Biden was not my preferred candidate, but I don't think Bernie or Warren could have dealt with Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema the way Biden did. If the Democrats had enough senators and representatives to pass whatever they wanted I think a more progressive candidate would have been better, but things were so damn close that no one but Joe Biden, with his focus on compromise, could have gotten the legislation that he got.
Biden most likely got a much smaller bill because he didn't press his advantage after taking office. If he'd came out the gate and pushed for passage of BBB without that bipartisan sideshow with Sinema and before Manchin gets in touch with the "No Labels," we'd be having a totally different re-election conversation right now. Instead, we get a watered down bill and we see the elimination of the child tax credit. Could Bernie or Warren have done better, no but Biden could have certainly done better if he wasn't a man who is stuck in the 90s.
If more people paid attention to the downballot, one person would not have so much political power. Clinton had a Republican Congress. Most of the policies we blame on him are just Contract On America (pre Bush popularizing the term, but still a Republican total platform of privatization and smaller government…) He could barely get any progressive plan passed, and many that had been, got eliminated or rolled back. And that’s why Trump did a lot of damage by abusing Executive Order policy. Bills originate with the Legislative Branch, not generally, not, by Constitutional design- the Executive Branch.)

I spent several years in my 20s working as an audio engineer, and I automatically cringed when they said the debate wouldn’t have an audience. When a person is recorded speaking in a noisy environment, they have to raise their voice to hear themselves. It’s instinctual. Over a microphone, it produces the kind of voice we associate with lofty rhetoric, because our references are largely comprised of speeches delivered in crowded spaces. This is why he was immediately better in the footage from the after party, and the rally (although a teleprompter helped with the latter).
Hey, I’d love having Bernie as president even though he’s old. Not everyone ages the same and at the same rate. But Bernie is the only exception I’ve seen, other than Pelosi as speaker. I know that a Progressive likely isn’t gonna fair as well, but I’d be happy with a more moderate Dem that at least has a moral policy on Gaza. I’ll vote Blue regardless, but boy will I *resent* having any president who keeps furthering the genocide.

Who's do you think was going to replace him? Unless you put Harris at the top of the ticket you couldn't use the money that's been raised so your dream candidate is out. Also no one in the party that's serious wanted to primary him because the party and the majority of the voters believe Biden is the only one who can beat trump. So you can set there and say that all day long but Biden is going no where so vote for him or help elect trump and maybe if we get lucky enough that this wacko Supreme Court shoots down protect 2024 and 25 we can have another election but I wouldn't bank on it.

The time to talk about Joe's pride was back during the primaries. Everyone was behind him then, let's stay behind him now. It's not about "p'wning" anybody. It's about preventing the GOP and their far right allies from overrunning our government. For the record, I am not a Democrat. I've voted Republican most of my life. I abstained in 2016 because, while I couldn't bring myself to support HRC, DJT was a bridge too far. I thought she would win, I didn't like it necessarily but was willing to accept it. First time I ever voted (D) was for Biden in 2020. I don't like him much either, but I respect him. He had a bad night, I can forgive it. He's not the only one who needs to speak out against this evil GOP, but everyone is putting the entire burden on him.
In the past few days I've been swung back and forth by intelligent people on this issue, after listening to the golf nonsense I'm done with Biden. He has been a good President, but if he had checked his ego, and pushed a new President in, he would have been a hero. Now he is a joke.
