Hard agree. Within the context of alllllllllll the other times he said he wanted to get extra terms, just stay in office, and JANUARY SIXTH. He’s lying to the crowd, but they’re in on it. They know.
Trump talking about China's president Xi Jinping: "He's now president for life. President for life. No, he's great," Trump said. "And look, he was able to do that. I think it's great. Maybe we'll have to give that a shot someday."
Let's not dismiss Trump's words, ANY of them. I'll take him exactly at his word, "you'll never have to vote again." If Trump intended regular elections, then his Christian supporters certainly WOULD need to vote, every four years. No elections = no democracy.
Trump talking about China's president Xi Jinping: "He's now president for life. President for life. No, he's great," Trump said. "And look, he was able to do that. I think it's great. Maybe we'll have to give that a shot someday."
@@PastryFan3016 he says, with a touch of envy, that xi jinping rules his people with an iron fist. this means that they are under his absolute control. how do 'rump's followers not see that as a prediction of what HE would do to THEM if he were president for life? they want to attack our government and hand this country over to something far worse.
It Trump can't speak in a way that everyone can understand he shouldn't be President. The fact that people can't agree on the meaning of this statement is enough to disqualify him by itself. Although he's absolutely telling his base he will end elections and stay in office for life. He knows that's what they want...
I actually can't stand Donald Trump but when I heard him say it the first time I thought he was telling the Christians that he's only begging for their vote this one time he'll get in he'll fix a bunch of stuff they think are problems and then he won't be running again in the next election so there won't be a need for them to come out and vote for him again I think he was trying to let the world know that he didn't intend to stay in power but he's such a moron he can't even do that right 🤷♂️
He also said he’s not a Christian. When someone shows you who they are… that totally sounds like a threat to democracy. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-P5S1IU_NOYo.htmlsi=QDFDzx-ktfUuaPc2
It's a willful disinformation apparatus. Corporate media gets richer from distributing Trump's pathological BS. It's a money game for them, nothing more.
It's the epitome of Kafkaesque but don't forget....7 years after the 9/11 attacks, this country elected a black man with the name Barack Hussein Obama. TWICE!
@@jabbermocky4520 that is an inference you are drawing from it - but yeah I think it is a very reasonable one. I had not first considered that but yeah I can definitely draw that conclusion . And not only would he be immune from any criminal behavior - it could not even be investigated - think about that one for a while .
People making excuses for trump got us here. Continuing to make excuses by explaining his insanity with oh thats just trump. Everything he says is horrific. Hold him to his words.
He won't be - the historical allies are terrified of this guy - they know he is insane / dangerous - no way he would be capable of coalescing leaders of USA historical allies . Notice how he tries to pal up with Putin, Kim, Ertogan , and their ultimate boyfriend Victor Orban, he speaks glowingly of Xi . So if Trump wins - USA is not leader of the free world because USA will no longer in the free world.
If Trump is elected, he would NOT be the leader of the Free World. The Free World decides who their leader is, not Americans. He wasn't the leader of the Free World when he was president. He was mocked, despised, humoured like a recalcitrant child or ignored. The EU, via the German Chancellor, stepped into that role from 2016 - 2020.
This needs to be top news on every channel. I don't understand how anyone can downplay this. That man is mentally ill and the fact that he is allowed to continue to run for president and ruin this country is appalling. I've had enough.
Part of me feels sad for some of them Trump has taken away already so much from them and keeps taking more. Wonder how they will feel after they realize that they’ve been had. However that cannot come in the way of the country, it will be for them too.
@@Stylishgirlny Right you are Stylish, they are not holding any other cards. They could admit that they've been conned, but gamblers won't they won't either.
