@@MelbourneMeMe Nothing, thats why they won't make a video about him. he is the run of the mill corporate dem who won't get anything done and probably make everything worse
I don't honestly want to know everything. Most of them are probably just standard promises as always. I just want a dissecting of which policies Biden does adopt from the "far left" democrats like Sander and Warren, and what he has left out.
Absolutely cover it. It's part of being a fair and impartial news source. 92 pages isn't unmanageable. I distinctly recall you doing a vid on Labour's manifesto last year and that was 105 p. long.
To be fair the DNC platform is much longer (42000 words vs 25000, give or take) and contains no bullet points anywhere. Combing through for concrete policies isn't something I'd be excited to do, although that applies to manifestos in general.
I agree with a lot of other comments. I realize the effort of making a video on a very summarized version of the democratic policy plan would be huge for probably less reward than it deserves, but it is also important for people getting information from your channel to have similar information on both platforms. Maybe you could restrict the videotoo: 1 main points 2 similarities and differences from the Republican plan 3 main positive aspects and critiques. Or whatever format you find best. You guys know what you are doing and I appreciate the videos.
The Dem have a throgouthly political platform, that nobody cares reading. The Rep have no political platform, but a shortlist of 80 points which people remember maybe 4 or 5 of them.
I would definitely not be opposed to a rundown of the DNC platform. I think it would be an interesting thing to hear about and be better informed about
Raise taxes on everybody. Green new Deal. Open Borders. Close down all Prisons. Take away guns and destroy the 2nd Amendments. Add 4 more Supreme Court Justices. Add D.C., Puerto Rico, Guam as States. Restart trade with China. Free college for everyone. Only public schools for children. Free Healthcare for EVERYONE. Take away free speech.
Why? The point is to get basic platform goals out in a easily digestible and sharable way right? Thats the goal of effective communication right? I'd argue that this 50 point outline does an exceedingly better job of explaining the goals of the campaign than Bidens dense 92 page manifesto written by policy wonks and made so that the average person isn't likely to see them or follow them.
@@Ameriguy99 The thing is, they're running for a country, not your local highschool. They should have both. (I'd say, 92 pages is too long too, but skimming the key propositions of a manifesto is often very interesting to get where they're coming from.) The issue with a 50 points outline is that, since the means are always out of scope, they can write anything in there. I can write you an outline right now that says that i can bring back 20 million jobs from china, fix the healthcare system and end corona virus. But that means nothing without a proper description of how i'd go about it.
I disagree. I think there should be no term limits in any office including the presidency. In a functioning democracy, the people will pick the best candidate. Currently with gerrymandering a voter suppression that would not work. But in a functioning (keyword functioning) democracy term limits may force out good candidates. FDR, for example, one of if the greatest US presidents won 3 terms. If Obama was allowed to run for another term he would have beaten Trump in 2016 and we would not have Trump now. I have a lot of problems with Obama but he's an order of magnitude better than trump and he would have won. I believe term limits in a functioning democracy are inherently undemocratic.
@@Inazarab democracy needs checks on power, having no term limit could also allow trump to rule for the rest of his life, and how long until it goes from Republic to monarchy?
@@frenchguitarguy1091 That's why I say in a functioning democracy. As it is now with gerrymandering and voter suppression term limits may be necessary. But if every citizen of voting age cast their ballot and every ballot counted equally (popular vote) then a president should be able to stay in power as long as the people want him there. Think where we would be if FDR couldn't run for a third term. WWII may have turned out very differently. If Obama was allowed to run for a third term and beaten Trump think where our country would be. A democracy is based on the idea that citizens chose their leaders, it is inherently undemocratic to take away that right from the citizens. The people should be able to decide their leader.
@a 2345193 neither is better, neither is good, no exceptionalism and propaganda should ever be taught. What you argue is false, since the alternative to American exceptionalism is *not* communist chinese exceptionalism; the world is not black and white.
Yeah let's spit on the country's future and tell kids that everything was bad so that in 20 years they take down the remaining statues of the founding fathers and create new independent countries inside the republic great idea !
@@user-jy5qm8nc9m You need to acknowledge your country's problems if you want to resolve them. If you really want to stop the protests, instead of denying the existence of structural racism, attempt to fix it.
