My mom was able to feed and clothe me because the people were nice enough to tip her. Server/waitress is the number one job single mothers have.

I like to tip in cash. And just pay in cash for as much as i can.

My husband, daughter, and I, with my husband's mom and step father, went out to lunch on Saturday. My in laws always under tip, and my husband always goes and leaves extra money on the table. Before we left, I gathered the silverware and plates and stacked them for the young girl who waited on us. Before we left she came up to me and thanked me. I told her that food is always amazing and the service is always excellent. They deserve the money.

In the 80's and back never paid taxes on tips.......... they started doing that somewhere in the 90's

the prob is the fact that we are taxed, then taxed on that, then taxed again, then taxed even more...and people are good with that 🤦🏽‍♂️

I don't mind tipping but it seems nowadays if you don't tip "big enough" you're considered a cheapskate. They want you to tip big. And I'm seeing tip jars everywhere, even when there is no service!

I tip extremely generously or wait to go...I've never worked for tips but just having friends who do, I would be highly embarrassed if I didn't tip well. The plus is when these businesses see me come in the door, I get over the top service!😊😊😊😊❤ ❤❤

As a person who worked in service I think this is a great thing. I was disappointed when I lived in Florida and worked in service and was taxed on my tips. I worked hard for that money.

What about when they have the lil tip thing on the card reader at self serve yogurt places....they did nothing but ring me up! I got my own cup, served my own yogurt, and added toppings. What? I'm to tip u for me doing ur job????? Wtf?? Oh wait they handed me a spoon...

The sad thing is in louisiana servers only make like 2.15 an hour so basically they make nothing without their tips.

State & I get taxed 8% of every check i put on a table..weird Saturday..I had 3 tables & 1 took the slip, & 2 were apparently broke & disnt tip..$330 check..I was taxed on 8% of that because they assumed I was tipped!! Also .they take the tips out of my check!! We are supposed to make $15+.. but they take our tips out of our check..i 😮work 90+ hours biweekly at least..im LUCKY to walk with $500..but our minimum wage is $16 an hour! I would actually be able to have health care & a retirement if I was NOT taxed on my tips! Thats what it would do! Its NOT ONLY FANS!

it is difficult to go out to eat. The last time I treated myself to breakfast out it cost $25. I can do it at home for a week for that. But, when I do go out I always tip, especially in the local places where the waitresses are seniors and have no choice but still work. Btw, you nailed why they want to get rid of cash as an option, no one gets can get paid under the table or receive unclaimed tips.

I also went to Applebees one time and the waitresses did not get any money except for tips. That doesn't sound legal to me.

How will this affect their SS income in the future? Many people don't get much SS because they had low paying jobs and jobs that tipping is expected are typically low pay and that little bit on tips can make a difference in their retirement years which are very hard for those with low SS income.

One time my middle sister who works for Disney went to eat at one of the restaurants she was a sous chef at. Well she didn’t know tip was included. So she tipped them basically a crazy amount extra, but because it was her co worker technically she wasn’t gonna ask for her tip back. She took it as lesson learned and just take the loss. It was at The California Grill inside The Contemporary at Disney Orlando FL. 💕❤️🫶🏻🐿️

Most workers that get tips still get paid minimum wage that they are still taxed on. Stop giving ssi to illegals and social security will be fine. Also a lot less people will apply for food stamps, Partial welfare,Heap, ssi, Sec 8 ect... because they are making it ok w/ no tax on tips.. It's a good thing! They will also be way more willing to work overtime or take a double creating even more tax as they still draw a paycheck that is taxed. It will balance out & Help the working poor. And as you said if the service is not good...Don't tip. I feel it's a win-win

The thing I felt was puzzling is u pay a server 20% based on the price of ur meal. If 1 server gets her tip from someone that orders a hamburger & another person orders a steak, appetizer, dessert their check will be much higher & the server gets 20% of the person ordering expensive food. Both servers r doing a great job but the server is making less in tips bc the order was less expensive & the other server is getting triple or more bc the bill is higher. My daughter worked at a sports bar & everyone put their tips in a large tip container at the end of the night they divided the tips amongst the servers. That seemed fair but some server’s weren’t as ambitious or proactive knowing they didn’t have to work as hard but still getting their cut of the tips. Tipping can be confusing especially when there r tip jars everywhere.

We all know that the service worker are automatically taxed by the fed when they go have their taxes done .... If the workers did not always receive a tip at the right proportion or even if not at all, that is on them..they are taxed anyway, just as if they did receive it. 😢😢😢

Tips should be considered a reward for good extra service and not related to base pay.

I have a problem with tipping when the restaurant expects you to tip anywhere from 18 to 25 % and put the amounts you should leave on the bottom of your bill . Since covid is pretty much over isn't it about time to drop tipping back down to 10 or 15 % ? I've also noticed that since they raised prices a lot of set down places don't even refill my beverage .

It's definitely not fair for restaurant owners getting by paying 4 or 5 dollars then are suppose to make up the rest for their pay. That is not fair. I feel the owner should pay the going wage and what that waitress was tipped should be hers. However if you ask ok and don't agree like the employees say if we don't make enough tips then they fire us. Not One Bit Fair. Here's the topper they have family working there to will if the family clears the table before the waitress does then she has to give like 30% to the owners family. The family will hawk you and as soon as they can they will come by and pick up like the salad plate so now you have to share. This is Diffently NOT FAIR. IDrive delivery for a pizza company and when I'm not on the road I get paid in store hours but when I'm on the road I get paid less than half of in-store hours. And it is really aggravating when someone has a 50, 70, $80 order and does not tip at all. And I am actually very friendly very kind very helpful I'm polite. Just because I was raised to treat others as I'd like to be treated but it's still really annoying and aggravating when people don't want to tip. I tip literally Everywhere I Go. The other day I tipped the kid outside of the grocery store at the garden department because I bought a tomato plant. The kid was really surprised he got a tip but I wanted him to get a tip because that's how I feel is that I like to tip

We had new windows installed recently and bought the both of them lunch, they requested pizza. We also gave them each $20.00 to grab a beer or snack on the way home. Like you, you do a good job, especially for a service, you tip.

What is frustrating is the pizza delivery charge that is NOT given to the delivery person !

Just think when digital money comes in yes in Arkansas most waitresses just get two dollars and something in earnings. You have to tip if they’re gonna keep their job, they can’t make it no other way.

I feel if you can’t afford to tip then you can’t afford to go out. I do agree the corporations should pay more. Other counties do think tipping is taboo. Also I am not tipping for someone handing me my drink or ice cream cone, unless they were super friendly/helpful. I shouldn’t feel obligated every where I go to tip at hourly paid employees. My stepmom said Best Buy wanted a tip for an online order. They did nothing to help her shop or set up her computer. I usually try to tip 20 percent, unless it was horrible it’ll get 10 percent, and if excellent 25-30 percent. I have never worked a job with tips, my husband has. 💕❤️🫶🏻🐿️

I was a waitress 20 years ago, we got paid $2.00 a hour plus tips! If a cook messed up the order or was slow, guess who didn’t get tipped, plus back then in our poor rural area people didn’t tip much No matter how good you where, I totally believe it’s the restaurant owner’s responsibility to pay their workers.

I like to leave cash tips especially when they did a great job for you, taking 20 percent automatically is definitely not the way to go,like you said once she explained about tipping and took your order, you never saw her again.... No way with automatic tipping.