Indeed. But softening the message is what Republicans do when they seek to pass off serious threats as mere "political hyperbole". Mr. Saletan is one of those Republicans.
that is exactly what Trump meant , but that was not the intent of Will's message . He knows that all too well - Remember Trump is more than anything he is a performer - he plays a character - he learned to do it playing wrestling characters and then the apprentice - those are characters - and when he says those things - they are done for a reason - he is a bully and he wants to scare people. Which is what he was doing there . I am pretty confident what Will was trying to do was to warn people - don't fall for that trap - because he recognizes that he is doing that with the of distracting attention . What he was attempting to convey was to pay attention to the little subtle things that Trump is saying - which are very specific descriptions of the dramatic changes in store for life in America if there were to be a Trump 2.0. I don't think he did a very good job of it considering the comments but i believe I understand what he means. In fact they are both very clear and present threats if you are an American citizen - the message is clear - vote like your life and the life of those you love depends on it because it most certainly does.
I couldn't disagree with you more. He's *ABSOLUTELY* sending dog whistles to his more violent, well-armed supporters to rile them up in preparation for a second J6. *_WHY_* would you ever brush this way and give him a pass?!
Will's not trying to give Trump a "pass." He's simply saying that Trump has said plenty of OTHER things to cause concern over his authoritarian leanings without taking what he says out of context. If you listen to what Trump said BEFORE this snippet (which everyone is conveniently taking out of context), it becomes clearer that he's NOT talking about taking away the right to vote.
Im amazed how ANYONE can vote for this man..he is dangerous for REAL..yes he saying a LOT of things but if he only do HALF of what he saying,it would be a disaster!.terrible, wrong, criminal
The crazy thing is - he is VERY dangerous to the republicans that follow him - I am positive they do not think that but history is replete with examples just like this . I hate to seriously contemplate it but a Trump 2.0 presidency would be other world for people who have grown up under the system that we have .
I disagree with your assessment of his saying that they would never have to vote again if he wins. IMO, it’s clear. Also, most people have surmised that he will never be held accountable for any of his crimes if he slithers into our WH.
I don't think anybody can afford to not take Trump at his word on this. He has a habit of turning dumb things he has said in passing, into insane policy. He also has the backing of the Heritage Foundation and Project 2025 for doing just what he said here. Take him seriously. Both bad things can be - and probably are - on his agenda.
I feel certain the crooked swing state MAGA folks have big solid plans to take the presidency despite an overwhelming loss. Venezuela’s present will soon be ours…no HF…it will not be bloodless.
Couldn’t disagree with you more, Will. Sorry, but I don’t think you or any pundit should speak with any authority on what Trump “meant” when he says anything. Are we to learn nothing? I fully intend to believe everything he says and do all I can to get Kamala elected. We have seen nothing but our “laws and institutions” fail in the face of this sociopath. So, thank you very much, but I intend to listen when he speaks and believe him.
It''d be different if he hadn't been bandying around the idea of Pres. for life for years, but he has been, like when he said we should think about doing that like China with Xi Jinping to Fox. He also said he wouldn't accept the results of the election in 2020 unless he won before the election and he was serious, deadly serious. Between the Heritage Foundation, Seven Mountains Mandate, Ziklag, several other fringe groups, and Russia all staking their desire to see him re-elected, the SCOTUS decision, I absolutely agree we can't afford to take anything he says lightly.
This guy seems to have forgotten the recording of "find me 11,780 votes." Of course he means it when he says the elections will be fixed and they won't have to vote!
Will is absolutely RIGHT. He's not saying Trump is anti-democratic. He's simply saying -- I believe correctly -- that this particular statement didn't mean what everyone is reflexively assuming it means. Don't listen to just the snippet taken out of context. Listen to the words he said before it, and it will become clearer what he ACTUALLY meant.
I watched in horror and disbelief as Trump was elected in November of 2016. When I finally recovered from that shock, I posted on social media for the very first time in January of 2017, and I only did so in a desperate clinical effort to educate and warn the American public about Trump's psychopathology (specifically, the comorbidity of his Malignant Narcissistic Personality Disorder and Anti-Social Personality Disorder). Many of the inevitable dangers and disturbing scenarios of which I had then warned have already come to pass; the few that had yet to occur are now expressly outlined in Project 2025, and in his own current admissions. Whilst it has seemingly taken close to seven years to get the American public's attention, I am glad that some media outlets and more citizens have finally awakened to the reality and innate dangers of Trump, which will only be exacerbated by his glaringly-obvious, age-related cognitive decline. Moreover, clinically speaking, the public should be made aware that: [1] Malignant Narcissists and Psychopaths cannot be treated, reformed, restrained or otherwise 'cured, and they only get worse and more dangerous with time and age; [2] They never 'give up' or 'go quietly'; [3] In the face of the kind of narcissistic injury that an election lost / electoral rejection would constitute, someone with Trumps' psychopathology would rather burn the country to the ground than accept defeat; [5] So, as a country, you need to be cognizant of and well-prepared for what will happened next, even if (especially if) he looses the 2024 election. Do not allow yourselves to suffer from a failure of imagination this time when it comes to what Trump, his acolytes and his co-conspirators will be willing to do!