@@user-jy5qm8nc9m Not telling everyone that America is perfect and has always been perfect and that everything it does is and will always be perfect and better than everyone else =/= Telling everyone that everything is awful and will always be awful and has always been awful and that they should tear everything down. There's a middle ground in there, called realism, maybe you should look into it.
cover it! u have valid reasons not to cover it, but since u made this video u have to make the same for the dems with the same tone. i am a democrat, and the worst thing we can do is look down at others plans and not read ours.
i love how he said "the healthcare proposals go against what he said and are similar to Obamacare" while providing no comparison or argument to support that
Why? He pulled out of the democrat wars and has had a real success against terrorist. Terrorism is not fought with armoured divisions. Spain and Germany didn't defeat ETA or the Red Army Faction with soldiers, but with police and finances.
@@marneus It actually Obama's. Do you really forget his operation that killed Bin Laden? And his intervention with Syria civil war that stopped ISIS from being out of control? On the other hand, what Trump really did? Killed an Iranian general and made the whole Iran hates US for no good reason? Yeah he did such a great job compares to Obama👏.
Yeah there aren’t a lot of us. The guys in this channel are pretty biased and the viewers seem to be under the halo effect. But hey, if you want to see some of the new incoming Republican Party members you can see them in Tim Pool’s channel. They’re normal people dude, trust me it’s pretty good what you hear from them.
Honestly, some of these promises don't sound that bad. The inherent issue is that the head of the party is not only untrustworthy, but changes his mind on a whim in a matter of moments. I'm not an American voter, nor would I say I'm inherently on one side or the other, however I would probably feel better with literally anyone else as president in the republican party over Trump.
I'm a reluctant Trump voter for similar reasons. I support nearly all of his policies and and agendas....i just wish it was being advocated for and pushed by a more eloquent and less narcissistic representative.
@@Ameriguy99 With you there. I didn't even vote for Trump in 2016 instead casting a vote for Johnson. I didn't like Trump's style and had little reason to trust him, but as President he's done more things I like than dislike and I absolutely abhor his opponents so I'll be casting a vote for him this November. While he does have a handful of core issues he cares about such as on trade he is much more a political chameleon on everything else. I don't think he has a hard stance on matters like abortion, judges, education, foreign policy and host of other issues, but has come down on the side of Republicans on these issues because he's made bed with them. Trump's real beliefs seem to be informed more by life experience than any ideological leanings. He takes an adversarial approach to trade and foreign policy because he is an adversarial guy. He doesn't seem to like regulations because he's a business owner. On other issues I think he's mostly does what he needs just to get elected and his base are Republicans so it's necessary for him to keep them happy. With it all said and done though he's done more things I like than dislike. I don't care if Trump genuinely believes we need Conservative Judges, or less regulations. So long as he delivers those things he can be as brash and uncouth as he likes. Although his enemies have done far more to make me enthusiastic for the President than the President himself. At some point you get sick of the lies and double standards. I'm seeing a really disconcerting anti-American sentiment from the left as well. Between a guy who shows a ridiculous amount of love for this country and a party that seems to disdain it. I think I'll pick the guy who loves it.
Which speaks to the intended audience. The big document isn't really for the average voter, it is intended for candidates and policy makers. A document like this on the other hand is intended for consumers. Big on vague feel good promises, but lacking any actual policy, which is why so much of it can be contradictory. Put another way, the document is accessible because it is empty marketing..
neeneko you can compare it to the conservative manifesto last winter. The goal is to reach as many people as possible and show a message that is simple and agreeable. Plus if you want to look deeper a lot of the big policy items such as school choice and opportunity zones are defined in other documents. And they won in an unprecedented landslide
Maybe they are working on it. It is a lot to cover. The RNC (because it is basically nothing) was easier to get out. Maybe they are working on the DNC version but because there is more to cover it will take longer for them to cover.
There is a difference between just reading a 92 page document and reading it, summarizing it, cross-checking it and processing it into a presentation, though.
I just had a lightbulb moment! I just realized that the only reason Trump doesn’t Affordable Care Act is because it’s called Obamacare. If the name is changed to Trumpcare,he will have no issues with it.
It would be interesting if someone could turn the 92 pages into a summarized bullet-point presentation. *chuckles* It would probably be more than 2 pages long though.
I really like the mood of this video. On point but not toooo dry and serious (it's easier to listen to and to endure stupid talking points). It might just be me and my kind of humour but you made me smile more than once after a long day of work while watching a serious video about Trump. Quite a feat I'd say 😊 Edit: the same goes for the newer Biden video btw 👍🏼
I have major respect for TL;DR News US's impartiality in this video. With all the partisan divisions in this year's election it's good to have someone just state the facts.
This is the thing though, Trumps first term agenda had a lot that he did not do or he went back on his word on. As of right now aAmerica is in a worse state than what it was before Trump.
That point about "drain the globalist swamp by taking on international organizations" is perhaps more interesting than you've suggested. Are we going to see big US-based businesses like Apple, Amazon and Google being taken down a peg or two?
