I’ve been retired since I was 55 years old and I’m 76 now when my grandkids were little, I didn’t mind taking them for a day or two, but I would never have been down with taking care of them every day of the week so the parents can work because that’s their responsibility not mine, and only an idiot would suggest what he did in regards to babysitting as that being the solution what a fool
@@maryhayes6646 That is great. I suggested that at my job. They did a survey and decided it would cost too much. So, I feel for women who can't find good day care. I worked with a woman who had 2 kids. She worked afternoons, dad worked days. She brought them with her to work because daycare closed at 4 p.m. He picked them up after he got off work. It is difficult. Staying home with them is not always the solution. Available daycare should be affordable.
@@maryhayes6646She left her law career. Her mom is taking a year sabbatical from her own job to help with the kids. Not everyone has that luxury...... Most extended family is still working or lives too far away or is retired and doesn't want to be taking care of kids anymore.
If it wasn't so hard to amend our constitution I would be recommending that we take a cue from you guys and make voting mandatory - except with a much, much higher fine for failure to comply with that law.

When our children needed watching both sets of Grandparents lived thousands of miles away ... and all their Aunts and Uncles were working. The guy is clueless.
Sorry but my grandma can't babysit because.....SHE STILL HAS TO WORK!!!! My grandfather can't babysit because he has dementia and that's why my grandmother is still working to pay for his medical bills. These people are so out of touch and so are the people who vote for them.

Both of my father's parents were dead before I was born. They died of old age as my parents were 39 and 41 years old when I was born. My mother's parents lived 3.5 hours away until they retired to Florida when I was 4years old., 1400 miles away. No free daycare for my parents.
My father's mom died when he was four, his father when I was born. Mom's parents were divorced long before I was born, a rarity in those days. Mom's mom was 68 when I was born as the single child. We had some contact with mom's dad after their divorce, but it was seldom and far between. My grandparents taking care of me? How and when? Pity we didn't have Shady Vance as a consultant back then. But we managed well all the same, all by ourselves. We had to.

A couple of my nieces who are in their 40s are Grandmothers. How can he say "maybe grandparents can help out" if they still work full time jobs too?! Not everyone has grandparents or those who can babysit all day everyday...
