I love Japan but if i had to address it as i currently understand it i would say this. -A work culture that while going above and beyond pushes some into a perpetual mindset that work is everything -Cultural/xenophobic shunning, i say this because i understand even going back generations there are people who live there who are mixed and what have you and despite being born and raised in that country are still looked down upon. But i get it America is a vastly different country there in regard to that. -Crazed otaku culture: When i say this i mean the likes of hikkimori who shut themselves off from reality, general escapism on the basis of what is disillusionment to some when it comes to the anime/manga industry and the vast grip it has on some outside of being an interest in a more negative way. That sorta thing is interesting but the worst aspects of it are very offputting to me. -Low birth rates: i don't think this one is nearly as bad as i've heard it to be but it's a legitimate concern when i imagine how far the Japanese have come in the last century, hopefully they'll carry on but who's to say.
