I could tell Donald Trump Jr. was holding back tears. And the shooting has affected Trump. It definitely was traumatic. That man almost lost his life. He turned his head the moment the gun was fired. He was that close.

Let me just preface what I’m going to say with a few things. I’m not American, nor am I a fan of Trump (or Biden for that matter). I always found Trump funny and entertaining, but I saw him as more of a TV character. I never felt like I could connect to him in any way because he comes across as very self obsessed and cold to me. He didn’t feel “real” for lack of a better term. However, I found myself actually getting emotional while watching this. This is the first time Trump ever felt like a real person to me. I can only imagine the rollercoaster of emotions he must be feeling. A deep fear of being out in public again, an undeniable sense of humility after narrowly avoiding death and then, to top it off an immense wave of gratitude from the tsunami of love being given to him by the crowd. That, combined with the music, the shots of his son teary eyed and his commitment to be in public, even when he’s clearly feeling fear, was immensely powerful. This was truly a cinematic moment in American History.

As a therapist for 15 years and suffering from PTSD myself, I see patients like Mr. Trump all the time and I can tell a lot by his body language, he is just being a strong human being. I am not into politics but this man has my respect and admiration... and now my vote!!! God bless this beautiful country 🇺🇸
