level the crap out of him😂
Made it all the way to Chapter 4 last night, and Ended up Beating Fograptor ???(The Photonium Cave Unique Monster) Had to do my first Chain Attack Union, Used Light Avalanche(Matthew and A's Union Order) and what was the Reward? The Union Upgrade for Slash Burst!
god this fight gave me a ton of trouble cause they were very weak for me, mostly just control glimmer, spam the field effect to heal as much as possible.
This boss was much easier when I started trying to break as much as possible. Pair up rolling smash and anchor shot on rex for a fusion break+topple chance. Also chain attacks are very nice.
Question : My first Xenoblade game is Xc3. i haven't played XC1 & XC2, i bought the DLC Expansion so i have future redeemed. Do i need to play XC1 and XC2 first before playing Future Redeemed? or i can play it without playing the previous ones? 🤔
This is probably in the menus somewhere but: Does Awaken apply when you use a special, or when you use a special on a launched enemy to complete a Unity attack?
One thing I'd love an opinion on, how good do you think Shulk and Matthew's unity is? Since Shulk gets a lot of benefit from being awakened and as far as I've seen from where I am in the DLC (just reached colony 9) the only way to get that status is by using a unity attack. So since their unity skill starts them at 70% is that as good as I think it is as it'll let shulk awaken much sooner? or would it be better to go with Shulk/Nikol and Matthew/A?
It also makes it extremely easy to get a burst within the first 5-6 seconds of most fights. Extra drops are always appreciated and it seems to be maybe glitched since the burst seems to be aoe. Thought I was going to crash my switch when testing it on a big pack, it was like a damn piñata
I love the customisability the game gives you. Do you want a build that focuses on buffs? Equip a unity combo that makes buffs stronger and use ouboros powers that apply more buffs. What to do the same thing but for debuffs? Go ahead. Do you want to break the game as Rex and want to spam the same art over again and do a morbillion damage? You don't need a specific set up for that but you can make it even stronger anyway. Seriously Rex in this game is busted