You're 💯% correct. NO ONE should be in denial about who and what will unfold when Trump and those behind the curtain will do and have already planned on doing WHEN HE IS REJECTED BY THE MAJORITY OF Americans a second time. And he will be rejected. Get ready. We need to be.
@@stephaniesoth2647 I posted all this originally (and many times since), and have again now, because I know from experience that the only way to immunize the public against such a person is to IDENTIFY, EXPOSE AND EXPLAIN the inherent dangers they represent, and I earnestly applaud Mr. Conway for doing what much of Media has refused to do thus far (report the medical facts). It's up to America's citizens to prepare, push back, and reject... not just Trump, but those who would elevate him; I know you can do it, and I am in your corner!
I strongly disagree with Will's intepretation of what he believes Trump meant. I believe, as do millions of other people, that Trump truly meant there would be no more elections anymore if he becomes President. Trump has long made all kinds of statements like this and admires dictators like Putin, etc. Bulwark team, its shocking you guys are defending Trump's clear messaging on this.
If I were ever to bow down for a dictator, I'd need someone with a lot more class than Donald Trump. He is so, so low rent. I'd need at least a Marcus Aurelius.
totally agree - I am not saying I would never surrender to a dictator - but not a reality TV show tough guy who wears makeup and thinks he's John Gotti - I just can't to that
I'm sorry, but I fundamentally disagree that his recent statements about not needing to vote anymore if he gets in power _is not_ a threat to democracy. It absolutely is. Bad take...
Yes, his " you won't have to vote" DOES show his determination to destroy Democracy. And he HAS to destroy Democracy, personally to stay out of jail. By the way, he intends to get his people in place in the military and then use the military against Americans if needed to hold on to power.
I found this quote was the most revealing. He is admitting the Bible sales, etc., is just a fraud. Of course we already knew that, but he just said it.
I think too many of us forget that the word “fix” has a multitude of meanings. My interpretation of what he said is “to make permanent “. Vote BLUE 💙💙💙💙💙💙
The speaker said all of Trump's other statements were true and pointed out what he planned. Why is this one, which seems very clear to me, not also true?
@@BeckyC-mr7co January 6th. I suspect you’re a bot but, don’t care. because it is a regular theme of his rallies that he wants to stay in power and will subvert the will of the people.. That would be a threat to elections and voting by definition.
So right and he's been bandying it around for years. Trump talking about China's president Xi Jinping: "He's now president for life. President for life. No, he's great," Trump said. "And look, he was able to do that. I think it's great. Maybe we'll have to give that a shot someday.". This idea wasn't new or undesirable to him. It's just that it's becoming overtly displayed and becoming more of an assertion instead of bandying.
Trump clearly said you will not have to vote anymore if you vote me into office now. It was a clear statement announcing the end of elections. Don't ever down play what Trump says.
Totally. Interpretations can be 180 degrees off the mark and completely WRONG. Don't fall for the bogus theory that Trump never really means what he says.
It IS ABSOLUTELY a Threat. It is the Title to the book of Threats. Stop contorting yourself to differentiate your line from other RU-vidrs: If no one heard anything else from trump, they need to hear this.

Ur wrong, if he gets in the whitehouse, trump will never leave😡👊! Ur wrong!
Will's argument here that Trump said worst things in this speech because they have legal implications is not really going to convince anyone who listens to the clip as is. The crowd stopped clapping. Even they knew it was wrong.
