Vance's conversion to Trump corresponded with his conversion to Faith and there are a lot of voters in the Rust belt that did not vote for Trump in the past but will now take a second look, just like JD Vance did. Trump understands the symbolism and is betting on Vance's likability and folksiness to get some voters to convert to Trump.
