NEGATIVE - The government would lose a key source of tax revenue. Since overtime is common in many sectors, removing taxes on it could reduce funding for programs and infrastructure unless offset by other taxes. IMPACT TO COMPANIES - Companies may feel pressured to offer more overtime as employees try to benefit from the tax exemption. This could raise labor costs, especially if higher overtime wages are needed to meet the increased demand. Not ideal although it sounds admirable, short and long-term impact to workers economy and employers problematic.

I work in the chemical industry and our facility may be somewhat of an outlier but we work a considerable amount of ot and even though we have some salary positions they still are paid ot..... I'm all for not tax on the ot but I feel we pay to much tax as it is. Our government (both parties) dont have a money problem but instead the have a major spending problem and if anyone thinks that one party will fix this mess they are sadly mistaken and being taken for fools by the government. I am 43 and have never based my retirement on getting social or anything else the government has said would be there to "help" in retirement especially since they won't keep their hands out of social security. I personally wish they would end 95% of all "government" funded (actually tax payer funded) programs or subsides to businesses and individuals. I feel that a good bit of people receiving money such as welfare/ food stamps should have a time limit to find work unless there are extenuating conditions but even then people should be pushed to work instead of living generational on hand outs.... Tax money should be used for infrastructure, education and very few other things.

You gotta look out for the trickery " no taxes on overtime" doesn't mean you wont be taxed when filing your taxes. Get hit now or later could be the option. Tell him to tell you exactly wht tht means. We stay listen to political moves/reading more into a statement made. Selling dreams still exist.

Overtime should be taxed since it's income. Taxes can make your life better if you have a competent government and not trump who will give the money to the rich and the money will taken out of the economy. Paying taxes to give it ti the rich isn't the way. But taxes are making it possible to have good roads, good education. To have good public transport> I know cause I live in Holland and we are one of the happiest people in the world Scandinavian people pay lots of taxes and they are the happiest people in the world with great educatio. better healthcare for everyone. Shorter working weeks more vacation. More time for themselves. that's what paying taxes can do. I will never understand why americans don't understand that and keep on voting for the idiocy of trickling down economics that has proven many times it's disastrous for any economy.

As to anyone depending on social security for their retirement, that a recipe for disaster. When i retire, SS will be extra income. I’ve invested well over the years intentionally because i couldn’t trust that Social Security would be there.

I’m a salaried employee so that wouldn’t affect me at all.
