@hani lugtehul I can assure you I'm human. "Holding it down" is a saying we have in the black community. It simply means he's performing his task very well. Like me, Roy was raised in the northern part of Alabama, so he gets the compliment.

@@nickelpickel3924 I think the one, true litmus test in the end: Can host 'X' of the Daily Show sit in a congressional hearing, and make reps and senators fear for their political careers. Roy _might_ actually have that buried in him, Sarah obviously could, Chelsea would _think_ she does, but I dunno, and Leslie would probably be ejected in epic & spectacular fashion.
Roy just has that Daily Show magic that Jon and Trevor had as hosts and just like them brings a distinctly unique humor to it. I think we found our next host.
@hani lugtehul "Holding it down" is in reference of something you place on/near an object in order to keep that object in place. Such as the stakes you would plant into the ground in order to keep a tent from blowing away. You would expect it to have the ability to perform a certain task effortlessly and flawlessly. In this case, Roy is holding down TDS by maintaining (if not excelling) the comedic level that fans expect from the show's most recent predecessor (Trevor Noah).

I would love for Roy to be the permanent host, but I'm curious about the others. Jordan is the only one who seems to have a "normal person's character" while the others are all "extreme characters." Roy has a couple of different characters on the show, plus he hosts "Beyond the Scenes," so we have seen different sides of him. Still, everyone is funny and I'm looking forward to them all shining.

I love Roy Wood Jr as the host. He has smart comedy and his comparison as he tells the story is thought provoking and makes you laugh at the same time...#smartcomedy
Roy needs to be the new host. He’s hysterical, and while no one can take over Jon Stewart’s role 100%, he is the best candidate for the job. I have listened to the audience laughter, and there were some people genuinely screaming laughing the past two days.
Simply awesome - and I loved the much deserved Morris Chestnut shoutout. If you haven’t seen him in the surprisingly great *Terminator tv series* from like mid-2000s then You Should (you’d also see a future GoT queen! Plus Summer Glau!)