You prob should, there's too many people who 'can't bear to think' and follow instead. Hell I don't even know what exactly you're talking about because you couldn't even think of adding any context.
@@NoLifeGamer1080 The context is pretty clear if you look at the title of the video and then my comment. It seems at least 16 other people understood what I was saying. And just because I can't bear to think about it doesn't mean I am not actually paying attention. I was hyperbolizing. Don't take everything so literally, pay attention to context and tone.
@@Inazarab Ok let's break it down and do some real thinking. *Context:* Trump's Pledges & the GOP's Platform *Your comment:* "I can't bear to even think about this." There is no tone, this is text. *Possible Conclusion:* 1. You're too emotionally unstable to handle any form of critical thinking regarding Trump's campaign promises. 2. You're too lazy/stupid to think for yourself and need someone else to tell you what to think. 3. You're not old enough to vote but want to act 'mature' and are trying to comment on something you know less than nothing about. As for the number of likes you got, one of them can be yours and another is likely the other guy who commented on it this. You have a solid 14 likes from people who, based on what i listed above, fall into 1 of the 3 possible conclusions.
It would be really cool if you did a video for the Democrats. I am actually curious about their 2020 policies, and I want more information about healthcare.
I'd like to see the Biden video. It would make it easier to compare the two candidates leading up to the election. After all, policy is one of the most important issues in a candidate
As good an ideal as congressional term limits is it’ll never happen. Constitutional amendments require a 2/3 approval by both house and senate. Your asking these people to put the country’s wellbeing over their own which they clearly have no intention of doing
That’s great!! Life changes daily yet that guy in the White House has no 2021 plan and is using 2016 plan. Now that’s what I call Progress for the future.
I love it when kids who aren't even old enough to vote try talking politics. Not because "omg they're learning things and are so mature and it's important and blablabla" but because they unintentionally show how little they know about the world while doing it.
As you are not an American I I can understand how you made this mistake, but social security tax and payroll tax are two separate things Yes they come out at the same time from our payroll but they are two separate line items in our pay stubs
Hello, I am from Belgium and I believe our politics are very different from American politics, could u possibly make a video explaining the basics of the american system?
He wants to end the endless wars? but his starting a war now because of his uncontrolled behavior. But let's see if he still wins and do all of that. That's quite a lot in the bag.
Please do the biden video. We know it's a lot of work but that could be really helpful. Especially when you could do a side by side comparison showing how the Trump campaign doesn't appear to have any actual plan compared to the Biden campaign.
Great video. Good to hear there are at least a couple good points in this even if the whole document will just be ignored instantly. I'd love to see the Democrat one even if it'll take ages to make - sorry guys haha I also wonder if the GOP not making a manifesto (as we Brits would say) will catch on. I mean why make one if you don't need to
Didn't the US run into this issue last time where nobody wanted to review the democratic nominee because they could get away with making shorter videos on Trump? We knew next to nothing about Hillary in comparison to all the nonsense spouted by Trump. I don't want to ruin the writer's lived, but impartial news is important in this day and age.
Cover Biden's platform PLEASE. Break it up into topics and areas and do it over several videos. This way you will give a deeper understanding of the material. It is too long for you to skim through it. It is too long for you to do a one shot effort as well. I appreciated your even keel and fair although humorous presentation of the facts. Thank you for this video mini-documentary.
Had about two considering the dems took the house in 2018 and beofre the McConnell ensure Trump got nothing done. Not excusing the action of the GOP blocking Trumps agenda for two years but he didn't have much backing
Yea would like a similar piece on the DNC platform. GOP policies are short bullet point clips with no plans. The Dem’s policy document is 92 pages because they have a plan. Don’t be scared to make a longer video if need be.
Guys, you are ramping over one important thing when it comes to space. What they are looking for with a permanent presence in the Moon is a huge thing in terms of geopolitics and economy. The first country that manages to stablish a colony in the Moon will control and define how space mining will be done in the future. It is in space mining where the big money of the future is. By now there are several registered companies with the purpose of exploiting mineral extraction in the space. If you are conscious of this, then you'll understand why Musk and Bezos are moving and investing into space related adventures. This is huge.
Please do a break down of DNC policy platform. You would look to be bias if you did not. Last year you covered all parties manifestos for the UK General Election, and at least in America you only have to main parties
No... the Trump campaign is suggesting new efforts in water and air quality initiatives and wants to partner with other nations to clean the oceans of decades of plastics trash and debries
I don't want to ruin the writers lives....don't bother w/ a Biden video. How the hell do people not already know Biden's platform? Do everything that Wall St. wants.