Please don’t gaslight me. We know what he meant based on his past behavior. No need to pretzel twist it into a more benign meaning. It’s infuriating to have our intelligence insulted in that way.
I think the thing people are not hearing is when he said, “I don’t need your votes, I have enough votes!” Meaning, I’ve found a way to win even if I don’t win, I win! ALARMS! ALARMS!
Sometimes it's just what it sounds like. The idea that Trump is talking about America is taking what he is actually saying and running it through a generous interpreter. The problem with that is that Trump has never shied away from actually saying America, our country, or something similar in those kinds of proclamations. The only "it" in his sentence is "voting," and for every alternate interpretation, there are other Trump lines to refute them. "Maybe Trump is just talking self-interestedly, this is the only vote he cares about because it's the last term he can be president." Well, he's talked about having a 3rd term (and beyond.) "He's talking about fixing America, not the vote." Well, he just said that the only way Democrats win in Minnesota is if they cheat (aka, "fix" the vote.) The idea of that he is saying there won't be elections is the overreach that the media is doing. "You won't have to vote" does not mean "You won't be able to vote." But we've just seen in Venezuela how a dictator in power can create a scenario where his supporters don't "have to vote." Absent any other context, Trump's line is open to interpretation. Taken in the totality of the body of his work, it means exactly what it sounds like. If his people vote him in, he will use power to "fix" the system and they won't have to vote again.
You're putting words in his mouth to try to make his statements make sense. He has not demonstrated any desire or obligation to say things that are technically correct or truthful to any degree. I would not rely on anything specific that he says. I agree with you on two points. 1. Trump frequently creates news-media-juicy distractions when he does not want media outlets to focus on something else less sensationalized. 2. He says things in ambiguous and confusing ways that listeners think they're hearing what they want to hear. It sounds.less like a lie or manipulation when it is said ambiguously and often.
Thanks for watching all of this awful garbage & keeping us informed, Will. It makes me even more determined to do everything I can to make sure Harris wins in Nov. Not going back!
Nope he meant what he said after that they put out a meme that said trump 2024, 28, 32, 36 etc etc and the last sign was trump 4eva so you guys can believe what you want but he said what he said
Yup. And he'll still be claiming it even after Canon is overturned on appeal. He'll be saying "I won that case, but the crooked Biden DOJ (or Harris DOJ) overruled the best judge we've ever had blah blah blah"
The US legal system has failed all year long to make him accountable because of a corrupt judge he appointed, corrupt Supreme Court Justices he appointed giving him absolute immunity, and a weak Attorney General that was so afraid of 'looking partisan' that he refused to even bring Trump's Capitol attack up on charges for over a year. Canada lets serial child rpists out on parole after they have killed 10 kids, so don't pretend Canada could do any better. (I'm Canadian, lived in the US a long time 👋🏼🇨🇦 )
I’m so sick of Donald Trump plainly stating that he’s going to destroy our democracy and then comes the parade of people to tell us that’s not what he actually meant. I think I prefer going with the presidential candidate where I DON’T have to try to decipher and figure out if they’re saying they’re going to dismantle democracy. I’ll go with the one who just straight up says they will uphold and strengthen it.
all this needs to be aired vigorously and at every MAGA rally and on Fox News and Epoch news And Telegraph and fact checked multiple times by mainstream media and in any debate ahead
Why in the world would you think that Trump would not cheat? He doesn't discern between the right way and the wrong way to do things, only if it gets him what he wants.
Why does the rest of the country sit by and let this happen. He should not be allowed to say this to his supporters. Stop him in his speeches. Physically remove him If he is allowed to go on like this we are letting him do this. STOP TRUMP NOW
So a person convicted of 34 felonies and released on their own recognizance get to make threats towards others? Why couldn’t Charlie Manson, OJ Simpson or Ted Bundy have pleaded for use of this ploy?
No, he actually said he would fix "it" without defining what "it" was. Will he fix the election so good they won't have to vote or will he fix the country's problems so good they won't have to vote? The question remains very much open and considering his past statements, we MUST assume the worst as to meaning
