Truma 4e combi install. Would highly recommend this piece of equipment. We choose this boiler instead of seperate heater/water heater system to save on space and cutting holes in the side of the van.

Love the detail in this video Scott. You mentioned before that you were selling the van and embarking on new adventures. Any update?

Hello. Great video. It says in the instructions that not having pvc carpet directly under the boiler because its getting hot. Have you done that or isn´t it a problem?

Lino underneath ours. Never been a problem.

Thanks for the video. Do you know if you can fit the Truma under the van like an Eber?
@ScottAndJen
@ScottAndJen Год назад
Not that I'm aware of, unless you have a floor void that would take the dimensions but then that is not under the van

great video thanks! Im thinking about an installation adventure with this machine, I can't find clearcut answers on a few things: - How much length can the output heattubes be (so you keep hot air coming out instead of cold air)? - Can it be used when the boiler is not in use (and I mean not connected at all to any water source)? - How much electricity does it consume in combination with a connected truma controlpanel? (I read somewhere 1.6ampere, is that right?) => does it have a power peak at start-up? (i need to know how much peak ampere because i'll need to buy a transformer to get 12V from my 230V sockets and it needs to be strong enough to handle the power peaks). Would be greatful for your advice!

Hi in response to your earlier question. - if you are using the boiler in a van we have an outlet near the back doors of our lwb van and the boiler sits as forward as it could behind the bulkhead. We have two other outlets and when these are open you are still getting warm but not hot air from the back vent. If they are closed the back vent is hot air. This might give you an idea of power. It really is how long is a piece of string question. - boiler usage depends on many different variables. Ambient room temp. Van insulation. Outlet positions, residual water temp, what temp you have panel set at etc etc. To answer that would be an impossibility. All I will say is it is a very eco machine so consumption has never been a problem for us even in the coldest of alpine climates. - the boiler is sure to peak on start-up but no idea on what it puts out I'm afraid. I would imagine even the smallest of inverters would be able to handle though. Good luck

could you have the manifold underneath the van (running the gas lines underneath) and then have separate cut offs inside the van?

Hi George. That is our setup

Hi man great video. Can you tell what's the electric consumption of the truma. Can you power it only from 12v without needing an external powersourse. Basically can it be run just from solar panels and how much does it consume. Thanks man looking forward to your answer 👍
@ScottAndJen
@ScottAndJen 3 года назад
In theory yes it can. However I would suggest not. It's will create alot of excessive wear and tear on your batteries as the 12v will need to be converted to 230v to heat the boiler. LPG is dirt cheap I would suggest the electric feature is mostly for when you are staying on a campsite with hookup

@MrSharK97 3 года назад
@@ScottAndJen Sorry man I asked the wrong thing. I meant to use it only with gas and you still need the 12v electric right? So how much it will consume if you use it with gas and just power it with electricity? Thanks for your quick response 👍 👏 👌 😀

Yo, some Truma's are designed to work of both 12 volt and 240 volt depending on the model you buy. That's what we have fitted to Crafter Sharkey , B@@ScottAndJen

Hi Scott I saw you installed it at 90 degrees compared to what is in the manual, so you installed lengthways with the direction of travel. Is that allowed? That would help me a lot :)

Hi Michael. It's been 3 year since I installed ours. It was pretty simple plug and play and the instructions should have came with the boiler. Red is usually live in 12v systems and if you get them the wrong way it shouldnt be a problem just swap them if you are having no joy

They do not come blanked but I see no reason why you couldnt blank them
